I installed an Akropovic headers/exhaust system using the Akro stock can on my new 2024 M1000XR. This morning I received the BT Moto file and programmed the ECU. Wow! A different bike. No flat spots in lower gears, especially second which was terrible stock. Better torque/linear power delivery/overall power throughout the RPM range. Runs 10-15 degrees cooler. No high idle when first started. Unbelievable transformation from stock. Way more fun to ride. Good job BT Moto!
Great video man, lots of information reviewers rarely talk about. This is the most exciting bike in the market for me. I've own 3 XRs since they came out in 2015 and after riding many motorcycles, this is a bike I always gravitate to. The combination of handling, riding position, wind protection, acceleration, among other things is hard to beat; it always brings a smile to my face when others figure out how capable these bikes are.
I love mine and recently did 1200 mile ride in 3 days over some amazing roads in California. Without a doubt this is the most capable tourer and standard XR is slower. I do feel extra weight of a tourer vs naked bike in acceleration and under braking. it’s just something one has to trade for comfort and better long distance. I like the winglets (apart from cleaning..), but honestly want to try without them as I enjoy front wheel in the air more than acceleration figures. I do feel them working at high speeds, bike is more stable and interestingly this is one area where my experience differs from the video. I run mine half open and it is still plenty stable even over rough payment and very aggressive throttle. On SuperDuke I had to run WP adjustable upgraded unit at 80% closed to calm the front end down.
Hi there. I see the bike has a decat system on it? Where can I get my hands on it? I believe one gets a Ti decat system too? Last question, does the cat / decat setup affect the tune? With all the RR motors breaking nowadays... I am bit weary to tune my XR!
Very interesting as I rode the MR vs MXR and noticed the difference in bottom end torque.. based in the UK so this new restriction on the MXR was very noticeable 👍
I have BT Moto Tunes on 4 of my current bikes and the difference is amazing, The MXR is on the very top of my next moto list and I will be flashing it with the BT-Moto. Love these videos!!!
BT Moto is partially responsible for making the XR popular… All of a sudden, a bunch of people I know (here in NYC) are looking into adding an XR to their stables. And with what you’re doing with MXRs, I know a lot of fast riders who will be left wanting even more. Impressive. 😎👌
Thanks to Motorsports Exocita and your work on it, I love it!! I was considering going with stage two on it but stage one is working out perfect for me.
Also just to note, I changed the shifter because I prefer GP shifting and BMW currently does not have an option for this on the M1000XR standard shifter.
Gotta ask, did you end up putting a de-cat header on your XR? I'm debating about whether or not I should grab a set of blackwidow stainless headers on my 23
The ‘stripped’ down model still has a lot of options if you think about it. It still has cruisecontrol, quickshifter up and down, electronic suspension and a lot more. If you think about it there are not many bikes on the market that come with these options as standard.
I just want the rear sets off this and the race modes because of lap timers. Otherwise, I wouldn’t trade my Sxr for anything. Thank you for making my XR a fkn lunatic!!! 😊
I see stock QS on the video. I did try Cordona GP ASG QS on this bike for the sake of GP shift and although I accomplished the reverse shift , I didn’t like increased amount of force required vs stock. Agree, OEM is really good, I reverted back to stock and plan on experimenting with getting an extension on the stock lever to make it reverse shift with OEM sensor. Sucks that there is no easy solution for those who want reverse shift on this “M” bike. Nice review and I agree with all that’s been said as I run BT tune on mine.
When are you able to make it ‘stage 2’ you should be able to put on velocity stacks because I think the air filter box is still the same. I think almost every tune mod from the s1000rr should be working on the m1000xr
I appreciate the video, and how you explain the process of tuning. I still have questions I’ll have to look to your website. Have you yet worked with the Multistrada RS ?
Hello BT really enjoying your videos. Would like to ask you if you know the after market graphic exhaust from gen 2 s1000xr fits on the M. I’m on the market selling mine 2022 and I would like to know if I should keep the headers for the M. Thanks in advance
Can you provide a link to that instrument panel cover? I looked on both the Bonamici Racing and Motosport Exotica websites and couldn't find it. Can you also provide the source of your decat pipe? Thanks!

@@Pseudo_Placebo you’re wrong. The M1000RR is a great motor as it offers more torque. Tell me how a 500 pound would not benefit from a torque increase? Your opinion is wrong. Did you address the flapper modification in this video? Can the flapper be opened up in "Race" mode and above and work as normal in "Dynamic" and below or is it an always open modification or leave as factory option? You did talk about the stock exhaust system being a good option to leave as is which I'm inclined to with the exception of wanting to losing 20 pounds from the system. Can you tell me if there is any horse power gain with an Akrapovic titanium header using the stock factory Akrapovic muffler over the completely stock system? I am having my local dealer install your tune June 3rd and just want to know what options to request when filling out the questionnaire.
Good points. Yes, the intake flappers are kept open 100% of the time with our flash. The titanium system from bmw option saves weight but has no gain in power over the factory bmw stainless system.
@@BT_Moto Thanks for the reply. The titanium header would blue nicely and match the MXR theme but that is an expensive cosmetic change. I think losing 20 pounds myself would be a better economical option.

I just bought a 2024 S1000XR, can i have it flashed/mapped and still keep my warranty? Will they know? I’m super happy with the bike but if ir can be improved, hey why not…
@@cesarb1625 It does. The 2024 has a different mapping than the 20-23. It’s plenty torque-y in the lower revs, especially in Dynamic/dynamic pro but it’s best work is still at 7000 rpm+
NO, it's not true! BMW would have to prove, beyond a shadow of any doubt(legally), that it was the tune that caused the issue that the motorcycle had...
Just like a slip on exhaust, tuning itself cannot void your warranty unless it can be proven as a cause of failure. Plenty have been warrantied with our tuning on the bike. Some dealers will deny (a denial isn’t a void) service if you have any mods on your bike, including exhaust mods, but this is why we tell people to find a dealer that shares your enthusiasm for racing. They tend to be more helpful than other dealers. If you’re concerned about any voiding, just request to keep the stock rpm limiter and there should be no issues.
@@BT_Moto To be fair, that wasn't the question that was asked. The exhaust is clearly not stock. I'm curious to know power figures with the stock headers/cat.

The quickshifter on the bike looked stock to me but video might've been shot out of sequence. Regardless I'd really like to hear about BT moto's thoughts on the Cordona GP ASG quickshifter and if it has any interactions with the tune.
