I am glad to see that one of my designs brought back you to Condortk. Happy to see you like my Bisonte that much.
Best Regards
Walt
Walt, is there a condor knife
In 1095 like this knife, but with a 6 - 7" blade? I have the Low Drag. Great knife, but want the same knife in 1095, basically .... 😁👍🇦🇺
Got mine half a year ago, everything was fine it was excellent made. It's my most loved tool which is a tool and not a show room knife. Greetings from germany
I really like the three or four condor knives. But I agreed with many of your assessments of past condor knives. My biggest issue with them has always been with the scandi grinds being wonky. I'm obviously not using them as much as you do as I am just a weekend woodsman but I have always been able to strop them back to life if they get dull or get a little chip or roll. I like that because I want to be able to sharpen them in the field without having to have a bunch of sharpening gear. I have turned a couple into scandivex for edge stability and the way i do it reduces what I need to carry to do a touch up if needed. Once again, excellent video. Stay safe out there, brother.
First off brother I hope ya see this long comment and I apologizefor the the length 😉
I'd love to see Condor send you the Darklore and Aqualore blades in their Bushlore series.
Secondly...
Yes , quality control is still an issue ...I havent bought a Condor in probably 7 years or more even though their new designs really draw me in, I just could not ever pull the lever esp with their price increase , which I dont mind ,BUT that QC thing is always lurking.
So...I finally seen a knife I had to have .
I just received their new "Trivitatta puukko" Its an awesome design with a sweet thick HANDLE A+😁 on the overall feel , i love it. ...BUT
the edge was very dull , or to be honest over Vexxed and slightly burnt from the belts .
For me it was a pretty easy fix, this aint my first rodeo with having to reprofile an edge.
ALSO , This Trivitatta knife basically has only 3 reviews the best one is by "Common Sense Bushcraft" which lead me to purchase the knife.
Now here comes the old QC monster issue , not only was it dull but it has a totally different geometry than his knife . Its not much, but it makes a huge difference for use. His had a very nice even constant curve from plunge to tip .
My knife came with the edge leaving the plunge in a slight upward less shallow angle not as curved.
The issue I have is that my blade looks identical to the one Joe Flowers shows off in the Knife Center video for 2023.
They clearly use different workers with no solid baseline for the edge shaping. This is VERY frustrating, especially if ya like a blade and want to get another one for yourself or a gift.
Another issue I have is for reviewers like yourself . When you review something, that should be the edge geometry the customer receives. Dull is one thing but, totally different shape is a big deal.
The Quality Control issue is really damaging their buisness . If they stepped up quality control , like HIRING legit inspectors but also having a baseline for finished products, I'd be a life long customer.
For now im a distant traveler who sails around the majestic Island of Condor but makes a stop every so many years....Thats not good for local businesses.
I apologize again for my insanely long comment .
🍻 cheers
Haha no worries l!!
btw, they use 1075 on small knifes, because they have some steel left over from the machetes, so they can save some costs on that.
I love my 2 condors. As a normal person they are incredible as a stupid knife snob, I rarely use them lol however one of them was my first woods knife so they have a special place in my heart/bias because of it.
Hello, I have a Hudson Bay from Condor and it is in 1075 steel, for the price it is an excellent knife, some brands would even have sold it 5 times more expensive. 9/10 years later when I take it out it still impresses so many people, I would have liked the 1095 steel because the 1075 dulls quickly but is easy to sharpen. Condor makes high quality knives at low prices.
I've got a Hudson Bay Mini from Condor, and I actually really like it. The handle is a bit small for me, but it's light, unadorned and utilitarian. Pretty much exactly what I expected.
The sheath is actually excellent. Far better than I expected. It's leather, so it needed a bit of a break-in, but it's good quality, thick leather, rivets and stitches.
Two years late to the party but, I'm in! Ive got a few Condors. 1075 and 1095. Always preformed as expected. I really like this design.
Its a little over 80 now.
2 years later and haven't seen any more condor reviews. The Hudson Bay is a interesting camp do everything maybe short or food prep, knife.
I got the smaller brother to this one (not too much smaller) but, I got the blue river... only reason I got that one instead of the one you're reviewing now is because it had a indigenous connection to my Heritage that spoke to me😂
I have 4 x Condor small-med fixed blades. I love them & use them outdoors regularly. Great utility & camp blades. 1) 2 x good out of box and 2 x had minor edge issues however as I always check/sharpen blades out of box these were not issues for me. No problems with handles or sheaths. For me, great value for money. 2) You need to be realistic for knives at this price-point. Minor QC issues do occur. 3) With general maintenance my knives continue to perform even years after purchase. Spending a few minutes around the campfire at night touching up my blade is quite therapeutic & you get to know your blade. Thanks for another informative vid - stay safe on the road.
Love my Condors, have over a dozen now and all knife very well!
The video and audio quality is great 👍 I've always liked Condor knives, I have quite a few different models. Overall I have had good luck with the quality of the knives I have purchased. I really like the leather sheaths. It's great to see the 1095 steal upgrade!
Your opening comments about Condor matched my experiences perfectly. Underwhelming knives. Agree with your assessment about Joker knives. Great knives.
So far I was always lucky with Condor. Most are used heavily. All of them hold up. Lower end knives are used more rough possibly in every day life, because breaking them doesn’t hurt that much. I wonder how many people really use there 400 to 600 dollar knives really hard.

Aaron, I was perusing the comments and saw that you had one from this knife's designer himself, Walter Mathews. I like the looks, size and ergos of this knife. The only thing I'd modify with this knife is a little thicker blade and some type of threaded fastener for the scales and micarta scales.
Aaron, fantastic presentation as always. Like you, I’m a bit of a Condor skeptic (Bc I own several of them), but have been lustily eyeing the bisonte after my experience with their 1095 through my terrasaur acquired last year. To keep in mind for future suggestion, two knives I would LOVE to see you review: 1st is another Condor; the Stratos. It is 1075, but I love mine as it’s an absolute wood processing, bush crafting machine. It seems to be one of their most consistently highly rated knives online, but there isn’t much truly good content on TH-cam about it. The second knife I would be drooling to watch you review is the new Cold Steel Drop Forged Bowie with the 9.25 inch blade. I bought it yesterday after owning (and adoring) the drop forged Survivalist and Hunter knives you’ve reviewed…there’s something about this larger Bowie that just sings to me for woods, hunting, and potentially tactical use. I would love to watch you put both of these blades through their paces. As always, keep up the amazing work and thanks for being the best knife review channel on TH-cam; already looking forward to the next one. 👊
I own the Cold Steel DF Survivalist and to put it simply … it’s amazing. It’s easily in my top two, it’s one of the few blades I’ve used that can slice like a laser and hit like a sledge hammer. The cutting ability is next level. I’d also enjoy seeing other DF blades looked at here.
New phone has good quality sound and video. Looked and sounded good from this end. 👍🏻
Bought a condor knife a month ago, really like it. Price point was excellent for the quality.
I have the Condor Ironpath Knife 3928-9.8HC
Very happy with it.
Very good chopper imo.
Edge retention is very good.
Scales are great.
Comes in a black leather sheath.
Honestly, the camera is amazing!
I really like my Bisonte. It's not a work of art, but it holds an edge and it has good ergonomics. I think the sheath along is worth $20-30, so it really is a good value. I've always kind of liked the the little blemishes (not the big ones) on Condors that make each knife a little unique.
I love the Condor Terrasaur but I have been hesitant to pull the trigger on the Bisonte because for $10-15 more I can get a Joker that puts Condor to shame for quality control.
Nice looking knife with a finely made leather sheath. 1095 steel with full tang, not too much to dislike. Thanks Aaron for the review.
😂 bought one and it was $ 54 , in AMAZON , two years ago 😊....EXELENT KNIFE 🗡 🎉
Hi Sir if you are worried about the handle use Beachwood Casey gun stock wax it works For me
Is there a knife one blade length longer than this from Condor (6 to 7") and still in 1095? 😁🇦🇺
I still love all of my condor machetes. I've had to really put my own edge on my jungolo, warlock and a tomahawk. My crocodilian, matt graham bushcraft knife, discord machete all came super sharp.
I still love them, but I'm just always ready to do SOME kind of work on them lol.
I have a few condor knifes I like they make quite a lot of good knifes it's knowing and discovering the good ones. Also like you said if they're not thin enough they just can't slice very well through foods and I like one and done instead of HAVE to Carry a small camp task knife.
The best thing you could do on raw hardwood to protect it and make it last is apply some type of oil. A simple hydrating oil like mineral oil is great, but you could also apply a product that is a blend of beeswax and mineral oil. Reapply once in a while And you’re good.
Glad you’re willing to give them another chance. I like that their playing with some different steels. If they can get their QC up to the standard of there sheath’s without pricing themselves out of the market...they would be a winner...
Just got a Condor terrasaur. The blade grind is slightly to one side, but the handles and lanyard hole all match up well. For the money I cannot complain. 👍
Found a beat up used one with sheath and rod for $35, I would love to have been the one to put the dings in it but I am finding hard to not go pick it up. Would you purchase used knives?
Hi Aaron. Another great video. A thought on the Bisonte handle scales....I lightly sanded the wood then added 3-4 coats of tru-oil. Good enough for gunstocks, good enough for unstabilized knife scales...lol. Alternatively, soaking in linseed oil would be a good choice. Anyway, hope you and the family enjoyed South Padre Island. Take care.
You sanded with a variation of grit?
I have good experiences with Condor. Also in 1075 when with convex grind.
Agree they could grab more market with the suggestions you did though.
Boiled Linseed Oil is just a few dollars at Lowe's, just pick it up, then put several light coats on the handle over the course of a week. That will cure then the handle will be good to go. I do it for all my Bushcraft Axes. I'm really liking that sheath, I have an aftermarket one Identical to it for my Mora Garberg.
I got a similar chip on my new Terrasaur, in the exact same spot, right after unboxing.
I think they’ve made a huge step up. Video I wouldn’t have known unless you said so. Great job.
To help waterproof the handle, soak it in linseed oil. Linseed oil is what has been used on wooden golf clubs for decades (when we used wooden clubs). It gets into all the pores in the wood. I love this knife's shape and size.
Good suggestion
I've owned many Condors and they are good utilitarian knives at what use to be a excellent price. What they are not , even with the new selections are knives your proud to own like Tops and Esee.
Thats a good description actually.
Lol ok 👍
i have many condors. i wouldn’t say i’m proud of that, but knife ownership isn’t a source of pride, for me anyway. still like them alot. price is getting a little high from when i started buying them. but they do seem to be less hit and miss in finish. and they do make killer sheaths, as pointed out in vid.
For the price on Condor tools today your way better off owning a Tops or Esee. Like you said. Proud to own. For me personally that proud part means a lot. Especially when your buying a made in America blade. Which is why I'll continue to support my Esee blades.
@@hillbillyfromtheswamp6223 IMO you'd be better off with a lionsteel or a trc. Maybe not made in USA but we aren't all Americans. I buy Italian and Lithuanian knives even though I'm English... simple cause they're making great knives right now. I have owned a few esee knives... a 6 a 4 and a 3 and I found the steel on every one to be far too soft and very easy to role. If I was to get another esee I think I would go for the s36vn esee 4. Now that's a knife that intrigues me. Tops I couldn't say as I have never owned one but they look like decent knives.
I just got my first condor knife , the dragon seax and I absolutely love it. Using it til it breaks haha anyways much love from ATX !
Hey great commentary on the video. I know I'm a few months late but try linseed oil for the wood.
Thank you so much 👍
I have a bushfire. I have found it to be an excellent user. Easy to touch up the blade, takes a great edge, good sheath, great value.
Now, is it as much of a beauty as some of my others? No. But it works great for my farm work and playing in the woods.
Where I live, the steel rusts too easily, and that is my only real complaint.
That kind of wood is great if you treat it with a good oil finish. Sand it with 400-600 paper and put in about 3 coats of oil finish.
I like teak oil, but danish oil or linseed will work. Linseed dries very slowly. With teak oil, you soak it in with a rag and maybe a brief dip after rubbing in the oil. Let it dry an hour or so and wipe off the excess and let it dry for a few hours. Then repeat a couple more times (no dip). The grip is really good with this finish and the weatherproofing is very good. Just like a good axe handle.
I really prefer when they send wood handled knives unfinished so I don't have to spend an hour removing some kind of varnish and making the grip slightly smaller.
I was put off by condors heat treatments, I purchased a swamp romper 2 years back. They may as well not bothered because it dulled within minutes and even on bass wood. I took a chance on another condor hoping the previous knife was just a bad 1 out of many good ones unfortunately I was wrong again poor heat treatment. Since then I’ve never purchased another condor. I’m now a Ontario and fallkniven user
I absolutely love Condor, they’re my favourite company for fixed blades. I have 5 Condor’s and they’re just awesome including my all time favourite knife the Low Drag. I’ve put them all to use and worked them hard (keeping them within their respective roles) and they’ve exceeded my expectations for performance and build quality. Sheaths, amazing.
I’ll be honest in that I’ve had to tweak a few things on some of them including knocking down a sharp edge that touches the hand to evening out the final cutting bevel. All tasks within DIY range and well worth the price of ownership IMHO. I really connect with these tools and if I didn’t discipline myself on how many fixed blades I allow myself to have, I’d happily own more Condor knives.
Four of mine are in 1075 and 1 is in 1095, I’ve been very satisfied with the heat treat, strength and edge holding of the blades in 1075 and personally wouldn’t hesitate to get more in this steel. I vote for more Condor reviews ❤️
If you love condor, pick up a Tops knife, you will like it more. Fit and finish, looks, better HT, ect ect.
Oh by the way, condor HT to 50-55, quite soft
I love their Large Huron knife...Amazing knife + sheath in my opinion. I'll check out their Low Drag...
Another excellent balanced review. I have been wondering abut Condor as well. Thanks!
Thinking of a Condor Bushlore...any thoughts ?
They’re 1075 sucks I’ve never found it really holding an edge. Well constant need to re-sharpen. Not unless you’re gonna put a really good micro bevel on it and even then you’re gonna have to re-sharpen it quite frequently.
I can fully agree that the tools they offer in 1075 need to either be higher in quality or given a considerably harder rockwell.
My pack golok, my engineer bolo, and my huron all could be way harder or more compact in steel.
However, my Aatrox, my crotalus, my warlock machete and my Nessmuk are all solid and sharp as hell,
My pack golok is my go to whenever i go out but after seeing that shotgun style machete, im definetly grabbing that as an upgrade and as a test to see if the steel is great.
Thanks for this review. I’ve been eyeing this one for a while.
Love watching your videos and obviously you know what you are talking about and you have way more experience with different brands than me but I have a couple of Condors ...Warlock , kTac Kukri Android A plan Bowie and they are amazing and the Warlock I use on a daily basis for splitting logs for the stove and I've totally abused and the 1075 has been amazing . I have a few TOPS knives and lovely knives but not a chance are they worth more than double the cost of the equivalent ...for instance my Tops Longhorn Bowie feels inadequate compared to the A plan ...maybe I have been lucky but I'm defo a Condor fan .
Personally I'd go with the Joker. But thank you for your great evaluation of this knife.
You should try the Condor Ripper knife , that one is very comparable to the Bk18 Harpoon . It looks really cool and up your alley.
I have a Hudson Bay knife by them and my bevels are off, and the handle is off just a bit. But it’s a cool knife. I have a joker Ember and that knife is awesome probably my favorite Bushcraft knife. Thanks for the video.
I have the Condor Heavy Duty Kukri, and was looking at the Condor Blue River as a companion. That's 1095 as well but out of stock everywhere here in the UK. The Huron is another option, hadn't seen this Bisonte before, looks great.
Generally speaking Condors are ok. I have a few. My issue is since they became more mainstream, they're prices are typically to much for what your getting. Of course they can do everything one would expect a knife to do but the quality control just isn't consistent to match those prices. The sheaths are typically awesome. Just my two cents
I concur with your two cents! Not sure why they thought they needed to bump the prices up. IIRC, that was about three years ago? They still have some bargains like the Terrasaur. But I constantly find myself digging one of their designs and thinking, “Meh, I could give $70 for that.” Only to go find that the MAP is $120. They are just over the threshold on so many of their models now, I find myself saying no thanks more often than not. I’m not about to tell them how to run their business, but I know SO many people that feel the same.
@@JohnSmith-gs4lw well stated!
G'day Aaron, quite a nice bushcrafter and a well priced package. Not for me personally, but I'm sure many folks will appreciate the steel upgrade as well as more attention to detail. Yeah needs something on the handle scales, I would've said boiled linseed oil by default, but another commenter, (good on ya Jack), put me onto lanolin. Does well as a moisture barrier on carbon steel and leather too. Cheers Duke.
I think Condor is pretty decent for the price. Im really excited about the new Aqualore thats coming out this year
I have one old SBK Condor Knife. And the quality control on my knife is really bad. 17° edge angel, guard uneven on both sides, grinding on the tip and guard is 2mm off and the kydex sheath was not fitting the knife correct and i had to fix it with heat. The only good thing i can say about it, is the good rounded micarta handle. Condor needs a better qc.
Sure looks good. I would like to reprofile the blade though a little bit.
Nice. If you don’t mind doing the final sanding and fit on the handle check out bps knives. A great budget knife 1066 but can hold an edge and take a beating.
Boiled linseed oil, protects the wood without being super slick like lacquer. Give it a try. 3 coats, at least. Let fully dry between coats, say at least 24 hours, depending on humidity. If it’s more humid, go 48 hours. Looks like another prospect, lol
Yeah, just got my primitive mondo. Got a nice chip in the blade day one, cutting bamboo. Not hardwood, no stone hits or anything like that. On the upside, it still performs perfectly, noticeably better than a much larger martindale cane knife I own. The 1075 definitely rolls, yet still performs. Maybe we’re caring too much about what the edges look like (shit), vs. how they work (gold). Not sure yet.
…. that’s a great looking knife design-wise. ( audio sounds good 👌🏻)
Bro, what exactly are you chopping down in south Texas? Burritos? 1075 has its place, and I’m not sure if you really factor into condors larger marketing plan.
You should do a video on the condor mini duku parang
I enjoy adding my own improvements to a knife so I never mind paying less for lesser fit and finish, as long as the steel is good quality.
Say what you want about their knives (I tend to like ‘em), but their leather sheaths are fantastic.
seem like a good knife , hope they can come with kydex sheath
For me, the problem with them is not the steel choice, but the fact they harden to 50-55 hrc. That is why your having to sharpen them so often as you state my friend. They are more forgiving by flexing more, so tough yes, edge holding not so much.
You're
You try any of their X.E.R.O. series in 14C28N?
Video coming this week or next 👍 on those
@@gideonstactical Perfect timing! Thanks!
The quality with your Iphone is fine, as far as i'm concerned. Pretty much any flagship phone is going to have a very decent camera. Not as good as a expensive, dedicated camera of course, but for what it is it's good. I only use my Galaxy S21 for my videos.
Thanks for the review. I have considered purchasing knives from Condor but the reviews have been average at best. I reckon I will continue to wait and see how the reviews go in the future before considering purchasing one.
Do you or does anybody have any experience with the Condor Blue Havoc?
The only experience I have with Condor is with their Tactana. I can honestly say after some sharpening, that thing is SHTF ready.
It seems like a great little knife, especially for the price. Better steel and quality than most of theirother options. But for me? I'm going to stick with my Joker and Bark River knives that I trust with my life with for camping/bushcraft and everyday use. I do however have a condor bushlore knife that I leave in my truck for the super abusive chores that I don't want to subject my Bark River Bravo 1, Joker Nomad, or Joker Campero knife to and therefore wouldn't be upset if something happened to it. Great review brother and safe travels!
What irritates me tho, and I hope you can do something about it, is the use of secure-ex sheaths by CS.
This really keeps me away from buying fixed blade CS knives.
I received a completely rusted and pitted knife a while back when I ordered the 5” bushcraft knife. Very unpleasant experience. Sometimes they hit, sometimes they miss. Condor is like “a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get.”
Great review of a fine looking and very usable knife! Although i am a big fan of Condor i cant argue that their QC can be slightly sketchy, so its really great to see such a well finished knife from them that's still at a bargain price point.
Condor has been stepping it up lately.
Put a few coats of clear Watco on the handle and it will hold up fine.
I too have had issues with condor that lead me to walk away from the brand entirely now if you want a damned good knife that is tuff and beautiful check out the brisa in 80crv2 recent releases they have a kephart a trapper and a trooper, traditional puuko and leuku all incredibly durable and gorgeous knives!
Condor has always been a good knife, to be honest. I guess if what you're looking for is something to brag about online, there's better brands. But if you want a hard use knife they're good.
I like the Condor Terrasaur,it’s hard to beat for just $45..I’m looking forward to their new upcoming versions of the Bushlore, the Aqualore and the Darklore which are coming out in Sandvik 14C28N plus they come with ambidextrous kydex sheaths(as a lefty, this is a HUGE plus
Condor seems to do absolutely no marketing whatsoever. And I’ve tried to do some research on a couple of their newer knives, and there’s no reviews or anything out there
I’ve read good things about Condor and like the Blue River but I think you may be paying for the Details more than the Steel but it’s a good looking knife.
Received my Bisonte Jan 2022. Scandi grind is uniform and very sharp. Handle is good. Used to make feather sticks, notches and baton kindling (dry aged cherry) all done well. Very happy with the QC. Value to price is excellent. Part of my EDC woods Kit for 2022.
I’m interested in the Condor Ripper however no lanyard tube.
Like condor the kephart is awesome
Although I like the look of Condor knives, I just got my Krakatoa folder in....worst knife I have ever handled. Blunt beyond belief, design is actually pretty terrible. Also the linerlock is already at 100%, so opened up it hits the liner on the other side so it doesn't even really touch the blade. Workmanship is on par with someone that has never done metalwork and uses handheld tools with blunt bits. Metal splinters, dents, shavings, crooked holes, crooked spacers. Really?
The pocket clip is loose, and I mean the holes are too big for the screws so it wiggles side to side no matter how tight the screws are.
And they dare to put "Hand Crafted in El Salvador By People Who Care" on the box. Sure, they probably care for something but not for Condor knives, that's for sure. They have NO clue how to make a folder, and don't give a shit. I'm never buying a Condor again.
They offer a lot, though their prices have gone up, making their QC issues far less forgivable. Same with some of the design flaws, like terrible grind angles. Bought the HD kukri recently, and there are loose pins, and epoxy all over the wood.
Damn, I was planning on grabbing one of those
Good video. Good presentation. Of course, I'm no expert, but I find the same thing with all your vids.
If you have blade made of (not stainless) 1095 steel, it really does not mater at all, if you have wooden handle. You must take care of the knife anyway. It is normal in my opinion, very few of knives you can toss somewhere in mud and forget them there. It looks good. I must search for more of Condor's knives.
PS: The sheath is worthy at least 15-20 dollars alone.
Doesn't Condor do anything other than scandi grinds? Just noticing no real variety in their line-up.
Sheath look very nice, but the knife - for the price here - nah. The quality control seems not up to great standards yet. Many here seemjs to have got good examples, good for you, but I don't want to throw a dice considering the price (about 110 USD from this end!). For that price there proably are options with people making a greater quality control effort and they deserves that money more I think.
Sheath looks fantastic knife looks great. Not very interesting in my opinion but that's ok it looks like a good knife.
Great video
great price.good looking blade
Try T Kell knives, you won't be disappointed!
Righty-only - a shame. Looks like a great tool!
I just received my Bisonte and I am very disappointed. The fit and finish of the one I received is AWFUL. The wood handles are rough and unfinished and there is a large black knot or something on one of them. But the worst part is that 4 of the 6 brass pins protrude so badly that it is actually painful to grip the knife tightly. I could break out the Dremel and smooth them down and then sand the handles but I shouldn’t have to do that at this price point. I am spoiled by my Joker knives that are in the same price range and they are all flawless in the fit and finish. Sadly I will be sending this knife back.
