Condor Selknam Knife: Some Things I Like, Some Not So Much - Survival, Bushcraft, Outdoor Knife

- The Selknam from Condor Took and Knife is a medium-sized survival and outdoors knife. This thing reminds of the BK-2 from Ka-Bar, but a little smaller. Overall, this knife did all the tasks I needed it to but the location of the handle relative to the blade and then also the grind/sharpness were an issue for me. I"ll take the Crotalus over this one - but let me know what you think of it.

Great review Tim, I agree with you 100%, it’s a nice knife by Condor but there are others I would choose before that one. I loved the leather sheath, that was AWESOME looking👍👍

The knife was designed by a compatriot of mine, from Chile, and the name came from an indigenous tribe of insuar patagonia, tha was extermined by the spanish.
Exterminated primarily by the English, Scots, Irish and Italians

A good back up blade for camping or like I do carry every day
I have this knife. I really like it. I'm not sure what the back loops on tyne sheath are supposed to do, but I've slid in a few pencil sized bits of fatwood.
I might just use the sheath design for my BK2. I like the fire steel holder.
I was actually thinking the same....do u think bk2 ll fit that sheath...
Nice looking Knife and a great review of it. I have looked at it but I still prefer my Bushlore. It just does what I need it to do when I need it to do it. (Yesterday I butchered out 2 Wild Hogs I took down. No resharpening needed and the knife cleaned up nicely.)

Great fair review. I like the look and the potential of this blade. I like that Condor is trying to add more features to their knives. I got the new Condor Terrasaur and I love it. Do like the Terrasaur better than the Selknam?

I own this knife. I like the knife.
I'm not some city soft hand wimp.
Instead of a stone, carry a few sheets of 2500 grit sandpaper.
Best to sharpen this blade.
And it works great in sub freezing temperatures up here above the Arctic Circle.

Come up to Northern Alaska in mid winter.
Most blades shatter quickly below -70°.

it reminds me of a smaller version of the Hudson Bay Condor knife.

Reminds me of a Hudson's Bay trappers knife.
I've seen this knife up close. They do a very rough job on the grinding, with only the last quarter inch or so being truly convex, making for a rather obtuse edge. That along with the other details you point out make it a no-go for me.

I’ve been adding flint strikers to my sheaths longer than I’ve been adding ferro rods. It’s nice to see a company doing it.
But I haven’t seen anyone actually using this steel. Does it work? It looks rather thin, but it would be easy enough to replace.
I didn’t have any stone around that was hard enough to test it on.
I definitely like that type of pommel. Survive knives does that same pipe as well, it's very utility like, and something I can use as opposed to a spike. I think that knife definitely has a lot of potential, and I would definitely like to try it out

Makes sense that it would be for that style knife. Im looking for a knife of that size that's more of a scandi grind. For me personally I can get it razor sharp easy in the field.

Yes, no more 1075. No more dull knives. It's so disappointing at their price point now days, they need to have better edges.
