Just switched from a 2020 300 tpi to a 2020 sherco se 300 factory and love it. Kyb valving feels all around better than the WP. Linkage handles better than the pds 3rd gear and up. Tpi motor was nice predictable and smooth but felt boring and the power felt almost artificial like, compared to the sherco motor which feels more alive and more fun to rip.
    Great content love the channel!

Nice video and exactly why I chose the Sherco 300 factory! Sucks to spend that much on a KTM then have to spend even more on suspension to get it where you want it. I’m also a carb guy just never liked the way the TPI felt/responded personally.

I ride at 1000 ft elevation to 11,500 ft elevation...assuming there is a Lectron or Smartcarb option for the Sherco? Or perhaps some of the experts out there can jet a Kehin to handle that without constant re-jetting?

Johnny Walker is now Team Beta and he loves his. Just saw that!
At 60 I'm not a hard Enduro candidate but own 4 of them ( Beta) 2001 rev3, 18' 300 and Evo, and a 19 200 RR. Waiting for the 480 factory to be brought in cause' I'm missing a big thumper!
Previously had an 03' MXC 525 and got addicted to massive grunt so wanting something to explore the ( slightly) less hardcore with.
Amazingly the Rev 3 is an absolute blast on the trails. Plenty of power ( 270cc) for the high country in Colorado but won't scare the crap out of you if the throttle gets a mind of its own! Got a Smartcarb for the 200 that I'll be trying out as soon as the weather in Colorado gives an opportunity. Supposed to be the cat's meow. Issue with getting the stock Kehin dialled in, even with the JD kit, that's been a little frustrating, but the 200 is really fun!

After 10 years riding orange and white ktm 300s and spending shitloads of $$ to fix wp suspension I was stoked on my 22 sherco 300 se factory. They nailed the parts build list and I love that the map switch actually does something. Thanks for sharing the drain bolt trick. Smartcarb or lectron for the guys that don't want to re-jet but want the simplicity/reliability. Great video for any of you guys contemplating the switch, the stock suspension alone was worth it and the rest of the parts just sweetened the deal.

I had a 2001 KTM 520sx, that I just abused for 5 years, I got the suspension done right away, I'm 6'1" 220 (at the time) so riding on motocross tracks it was required. After that suspension upgrade, I never disliked the PDS. I rode some other bikes on the track and just found I liked mine better, probably cause of what I was used to. After we had kids, I quit riding for a while, a friend died out in the desert and it took the steam out of my system. From what people tell me, that I respect, the PDS has come a long ways in those 20 years too, but again, I liked mine, where we'd be going through rocks at Millican and I just didn't care, where others were stressed. In Havasu in the desert, it was a whoop monster, which I loved.

Fellow 550 brother! In 1992 I bought a new DXC 550 DXC. After some carb mods it became my farm implement-trench digging roost monster for Indiana woods racing. Nothing could outrun that bike in an open plowed field, OMG! Held on to that bike for 5 years before. My next KTM. Have been KTM since 1992, came off a Husky before that. People think a 500. 2 stroke is a monster, never rode a 550

After 23y on a KTM and learning from them.. I got a Sherco after doing the math 8m ago. Its been a great experience, the bike rides awesome, it turns awesome and it follows the terrain as it should, def. needs some refinement but it reminds me the beginnings of KTM after 1995.
Sherco its a great product, minor things needs to be done but we all have different needs, pilot weight, riding environment and experience, you’ll be amazed the capability of this bike.
My recommendation: you Guys at KTM, dont be over confident of your product and monopoly, there’s people out there interested to do things right.
    Ride safe, cheers.

    • @carloskulka3781
      @carloskulka3781 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@ryananderson6321 sure,
First you have to understand that its a bike build by a engineer and then they call his buddy Francois to work on the sexy look.
      Things to improve:
1.- You’ll notice that plastics don’t align as perfect as KTM and takes time to understand why and how to do the best.
2-. I still believe that you need to keep an eye on the clutch, since it needs a better flow of oil and probably better disc, if they get to warm you’ll notice some fading on the modulation. This is the reason why a manual Rekluse is a great choice (I don’t see the need of a auto clutch this bike has great lows)
3-. Do we really need 2 oil dump screws?.. they really want clean oil inside the case and getting oil back in is not a awesome.
4-. They come really fat on fuel, some people likes playing with the carb but the smart carb does “awesome”.
5-. A little of a diet is not bad bud it doesn’t feel heavy after youre on it.
6-. As usual its a little dry on grease on all moving parts… but a lot better than KTM.
7-. Accessing the battery is not easy and getting the air filter in and out you need to work on a twist.. 90• will do the trick.
8-. Keep an eye on what works for you on premix, some people do their own numbers but the range of 2% its close (on the owners book). To me 1.5% to 1.7% works better but it all depends where and how you ride.
9-. Its a little tall, even on the 106mm on sag.. Ive been thinking on trimming 1/2 inch on the seat foam (Im 5’8”).
      Nothing mayor…
You’ll luv this eng., suspension, breaks.. and how the bike reacts on single trail.
Being so close to 2022 I”ll wait to see what brings…
.. 2021 vibration is good.. KTM feels almost electric.

$10800 is a steal. That Sherco is over 14K out the door here in Canada. I'd still factor in $1000 for a SmartCarb on the Sherco to get it on an even playing field with the KTM. Not necessary for everyone but for the long mountain rides it's a big advantage.

I’ve had 25 KTMs ( 18 were 300 and I also had a 550 And I also took a 300 swimming ) My question is this. Of the 2 bikes which one would fit a 6 foot tall person the best ? I recently purchased my first Beta 300 and it fits me just fine. Now I do run the tall woods bars ( I’m in the southeastern part of the country) and a GPR stabilizer that raises the bars another half an inch and I also use a tall seat ( and also re-sprung for my 210 pounds and a Recluse CX ) but that’s just to make it personalized for myself.

Thank you, gotta go with what works for you. I came off a KTM as my go to because of the TPI. 60+ hours on the Sherco and I have not had an issue with the clutch “not sure where that info came from, but I heard it bouncing around as well” funny how this stuff propagates - I actually bought a Rekluse manual clutch just in case the clutch had an issue - however it is still in the box, any one need one? None of them come with a kick start now, I was edgy at first, but a kick starter hadn’t been the mode of failure on the KTM so I was pretty relaxed with the Sherco. Electronic PV haven’t had issues, just the sickest down low torque I have seen in a long time - keeps on climbing......

Worked as a technician for both brands at the respective dealerships.ktm far easier to work on. Sherco still has lots of R&D to do to get the bike easy to work on. For example sherco subframe is held in place with one long bolt and two short ones. The long bolt is prone to snapping. Exhaust mounting hardware uses flimsy mounts and sheer odd just looking at Them. Factory fitted tubes perish before the bike has even been lifted out of the crate. Alignment of the airfilter is a task and very easily fitted incorrectly leading to engine failure. Clutches not as strong as ktm. Aluminum basket compared to the steel dds type in ktm. In south Africa parts is a problem and little to none aftermarket support. The four-strokes are an absolute mess. Exploding just looking at them. 2 strokes much better but still have some bugs to iron out. Ktms tpi was very shit. Seems to be sorted out in the 2020 and 2021 models. Aftermarket for parts is huge. Nicer bike to work on. Same job on sherco takes more time. 2019-2020 had plug fowling issues on sherco. Bike couldn't idle for more than like 2 min without drying. Had to keep spark plugs and wrenches on the startline to make sure the riders got away. Suspension is good but needs a revalve.

We agree with you there, wish more brands would step up and make aftermarket parts.. we are going to try to help with that... yes KTMs are a bit easier to work on. Imo after 2019, the last year ktm used carbs on their 2 strokes, not all of the 250,300 XC models but quite a few of them. I wouldn't personally buy a ktm 2-stroke for close to 10k plus and then still have to spend $1200 to get a $10,000 dollar bike to run as good as a stock 2008 to 2016 300 XC. The best fix for a mikuni carburetor is to put a Lectron or a Smart carb 2 on it. Not a fan of 2-stroke motorcycles at all.

      @jeff40 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Ever since we have NO options now with KTM"s tpi only 2-strokes?! That has been KTM's biggest mistake making fuel injected only 2-strokes only with no option of a carbureted 250 or 300 XC model since 2019. Does anybody out there have a 2019 ktm-300xc carbureted version for sale? That's all I'll buy until KTM makes their TPI 2-strokes at least 75% better.

Been riding KTM in Oz for over 10 years. Got sick of being the RND team for the factory and so this year I’ve just ordered the 2022 Sherco 300 Factory. KTM should start listening before they kill themselves. STOP using your customer base as employees that you don’t pay. Oh and speaking of money, pull your heads out of your arses and drop the now ridiculous prices. Maybe even think about giving us a bash plate again. It is after all a hard enduro machine. Think about it.

@@InsideEnduro Ended up canceling the order on the Sherco due to them not being able to provide a delivery date. Bought the 21 GasGas EC 300 instead and couldn’t be happier. Even though it is made in the same factory and owned by KTM it is a totally different animal due to the linkage rear and here in Australia it was actually $3000 less then the equivalent KTM EXC 300 which I bought my son. Yes I still had to spend money on it but it is the way I want it and set up perfectly. I really hate supporting KTM due to their ignorance towards customers but if other manufacturers can’t get their act together then what do you do.

Sherco will be TPI soon just like the KTM. Not to mention Sherco lost Baylor to Gas Gas and won't have an Off-Road team until 2022. There was a reason he switched as well as his brother. Buy what you like.

    Great video dude !
    Like U i own two enduro's : One 300 exc 2017 kehin carb and one 300 Se r SHERCO.
We have the same body shape (not still skinny teenagers but big balls small brain).
Both are so différent. For hard enduro in rocky steep climbs, Sherco is more compact.
For long rides in the rivers, fork WP of the KTM is more efficient (angle de chasse ?).
Thanks for the tip with the right side engine bolt. Usefull (Gas gas did the same if I well remeber).
I wanna change my carapax bash plate pipe protection for a Force Accessories one, if someone has any experience with that swipe, please tell me !
    See ya.
