2:03 Own a 21 Sherco myself and spent hours changing jets, riding and changing again 😏 That Sherco jet chart is absolute rubbish. If followed, they'll foul plugs and blubber their way around the forest. Going 2 steps leaner on EVERYTHING based on the chart is a good place to start from and tune from there 👍 I'm only between 300 and 750m elevation and warm temps, but to get it running clean and crisp it's on 38P, 168M and the N8RG needle at clip one. At that, it's happy.
@@Drew79 It would depend on what is fitted to your bike now, but if you look at the Sherco chart for your own temps and altitude, it will give you their rich settings. Going a couple of sizes down on wht is recommended is a place to start - However, you need to have a little mechanical knowledge to watch for any signs of lean running and also check your spark plug colour to be sure that you are close. You can then work on one part of the delivery at a time with the pilot jet, needle and main sizes.
@@Danger_mouseThank you for your response. I just picked up 21 sherco se 300. I’ve also heard to run it 2 steps down from what Manuel says, I just don’t know a ton about carbs. I can work on just about anything else on these bikes.
@@Drew79 As an example, I'm riding mostly at 350-750m in 15-30°C temps and I'm running a 38P jet, 170M and the N8RG needle on clip 2. Working well for me, but nothing like the book says.
Hey mate, I enjoy your videos, thank you I have a 2022 Sherco. I think the float needs adjusting, it's stalling when I go down really steep decents. The other day I did 50km and used about 9lts of fuel, it must be leaking out. What float position should be used and do you think this is my problem?
Great video thank you. I've just ordered a 2022 300 factory. Been a KTM man for ever but I think the Sherco is superior. Will a dealer change our the needle and jets as part of a routine pre-delivery? I'm in Australia in a hot climate. I don't want to piss them off but it's this something I should mention? Cheers mate.
I'm sure you've done it by now, but others reading this comment, dive in and try doing it yourself. You'll find it isn't that bad and after a bit you get a system down for it. I'd ride on the Oregon Coast on the dunes, and it took some experimenting, where you'd get your jetting for the track, then where you're more wide open on dunes and such, stop and look at the plug. Typically in the manual it will show you some old ass picture of the plug and what it should and should not look like. It really isn't that bad, and remember, maintenance ends up somewhere else. You get a 4 stroke, you're changing oil constantly, if you ride a 2 stroke in the same areas mostly, you rarely have to monkey with them. I'm not trying to sound condescending whatsoever, and like this guy in his video talks about, take your time, don't over torque stuff it will strip super fast, you'll get the hang of it, I promise.
@UTTP-Up Teh Pipe Productions KTM have gone massively downhill since the TPI, mine started running weird last weekend and now won't start at all. just saw a video from a guy with a 2022 tpi who said it ran crap from the moment he bought it. he'd put 30 hours on it and gone through 6 CC pressure sensors already as well as having other issues. said its run properly and problem free for about 5 of those 30 hours. and had clutch issues right off the bat. like alot of other ktm customers the dealer refused to held and gave the old "its a characteristic of the bike" excuse
I don't know who WTC is, but I'll take the T-shirt. :) Great video though, I've been wondering if the Sherco's were as easy as my KTM to change out jetting. I'm really liking these bikes and think it will be my next ride.
Are you selling Shercos as well as renting them out? The other thing that helps is running Motul 510 or 710 for general trail riding rather than the racing oil 800 which has a high flash point
Yes sir, both! We are a Sherco dealer and we do riding tours, and we will have snowbike rentals available in about a month! We are running that motul 710 in all of our Shercos!
Nice vid! I have also 2020 model, did the jetting but my pipe is very black from oil after each ride, what can be a reason? tried 50:1 and 60:1 ratio with motul and castrol, didn't help.
Bush riding you Can jet for 80;1 because you don't Rev it out as much and will load cylinder up with oil. I love my lectron tho on my yz. She's going onto the Sherco!
We have used both, but I prefer the 800 at 50-60:1 if the bike has just a bit of oily spluge I will go from 50 to 60:1 before considering re-jetting 🔥✊🏼
if anyone watching with old type of engine (powervalve motor under tank with cables), that can run much richer without fouling plugs, i like mine 2018 rich on pilot jet... 60:1 motul 800 for gncc type of racing, motul 710 for trail riding.

Great info. I never knew about the center mark for orientation. Thanks.
Thanks for the video! Love your humor!
Glad someone does ;)
You can thread the slide spring on the cable after you attach it to slide. Just thread it over cable in corkscrew motion… makes it much easier.
Great Tip!
Just found this thanks for the video. I see the “green” mark on my carb but it’s not clear what it is supposed to align with?
The references were spot on. A subscriber.

That could possibly be your problem but we have yet to have the need to adjust the float on any of our bikes.
This is normal you can turn idle up but we just keep blerping throttle. Even my tpi do this without idle mod.
Not only informative, but it was funnier than shit too!! Thanks for making an updated vid. was tired of rewatching the 1976 Suzuki in the dark garage!

Any opinion on JD Jetting?
We prefer the stock needles and jets. They work great!
what needle/clip position do you recommend for sea level???
Shoot I am unsure on sea level. We are around 5k feet
Medical pliers are a great tip. Thank you.
They're the secret carburetor weapon!
Anything spastic proof is good👍
We love spastic proof
How do the Sherco float levels come stock? Do you need to drop the float any? I have owned numerous Betas and every one had the float set too high.
For now most are coming dead on. We have messed with a couple but that is out of over 100 bikes.
