One thing people dont talk about is the electrical system power. This was the tie breaker for me between the 300SE Factory and a Husky TX300i. The Austrian bikes have 70W power for lights, etc. The Sherco has 210W! I ride at night a lot, and I am putting a triple bucket light system on my 300. Between my helmet and bike lights...25,000 Lumens.
Mate you nailed it. I’ve got a 2019 with 76 hrs & no dramas & didn’t notice the vibes by the end of the 1st ride. I did lean it out and ran 50:1, clickers had enough effect to set up nicely. How low you can drop the revs and is unbelievable then just wick it up. I am discussing with local shop to trade up to the new model to get the counterbalanced engine & lowest change over figure. Great bike!
Great review Rich, I really appreciate your balanced and honest appraisal. I really love your how-to videos as well. You are my new favorite dirt biking youtuber!
Welcome to enduro! I have had two of those 2014 machines (actually 300 SE-R's) before swithing to 300 SEF-R's. Check that the starter motor is all good, as I had a failure with the bendix drive. Newer bikes don't have that issue. Also swith the electrical "on" button off each ride, as otherwise it drains the battery, unless the bike's previous owner has adressed that. Check Sherco Forum as well for tips. A lot of helpful people out there. I have now had 4 Shercos, and my last one have done 86 hours, and never missed a beat. Top notch bikes, and I have been through all of the Japanese (motocross) bikes and KTM, so I have to agree with Mr. Larsen's video here. Technically way over what I expected from the French when I threw my leg over my first Sherco two-stroke.
I have ridden the '20 300 and it's an incredible bike. I agree 100% about the engine, it is the best I've felt. Chassis and suspension were also very comfortable and confidence inspiring for me. The biggest thing keeping me from buying a Sherco is the no kick start thing. I get how good the starters, batteries, and charging systems are but no backup kick starter is an unwise choice in my opinion. As you have shown in this video, if you break a starter button, you're done for. I would like to see Sherco at least add a place for one in the future but I don't see that happening. Great review though.
thank you for great video! was thinking about new top end on mine 250 with 103hrs, but now I am fine for at least 20 more :) Love how torque even 250 is... been told on Sunday that i have good balance...but its so easy with Sherco...love it you just forgot to mention 1 thing... gearing is too long, 13 front sprocket is a must for technical stuff!
I’m on a waiting list for a 2021 250 SEFactory. I’m told could be October before more bikes come in. It’s going to be an interesting replacement of my TE150.
Awesome channel! Just finished my first 10 hrs on my 2020 and loving it! Do you have any specific advice around suspension settings for Hard Enduro that helps us mere mortals? Thanks for the awesome vids the kids and I love em!
Привет Ирс. Отличные видосы у тебя. С удовольствием смотрю. У меня тоже Sherco SE300, отличный аппарат. Проехал на нем 75 часов. Тебе удачи и по больше новых видео, я с удовольствием их посмотрю.
Your a legend! Been looking at placing an order on a new Sherco this week.. your videos are super well put together!! A mixture of you showing your rad HE skills.. but the info is REAL.. keep up the good work my friend! 🤙
So I had Richard Larsen vids constantly popping up on my face book,Iv always had a love for enduro so I flicked the sx 450 and bought excactly this, thanks for your honest opinions and exceptional knowledge,I look forward to you training vids, btw you said you hadn't done a top end as of yet.. how many hrs was that roughly?
Good test. I just stumbled on your channel. Just a thought. Maybe change your trans. oil more frequently. This should help with the fading. That oil looked pretty dark. We use the Maxima 75w trans oil in the Sherco trials bikes.
Thanks! Due to the aluminum plates the oil turns black with in one hour of riding. The oil is usually changed every one to two weeks depending on the frequency and level of extreme riding. Fresh oil does help slightly but, even with fresh oil the fade is there a few hours into a REALLY extreme ride.
I don't know my ass from a hole in the ground, but I sure do like those Shercos. Rode a Bultaco back in the day and I loved that bike. Beat the livin snot out of the thing, too. By the looks of Rich's bike, it sure looks like Sherpaco's keepin up the tradition
Cool review! My sherco 2020 300 se-r factory have very hard fork and suspension and bad jetting. I have KTM EXC 250 2 stroke 2017 carburator - is awesome! KTM EXC 17 have better clutch modulation them my new sherco .
awesome review Rich keep the vids coming. I think the Sherco is a cool bike, hopefully i get to ride one someday but for now I am in love with my Beta's.
They look like awesome bikes! I love the KYB suspension. I wish they had a better dealer network in Canada. Closest is 3hrs away and I don’t even live in a rural area. Also, you ride 5-6 days a week!!!!! Lucky bastard!
I have done on my sherco only 60 hours but agree on all counts, great bike but starter button I will replace probably with one from ktm, don't care about map switch and have to soften the clutch lever a bit.
I ride a 2018 YAMAHA yz250 dialed for enduro. 3.2 gallon Clarke tank and other mods . I run stock jetting and have around 100 hours on the original spark plug and premix at 32/1 with Yamalube r.
What elevation? I couldn't keep a plug from fowling for less than 5 hours. Dropped down one size on pilot and it's golden now. I have 50 hours on a 2016 i got new in 2018.
@@flagovhate 680ft above sea level here in Espanola Ontario Canada. I run shell pump gas, 91 octane, Yamalube R. Mixed 32/1. I always use the choke on dead cold starts, let it idle fast then cut the choke. Then rev till warm. Then rev high to clean it out before riding. I lug this bike really low with 13oz flywheel weight, no issues at all.
You sold me at Japanese cockpit also the KYB suspension. I’m currently on a 17 TE300 and absolutely love the power and tractor like low end but the suspension leaves a lot to be desired. I’ve had it tuned twice and hate how the WP just blows threw the suspension stroke and I’m only 145 pounds.
Hey Rich, I've got a 2020 SE Factory coming in Aug 2021, can't fricken wait! Question: what rear tyre did you use to run? It comes standard with a 140, seems a little wide for my liking. I run a IRC 120VE33 currently on my KTM450 and love it. What did you run?
Honestly who are the fuckwits who dislike these videos? the bloke rides like a pro and tests the 3 bikes back to back from experience. What is a 100+ not long enough? also what changes would those (9) dislikers make and why?
A coil cost Quinn roughly 40 minutes at RORR. That said everyone I know that has one loves it. Another guy I ride with just went out on a ve33s. Loves it for mixed fast ( our fast anyway, lol) then technical sections.
Fairly simple to fix. 2 bolts and unplug it. Once I got a replacement coil it took maybe 20 minutes. I hear a lot of dealers are replacing them with the 2021 version before they sell the bike.
When you said that rekluse will be making a manual clutch in the future did you refer to the core manual torque drive or are they planning something else?
Not for me. Sherco dealer 5 minutes from my house. OF course though, I don't own one. Next bike will be one though....if I ever wear out my 2020 yz250 hehehe
I have a 2016 beta 300.. I have put up hundreds of hours and have had no issues with the exception of the usual wear and tare. I recently gave it a full engine rebuild just for maintenance reasons and to be honest I regret doing the bottom end as it was in perfect condition on inspection. I absolutely love the bike and having tried some other bikes including new tpi bikes I won't be changing for anything else. Long story short, they are very reliable.
2016 beta 250 race edition with 340 hours and 0 issues. Also, a 19 beta 300 race edition with 130 hours and 0 issues. Have had 4 ktms with a 17 being most recent. I have no desire to go back to a ktm. Neither beta has ever boiled over and never failed me.
If you fit and are confortable in sidi buy it. It's a lighter boot with moore feel. Sg12 is bulky and heavy but offer more protection and better quality. And more confort for large feet in SG12.
Gaerne SG12, quality still made in Italy. Sidi not what they used to be now made in Romania. At the end of the day try on both and see which you find more comfortable.
SG12 are not good for enduro, they are way too heavy, steal cap is gone in minutes. I like Sidi crossfire 3, you can just screw enduro sole on, very comfy if you do not have wide feet as mentioned
IRC Tire USA Moto thanks for clarifying, maybe you can clarify to your customers when the the next over seas shipment will arrive and when we can purchase the VE33s again. Also have you and the team thought of manufacturing your brand in the states for more supply to meet the demand ?

Eric Wahl Hi Eric! I am at 290 hours on my 2019 300i. Original piston.
Nice review, thanks. So, what was your final jetting? Or is that a secret?
We are up in Utah, so pretty high elevation. 40 pilot, n8RF clip 1 165 main
@@IRCTireUSAMoto Thanks! I'm subscribed and look forward to your next post. Brilliant stuff!
Great review! Have you had any issues with parts availability or delays?
Does any bike come with e-start & kickstart? The Keihin carburetor is appealing. I'd rather not be stranded cuz of a fuse...

a bit tough on em.
I bet you don't do enduro like him
Nothing about the flat footpegs that others have mentioned? Replace with upcanted ones?

im highly considering one of these bikes
