CG cookie tutorials are always awesome and useful. Can’t believe these are even freely available on TH-cam. Their paid courses are also great. I subscribed to their courses before, and now I stopped because of my financial situation. But I’m still using those knowledge until now in my daily blender artworks. Thank you so much, guys.
I saw this vid in my sub box earlier, but didn't press it. Tho, just now I was working on some stuff and accidentally selected all linked keys on one channel, :00 I didn't know what button I pressed, but remembered this vid, which taught me what key I pressed and way more than I could have hoped for, thank you! Very useful! Would love to see that follow up!
Holy crap, this was very useful. I have to watch it again, with a pencil and paper and write these all down until the keybind goblin in my mind sorts them and remembers them for me.
Sometimes I really wish all you older Aussie Blenderheads would get together and do a southern BCon, or week long boot camp. Without inviting that donut dude :) lol You (all) shovel out learning faster than cgmatter pumps out vacuous closeups... Thanks for the 'freebies'. And the clever humor...
Don't delete the poor default cube, have some mercy. Select the default cube and press CTLR + 5 to add 5 levels of subdivision surface to turn it into a sphere!
That was simply superb. There's a few other great videos on youtube teaching fundamental graph Editor workflow but this one really feels way more in-depth. Great stuff !
Coming back to this again and again. So much to learn :D EDIT: Btw. Maybe you can create a video like this but for the Dopesheet? Sure there are many secrets to discover for beginners.
Very useful video, the way I like it. What we need a more videos for 3d veterans coming to Blender. I had to go thorough a bunch who explained first, what a keyframe is.. so annoying
Hello..Thanks for the tut and nice way of the presentation..maybe I can add something useful: regard 4:40 sec, instead of key the sliders you can select the channels you are interested and on the graph, use shortcut: I + O(only selected channel).
Can you explain what quaternion verses euler is and why there are so many swizzels of euler in Blender and what you are supposed to use, its totally confusing for beginners
They're just different ways of writing down rotation values, explaining the difference between them would be a math tutorial, as an animator you really don't have to worry about it just use Euler, Quaternion is useful for developers since it's easier to do math with.
Hi! Do you know how to animate alpha via Graph Editor or something similar? I make games with Blender, and it used to be so easy with IPO Curve Editor, but that feature is no longer in, and I can't find any information at all on how to do a "fade out" for game, everything I find is regarding Cycles.
how to select a particular keyframe point in graph editor with some shortcut ? plz guide.. (bcoz when i select a keyframe point physically taking my cursor to the point, it is many a times selecting the handle's point not the keyframe point)
no handle controls? vector? interpolation? modifiers?.. for eg for the handle controls, im having trouble to select 2 right handles or 2 left handles without touching the median handle for different axis. im pretty sure there is a way.
I have a rig that was made for me using the rigify addon. However, when i use the graph editor for animating the char the keys dont move in a way that makes sense. i.e., z location move in a diagonal direction. I have a feeling its moving to local space, is there a way to change the space of the graph editor so that i can move my rig in a way that makes sense using the graph editor?
I can't learn from these CG Cookie videos at all. They tell you a bunch of keyboard shortcuts but they never show you where the corresponding menu commands are. I'm a beginner, you have to start simple.
Please help me out. In between 1 to 2 second i can't move or add keyframe. It's like if try to drag a key frame in between 1 to 2 second. It just snaps to 2 second in time line. It's not smooth anymore. Looks like i have hit a wrong key and now i can't add key frames between 1 to 2 seconds.
Man, this dude is so cool. His course on cg cookie is superb.
Can you send me some cours please
@pilanceboil i want to learn how to make characters

Excellent video! So many nuggets! Saved to the keepers folder!

Great tutorial. Good fun too.

Thank you for these very convenient tips, right to the goal !

Thank you so much!!!
Great! It's helpful
thank you very much
A tut about speed up the performece of the animtion will be cool^^
super tutorial ****
Great job, make more thank you for sharring.
Thanks for this. Would like to see more of course. Blender has too many hidden features 🤔
Awesome! Any way to constraint horizontally or vertically when moving a keyframe? I miss that from Maya.
If you press X or Y it should constrain your transformation along those axes.
@@gunnaryoung Yeah, I thought about that but it doesn't work for me. I probably screwed up my hotkeys
@@BlenderBob. hmmm... odd... I just tried it and it worked for me. If I get any ideas on how to fix it, I'll let you know.
@@gunnaryoung Yeah, I got it to work too. I have to change the hotkey to Short X or Y to avoid the conflict.
Thanks for the help! :-)
Very useful video, the way I like it. What we need a more videos for 3d veterans coming to Blender. I had to go thorough a bunch who explained first, what a keyframe is.. so annoying
easy easy it`s good
I feel better now...thanks
AAAAHHH ! How do you do to know what I need at the moment??
Telepathy!
7:20 this is handy

I wanted to find out how to zoom on the vertical axis only in the graph editor. The normalize button zooms both x-y but it does it proportionally(?).

😍
At frame 48 your graph editor changed to display the x,y,z locations with the color boxes. I have no idea how you go to that point.
How did you replace the cube with a Ball?

How I key the collection???
Me at 4:04. Hey could u add the feature to snap.
Me After 4:04 delete comment im not stupid
Discount Quentin Tarantino can surely animate in blender
You look so much like Tarantino lol
ugh the graph editor in blender looks needlessly over complicated
It is not, its really simple. When you learn what the stuff is for and what that does, it wont seen complicated
