@@gower1973 LPL definitely has lots of great driver stuff (amongst others) - but personally I'd love to see CG Boost do an in depth practical tutorial series, even if with less focus on a on a less complicated model - fingers crossed.
I love these type of videos that are semi-advanced, it gives me something to work towards and unlocks new possibilities. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Super informative and clear tutorial. I've never understood Blender drivers very well, but this video unlocks that level for me. Thanks, Jaun and CG Boost!
Wish I would’ve know about this a few months ago when I was rigging up my low-poly dragon. I made something like this, that was very hackey, which involved duplicated armature bones and copy location constraints on a driver. Having done that, I can safely say that this seems to be a much better solution.
can we just apriciate how the CG Boost team always makes these short neat tutorials, and even take the time to answer and help people who may have encounteret problems? we do all realy love you team CG Boost, your are a huge help for the whole blender cumunity
Just shifted from Maya and C4D, wanted to try advanced rigging stuff in blender. Thanks man, you made it look so simple and it so easy to understand! Keep up the good work! :D ❤
Unfortunately not for this robot. We have released a paid course on robot creation (including rigging and animation) called Robotic Planet. It shows a lot of cool rigging techinques useful for bots.
to 3:55, u say its nice cause it works even if u make manual changes to the bones, but hows that possible with ik bones, for intsance a finger that curls with that method but i still want to move it wit an ik system , would be nice to move the entire finger with ik bone but in fully curled mode, or straight mode, or half straight mode, basically, how to use this method AND an ik system?
You could control the finger folding with and IK bone set the IK movement as an action and add and action constraint to the IK controller bone and trigger the action with a controler bone - this way you could for example fold all of the fingers at the same time with one bone (all the IK bones would have the Action triggered with the Action constraint)
@@cgboost yup, thats what i did ;) check my two latest hands videos, both have ik fingers and controll bones curling them, also used that method for the cybertruck, great stuff that method, but than i found an other thing i couldnt solve, is there away to controll an infinite motion with an controll bone? lets say a wheel or a rotor shall rotate infinite, can i controll that and the speed with a controll bone?
Wowowowowow!!! This is perfect. About like magic. Just what I needed, complex actions made simple. Congrats. If you ever need ideas for tutorials, just ask, I have plenty. 🙂
I just recently created my dragon and was wondering how to deal with wings. This video is just the thing i need. simply awesome. I sincerely hope that there would be some tutorial on making those dragon wings you showed with perhaps additional way to use cloth simulation. Still, great video nontheless.
Wow man amazing! i will like to see a video of you solving the most comun problems in skinning.. becous sometimes its dificult to skin things like clothing or ropes !!
Are action constraints addative only? I have 2 actions stacked ontop of each other. Its a guy hitting 2 drums. The guy is not in rest pose hes sitting crouched over and the 2 actions are his arms are hitting each individual drum controlled by 2 controllers. But when i add the second action and its at 0 it doubles to transform and positon of the first action, im not sure how to blend these two? they are both sat in the same positon at frame 1 and then at frame ten they hit the drum once. drum left and drum right. None of the mixing options seem to do anything. hope that makes sense. thanks, they both seem to double the rotation of the bones unless its in rest position. might have to try something else. @@cgboost
Hi, I have some problem that I couldnt solve. Iam making my own arm and I made a controller to open the hand and also added distance limitations but when I try to move that whole arm in the space the conroller triggers the hand movement. My point is that I want the arm to do the same as in 5:06 Thank you
Awesome video! I’m having problems finding the project files in the Dropbox for this tutorial. Would love to see the robot and the super cute bird. By any chance would you be able to tell me the name of the project file?
Beautiful, gave me a lot to think about. Would've been great for my latest project. For one, I used Build-in Function for the characters' secondary motions, which is cute but basic. I also used bone constraints activated by audio levels, but it looks so limited now. Notably, lacking in-between control.
Excellent video as always :)

Thanks a lot, Binyamin!
I almost spend my money to some expensive course, but you save it. You have no idea how much i appreciated your help..........
I would really like an in depth tutorial on how to model and animate the robot arm the way you did. So amazing wow
Yeah, I definitely would as well.
Yeah, that is a crazy stuff. Looks like a terribly complicated magic for me
Check out levelpixellevel channel, think he’s got just what your looking for

Finally, I've been asking the equivalent for Maya's Set Driven Key and everyone pointed me to drivers... I just needed this constraint.
this went way over my head.. but I can tell this is super helpful, thank you!!!
I used this knowledge to animate a weapon coming out of my transformers arm. Thank you so much for this video!!

This was so incredible. I gained so much knowledge watching this. Muchas gracias!
You save me today with this tutorial bro! Thanks!
I think an in-depth video about rigging dragon wing and making that robot arm along with the animation would be cool
I agree
Would love to see the dragon wing creation including rigging!!
Wow! Didn’t know there were actions for animations. Thanks for the Info 😃👋🏻
Take a look at the non linear action animator maybe.
It's kinda like layered animation.
Really cool stuff.
Dude You are the best!!! (that is a lot to process...)
But very Good!!
Keep going like that !!!!
I am proud of you!!!
So time saving and usefull!!!
Do you have a video explaining that robot arm in more detail? Like explaining how to create a rig like that and work with it?

I am trying to put together something similar, and this tutorial helped me a lot! Thanks!
Really helpful the upfront example. Also helped me understand a bit of how all rigs get those complex but helpful controllers. Thank you!
So helpful! Corrective shape keys have saved my life

Great video mate. Hard to find decent animation videos that visualise the techniques well. Good work.
Yeay.
Juan is Back At it.
Love it
Wow, I learned alot, thanks for making this video and giving the assets out for free!
We're glad you found it useful!
Changed my world!
Once catch I found is that if you alter the pose after you setup your controller, it will offset the whole animation permanently.
Your content is pure gold, thank you!
Awesome! I pull love to learn how to model and rig a dragon!
This is very comprehensive, thanks!
Wow, I had no idea Blender was capable of this!
This is very informative. I'm now starting to understand Blender Actions.
Ok this actually moved my rigging knowledge to some very very higher level ! Thanks so much for this useful tutorial
