  • 2022 is the year of the GMT Watch. From Tudor, Longines to even Seiko the multiple timezone telling timepiece has never been more popular. Should you wait for a Tudor Black Bay Pro..? What is the next best alternative and is it an alternative? Today we compare the Tudor Black Bay Pro to the Longines Zulu-Time. Tudor or Longines which of the two would you go for? Who makes the better GMT? Would love to hear your opinions

    As some commentators have pointed out- the Longines Zulu Time does indeed have an adjustable GMT hand. Which makes it a true travellers GMT- a detail that was missed in the video. Thank you all.

      @@facelessbot963 You are correct an adjustable GMT hand would make it an office GMT. I'm not sure why @perpetuality made this mistake. The Zulu Time does not have an isolated GMT hand. The hour hand is isolated. The Zulu Time is a traveler GMT.

    The Longines has no history?? Longines came out with dual time zone watches years before anybody else including Rolex. Sure it's not a 1:1 reissue of a historical model, but Longines definitely has history.

    Longines completely killed it with the Zulu Time. Love the ceramic bezel vs steel bezel lib with blue sunburst dial vs flat black on Tudor. 3 color options for Longines and 1 for Tudor. Love how the leather bands are micro adjustable, who has that at this piece point?!? Nobody but Longines. It’s twice the total watch for the money.

      I completely agree. He skipped right over that very important detail and only highlighted the rotating bezel. A few commenters in the discussion section here don't know this and have wrongfully criticized the watch, not knowing that it's actually a true traveler GMT movement, just like the Tudor. They discuss it in detail on their Zulu Time website. It's a nice review, otherwise. 👍

      Thanks for bringing this up Rick. A detail I missed in production but had thought I covered it in my head. I like the Longines better too!
      For me personally, I think having three snowflake hands on the Tudor is just too much...
      I think it could be a nicer design if they had just made the second hand tip round like the indices.
      Or, they could've borrowed the orange pointer GMT hand from the Rolex Explorer 2 and left the other two snowflake hands as they are, but that would've opened a can of worms with a comparison to the Rolex... but it still would've looked better (imho).
      The Tudor is still a beautiful watch and I really like the toolish look of it, but for some reason the three snowflake hands makes it too busy for my eyes.
      I think the Longines is gorgeous and a refreshingly new take on a GMT watch.
      But on the other hand, if resale value is a concern, I'm sure the Tudor would win all day long.

      I really struggled on which one to purchase. Both watches are really good, but went with the BB Pro in the end. The AD had it in the configuration (band) I wanted. So far the thickness nor weight have been an issue on my 7.5 in wrist.

    Love both of these watches. The BB Pro may find its way into my collection at some point but it really is just an homage to my favorite piece - my 16550 Rolex Explorer II (Alpine/Cream dial). I have a black dial Submariner 168000 and never felt the pull to add a black dial Ex II to the box… though for less than half the price, I could add the Tudor. I already have my eye on the Pepsi BB GMT. What a stunning bezel.
    Now… the Longines. What a home run. Best new piece for 2022 imho. Saw the giant electronic ads in the Oculus in NYC on my way from the Davidoff lounge to the 1 train and fell in love at first sight. Walked right into the Longines shop and got one of the first green bezel/leather strap “livery” that had hit the store. Could not be happier with that watch. I know $3K is a bunch of money but, in the watch world, that piece is an absolute bargain. The finish on that watch has vaulted Longines into the arena with the biggest names. Next to everything else in my case, that is the one people ask about the most. Well done and huge props to Matthias Breschan, Giuseppe Miccio, and the rest of the artisans at Longines.

    I picked up the Zulu Time today, that same green bezel model. It is beautiful. A note on size commentary in TH-cam watch videos… I have 7.5 inch wrists so 42mm and 50mm lug to lug is perfect fit for me. Not too big at all. Even though they are similar in thickness, the Zulu distributed it in a way that it’s less blocky and seems thinner. But some people might like a blocky look.

    That dial on the Longines looks extremely 3D to me, I think it's because their movement is very flat and that allows them a lot of room to apply those raised numerals and logos/stars. @@garybunting3035 I misread, my bad, that’s a great choice. I’ve been thinking about it for some months it’s definitely one of the best looking GMTs out there and chronometer grade too. The thickness of the case is my main concern. Then there’s the Rolex Oyster Perpetual 41mm… beautiful elegant and flat profile on the wrist. choices, choices…

    BB Pro all day. That said, the Zulu Time is amazing and will hopefully bring more people to the brand. Also, you can buy the Zulu time, whereas the BB Pro you get to wait on a list, possibly never getting a call.

    • @pokpongl
      @pokpongl ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think that is the case. BB Pro is available at all the ADs in Europe. On the other hand, the anthracite dial of Zulu Time requires waiting list in some countries.

  • @TruckeeDoggo

    Wish Longines would lose those distracting "stars" on the dial. Reminds me of an Amazon review, with the Longines Zulu arrogantly giving itself five stars.

    I have the longines spirit zulu time in bracelet and I tried the black bay pro. I find the the black bay pro is much more comfortable to wear than the Longines. Undeniably the Longines looks better and gives better value with its third timezone capability. Quality wise, both are the same. Unfortunately, am leaning towards BB pro and plan to sell my Longines.

  • @saneepeopleonly
    @saneepeopleonly ปีที่แล้ว +8

    The price difference is obvious in that the Longines looks $1200 more than the Tudor. The finish of the Tudor hands have a lot of imperfection but is invisible to Tudor die hards. Tudor pedigree relies too much on Rolex so I’ve yet to see a review where Rolex is not invoked. Objectively, Longines is the better watch; but due to social contagion, I have a couple of Tudors 😃. Definitely add a couple of Longines to my collection.

    • @antonhallergren588
      @antonhallergren588 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah Longines makes better watches just in general than modern Tudors. Maybe not the hydrconquest or the conquest but there literally 1/3rd of the price of most Tudors and a Tudor isn't twice the watch a Hydrconquest is.
      Tudor makes great watches but omega makes better watches for not that much more and Longines makes watches equal or higher in quality for less. Although I have to say that the Tudor BB ceramic and the pelly are fantastic and BB chrono and heritage Chrono.
      Tudor needs to drop a Tudor submariner and a mini sub with basic sw200 or 2824s for 2000 dollars imo.

    I find the Longines to be the better value and more interesting watch, although the real value buy, and for those with average size wrists or just wanting more wrist presence, the Mido Ocean Star GMT is what I chose. 200m WR, 80h PR, and a true traveler's GMT. Hard to top that for its very modest price point.

    Both beautiful watches. So I tried both and eventually went for the BB-Pro. Despite the beautiful dial of the Longines, I find it a bit too bling in my opinion (i've tried the green/gold version), compared to the Tudor. And the case of the Tudor is a nice size for my wrist. The Longines looks too big in my opinion. So I am now very happy with my BB-Pro.

    I honestly am not a fan of the design of the hour hand on any Black Bay. Aesthetically, it is too large for the dial markings and too different a shape. I would prefer if the hour hand repeated the shape of the dial markings or vice versa. I do like the Tudor Advisors though.

  • @facejoker1349

    Well, my vote goes to BB pro. Purely due to my own personal limitation and the technical side.
    I cannot wear more than 40mm diameter watches. I have a small wrist. 40mm is already at the max.
    Prefer a 200m water-resistant watch.
    Prefer a In-House movement or something new. So not a modified ETA movement.
    I tried both. The zulu time is just to big. Lug to lug is wide. I don't understand why put a 3hz movement in it?. Why a 42mm case but not with a 200m water-resistant.
    Very unfortunate.

    Love that gold tone hand stack on the Longines, I can’t figure out why Tuder uses that rough (almost looks like spray-on bed liner) on all of their hands. It looks good at a glance but all the close up shots of the Tuder dial makes it look cheap imo…
