The 5 stars is a reference to vintage Longines models, as they previously used the star system for classifying the grade of their own watches. 5 stars = chronometer grade, and that still applies here! I think it’s a lovely touch, and no more or less “pretentious” than Rolex crowning themselves.

I was drooling over this watch for a while, and once I saw it in person it was a done deal. This watch is incredibly beautiful, even more so in real life.
The stars are very subtle in person, and contribute well to a very balanced look from top to bottom.
I’ve had it running for about two weeks now, and it’s only 5 seconds fast. As someone who travels for work, this was such an awesome purchase. Highly, highly recommend to anyone considering it!

I bought this watch yesterday. Green bezel gilt dial. In terms of cost it’s the by far the most expensive watch I’ve ever bought by about X3. I spent a lot of time agonizing over which watch to drop this cash on and Tudor was in the running, but in the end the Zulu won based on the fancyness factor all other things being equal. I’ve been spending a lot of time doing wrist rolls to watch the gilt dial glimmer and flash. I have to say I’m pretty pleased with my first “entry level luxury” watch.

The Zulu Time is out of my price range, but I got to try one on at a shop during Christmastime. If anyone's wondering if it looks as nice in person as it does in this video, the answer is: it looks better. All the aforementioned details (particularly those diamond cutouts) are amazing up close, and somehow the dial never feels cluttered despite the many different individual details it contains.
    Maybe somday.

The size of this one was a concern when I was shopping for traveler GMTs last month and part of why I ended up with a Grand Seiko Mistflake. While the non-GMT Spirit watches also look nice, the GMT bezel just adds something to the overall look, namely a pretty shiny bit. I'm not a fan of vintage inspired designs just for the sake of tapping into the vintage trend but this looks more classic than vintage. I both want to go into an AD to try one on to see if I could still make it work but also am afraid for my bank account of if I can.

Another thing I’m not sure about is the ability to regulate the movement: if they use laser regulation like some Tissot and possibly Hamilton models, it has to be done at a Swatch Service Center.

I could understand your prejudice if you were as old as me; Longines has a great history, but in the 80s they were reduced to making a lot of tacky looking quartz watches.
But Longines today? They Rock! Tudors strongest competition and for a very reasonable price. I got the 42mm blue Spirit Pilot; then they promptly introduced the Titanium versions and I recently got one of those! I have my eyes on one of these as well, but will they do it in Titanium? I didn't realize it was so big? The way things are these days I figured it was 40mm or smaller! That kinda changes my opinion on it a little. Now I desire it even more!
I would say Longines is my first choice these days.

No, any watch can look good. It's the quality of the movement and the accuracy that is the most important.

Video very ok. Nonchalant comment. This Longines is beautiful, with excellent performance. Appearance is a matter of taste but you have to remember that it is very versatile. For a suit, but also for jeans. By the way ... Moser Vantablack ... impresses with the price but the appearance is 8/10.

So, you're probably the best watch channel on youtube right now. Is there any chance you'll be looking at getting a 4k video camera? Your shots are framed great, have the right amount of light and so on - but the picture quality could be even higher :)

I'm still much more interested in CW's GMT offerings (I know they're caller-time, but the green C63 Sealander GMT at 12mm-thick is... ungh...) for my "I cannot reasonably afford an explorer ii" GMT, but I must admit this one has quite a stunning dial. I'm not into the military thing, but I know bunches who are -- I could see myself recommending this.

Thoughts on this vs Tag Autavia?

      Autavia

      @dfsa635 ปีที่แล้ว

I cross shopped these two at my AD. They are very different in real life, the Tag is more muted and utilitarian. The Longines has better attention to detail. Both nice, but the Longines looks and feels more refined, if that's what you want.

I find it hard to grab the time at a quick glance on the Tudor, because of the yellow GMT hand. Longines for the win.

You should try Staib mesh bracelet. They are expensive but the quality is totally on another level.

I don't see anything about the ETA A31.L01 having GMT functionality. So is that something Longines is doing themselves?

That is a smart looking watch! Great review on it too. I just paid 3300.00 for a brand new Zenith Elite chronograph with the El Primero movement. I'm ruined for buying other nice watch at retail.

@@shuycg ??? That would be a bizarre lie to post. Shopworn had a 50% off sale on Zenith watches and the Elite chronograph sold new for 6600.00 or so. My total cost was 3359.00 . My question to you is why be rude on such a stupid point. Don't believe me.

@@shuycg Then my apologies to you! What we read we hear a voice, a tone, etc. I have bought from shopworn many times for watches, jewelry, leather goods and have never been disappointed. The Zenith popped up and I bet it hadn't been on their site for more than a few hours. A very lucky find for sure.
