    Longines Spirit Zulu Time: this is a true, full functional GMT/UTC watch from Longines. You can independently set the hour-hand and the calibre will not stop ticking. Handling couldn’t be easier and it is of course the only way how one should wear such a tool-watch. Keep in mind how many wannabes there are on the market and what other manufactures charge for such a watch…

    I got this watch as my engagement present from my fiancé. I almost cried when it put it on because not only was it a significant milestone, but the watch is absolutely beautiful in every aspect. The design, the feel, the functionality, the weight…worth every single cent for the value that comes with it. I wear my green gold Zulu 42mm daily with absolute pride whilst the watch snobs at work try and find fault in it. This is the greatest watch in my collection and is worth every dollar if you’re considering it

    In my opinion Longines has done the impossible on this watch. With all that you get for the $3000 US dollars they even go one step further and make band interchange as easy as push buttons. This is a crucial feature in my watch purchases and something most watch manufacturing companies don't do even Omega and they should. You are not going to go for a swim with your leather band on. Hence the need for the bracelet and the interchangeability to the leather band. Longines offers this package on their Spirit prestige line with three band choices in the box. BRILLANT! Even the Omega Globemaster does not have this feature and I wish it did. Stay the course Longines you are doing it right. Don't wait for a Rolex GMT and save yourself a lot of money and get this watch instead.

  • @simonw2750
    @simonw2750 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    It's very good to see that Swatch Group has finally cottoned on to the enormous advantages that the Longines name still has, after a long period when it had moved from being one of the absolute prestige names in Swiss watches to being perceived more in the lower-tier luxury bracket at best. This 'Spirit' range in its entirety is a genuine attempt to recapture some of that lost ground at least, with COSC standard movements I believe across the line, and the high-quality finishing, combined with a genuine touch of class that was always associated with the Longines watches of a long time ago. This particular GMT watch, I think, is a really good proposition at the higher end of GMTs, and with its history in aviation watches - second to none at all - I would think it should do extremely well. Also, by the way, this new product development guy clearly knows what he's doing in his plans to resuscitate luxury proposition idea in the brand and I hope he succeeds. Good video as well.

      Reference ending 63.2 with leather strap. Gilt trimmed hands and numerical indices elevated from the black dial, and then that green bezel, a handsome outlier, subtle and mature, cues the British racing green on yesteryear’s Jaguar. Traditional aesthetics and with new GMT movement under the hood makes for a well woven travel companion.

    Thankyou Alexander and Giuseppe for showing these new pieces. The repositioning of the date to the six position works brilliantly for symmetry. These will certainly be on my list to look at at the AD at some point. Longines continue to impress with the models being released. I cannot make a choice as to my favourite colour combination until I see them in life but from this video the blue would be my preference by a whisker with the others tied a very close second. That on the fly strap adjustment might well sway me as well. A 48 click bezel would have been nice for those cities that do not have a full hour differential from Zulu time though given that I work with some countries that have a 1/2 hour offset. Thank you again both for sharing.

    Dear all, thanks for the presentation, a truly nice watch, but please stop talking about true or not true GMT .
    If you buy a GMT watch it’s because you want and need to to see the GMT time , the way you are presenting the watch has nothing to do with GMT but simply reading two time zones by moving the hour hand . Now every diver (60 min scale ( every 5min = 1 h ) or 12 h bezel can do the job by simply rotating the bezel .
    The meaning of having a GMT watch is to have GMT as reference time on the GMT hand ! My navigation instructor back in 1990 when I did my ATPL training was a certain Harry Hoffman , a famous navigator from Swissair , he was wearing a Longine 24h watch, a watch designed for Swissair navigators . That said without going into details for navigational purposes you need to have a reference time and that is GMT / UTC / Z , the aircraft clocks always show UTC . As a pilot you will set the 24 h hand on UTC and the regular hour hand to your local time since you always want to know what time it is at home not only for family reasons but also to keep your circadian cycle as close as possible to your home time especially on short layovers . Once landed just rotate the bezel to GMT or UTC or Z to plus or minus the UTC time you are ( eg Toronto UTC -4 ) and read the local time on the GMT hand , home time stays always the same on your watch, if you bring the 24 reference again over the 12 o’clock position you read again GMT . There is absolutely no need to open the crown and move any hour hand except for summer and winter time changes.
    This month I have been in Tokyo, Istanbul, Almaty, Toronto still have to go Dubai and Houston …I am a Cpt B777 with 22000 flight hours and I don’t know how many times I flew around the world , for sure many …and if I decide to buy this watch it’s certainly not because of its “true” function because my not true one does the same job …I share the enthusiasm you bring on your watch shows and I also understand that 99 % of GMT watch buyers will never use GMT but please don’t talk about UTC if don’t know what it actually is and what it is there for
    Kind regards
    Andy

    • @WatchAdvisor
      @WatchAdvisor  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Andy, thanks for sharing your thoughts with us! Interesting read... Everyone has its own approach and uses his watch the way he thinks is best... The Spirit Zulu Time offers a lot of comfort for a frequent traveler/jet-setter and this is exactly what I pointed out... And you must know that there are many other models who claim to be a GMT/UTC watch and they are simply not. Why? Once your calibre stops when setting the new local time there is something wrong... This is why years ago Rolex improved its calibre, set the new standard and presented the GMT-Master II ...

    • @andy773
      @andy773 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dear friend,
      I agree , everybody can use his watch the way it wants , you can buy a dive watch and never go diving , and you can buy a GMT watch without setting GMT , most people buy a watch for the feeling it gives them and that is just fine.
      I know about the Rolex GMT master ll , I have one as well that I bought back in 1995 … but guess what, it is a GMT watch because it has a 24h hand to be set on GMT ( like the Longines 24h was set on GMT for navigational purposes) . Because in aviation everything runs on UTC, North Atlantic Tacks are active between 01-08 UTC eastbound at 30 degrees west and between 1130-1900 UTC westbound at 30 west , a flight is schedule according UTC , position checks are made and UTC time recorded , traffic separation is made according Mach number and time and so on….
      As I said the 24 hand is set to GMT , true or not true watch that doesn’t matter because after landing you just rotate the bezel and read your local time on the 24 h hand while the watch always shows home time . And that is the fun and cool part of these watches id est that you never have to adjust time (on the contrary what you were showing) , you never have open the crown , you just rotate the bezel to plus or minus gmt the time zone you are in ep ipso it doesn’t matter if the watch is true or not as long as the 24h hand is set to gmt (that is what it’s there for) because by simply rotating the bezel you can read the local time .
      But of course you can do what you want but it is just doesn’t make sense to me to talk about a gmt watch without using it correctly and actually making things more complicated then they are by opening the crown and move around the hour hand when the only thing you have to do is rotating the bezel . Anyway no hard feelings , I like your presentations anyway . My kindest regards

    • @WatchAdvisor
      @WatchAdvisor  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your purposes are different than the ones who also travel, but aren't changing zone-times so often... When I travel, I prefer to see local time on my watch and to have a reference telling me home-time ... So the basic idea of the Rolex GMT-Master II is the concept to have... Important though is that the movement doesn't stop when you make any adjustments...
      By the way, this is a watch you might like...

    I'm really impressed with this watch so far, but as always we need to see it at the AD and check the quality. The blue option has my name on it, and I feel that this watch looks particularly good on the strap. Whether the movement is as good as the current version of the MT 5652 remains to be seen. Certainly the Tudor doesn't have the 24 hour hand wobble when adjusting the time zone (check the Hodinkee video) so Longines really needs to address this.

    Excellent introduction to a very enjoyable watch. I have one. Note that the camera boosts the green of the ceramic bezel. In person, the bezel is a darker green that integrates with the anthracite face perfectly, showing the green but without shouting it. In bright sunlight the bezel becomes more prominent but still nicely balanced to the overall watch. Truly well executed watch. I checked the timing - mine is running at +2 sec per day or better; well within spec. Very happy with this watch.
