Baking powder has no flavour so it shouldn't leave your pancakes with a bitter taste. Baking soda needs an acid to neutralize the bitter flavour but these pancakes don't have an acid so baking powder is used. If your baking powder is leaving a bad taste in the pancakes consider trying a different brand of baking powder.

The BEST fluffy pancake recipe EVER!! Mine turned out PERFECT .. I added cinnamon for a sweeter touch! OUT OF THIS WORLD! TO DIE FOR!! Thank you so much, Carina! 💕
Ingredients 🥞 1½ (184 grams) Cups all purpose/plain Flour🍚 4 (16 grams) Teaspoons Baking Powder🍚 Pinch of Salt🍚 1 table spoon sugar (if you want)🍙 1 Egg🥚 1¼ (310 mL) Cups Milk🥛 ¼ (55 grams) Cup Melted Butter + more for cooking ½ (2.1 grams) Teaspoon Vanilla Essence Instructions In a large bowl mix together the flour, baking powder and salt with a wooden spoon. Set to the side in a smaller bowl crack in the egg and pour in the milk.Add the melted butter and vanilla essence to the egg and milk and use a fork to mix together until everything is well combined. Make a well in the dry ingredients and pour in the wet. Fold the batter together with a wooden spoon until there are no longer any large lumps. To cook the pancakes heat a heavy based pan like cast iron over medium low heat. When the pan is hot add a small amount of butter and ⅓ cup of the pancakes batter. Cook the pancake for 2-3 minutes each side. Repeat with remaining batter. Serve the pancakes stacked high with butter and maple syrup. Enjoy. Notes You can add other flavourings to the pancakes such as blueberries or chocolate chips. Add the extra ingredients at the same time as you combine the wet and dry ingredients. 🖤Don't Hate just Make🖤 (The recipe is also in her discription but I got this from her official website, for those of us who are too slack clicking a few links 😂😣#relatable) I'm not a hero don't thank me. Made this recipe this morning, 1 August 2021, and the wife loved it. A few things to note: 1. I reduced the baking powder by one teaspoon 2. I added 2 1/2 tablespoons sugar - definitely recommended 3. Ensure that your milk is room temperature or else the butter in the fluid mixture will solidify before you can mix it with the dry ingredients 4. Recipe made six 10cm/6 inch flapjacks
this is much better improvement - I think reducing the baking powder and adding sugar gets rid of the bitter aftertaste you get when following the recipe in the video
Thank you, this brought me back to what pancakes tasted like when I was a child. Cleaner, thicker and tastier! I make these once a week. And save the leftover pancakes, put them in the toaster to reheat. Blueberry pancake taste the best. Thank you
After I learned to do your pancakes, I stopped eating pancakes at restaurants. It is soo good that even at later time of the day, it remains fluffy. Thanks for sharing your recipe.
I made one change: I only used 3 teaspoons of baking powder. Oh and I also used bread flour. These were by far the best pancakes I've ever made. And I've been cooking since 1982. Another suggestion: leave the dough a little on the thick side (not runny) - it makes the pancakes fluffier. Update 4/9/22: I used all the baking powder this time (4 tsp.) and used the bread flour - man these are hands down the BEST PANCAKES ever! I'll never go to boxed pancakes ever again; there's no comparison.

Also 2 tbsp of sugar isn’t enough at all. I added 3 and it was still not enough so if you like your pancakes sweet like me than I recommend adding at least 5 tbsp of sugar

These were the best pancakes I’ve ever made, and I have been married almost 50 years! I thought 4 tsp baking powder sounded like a lot, until I tasted them. Wow! Thank you for my new “go to” pancake recipe!
I made these 2 times, THEY WERE AMAZING!!! The first time my flipping skills were off, which made the pancakes deformed, but that is my own fault. The second time was today and they turned out unbelievably tasty! This recipe is to die for which is why I recommend it :)
I made them too and they would’ve been delicious if I added 4 teaspoons of banking soda instead of four tablespoons , I’m soo silly and they were inedible. It was my fault though
I just made these for pancake day and staring at the mini stack on my plate, which I cannot take another bite. They are amazing. I was sceptical about only using one egg and a bunch of baking powder but it worked out great. NICE fluffy and not too sweet. I added a tablespoon of sugar, buttermilk and vanilla extract .....Mmmm yummy, it was so good. This will be the recipe I use going forwards in the future.
So I'm guessing your pancakes didn't have a bitter aftertaste...?? I'm just wondering because everytime I make pancakes with more than 1 tsp of baking powder, they always end up having weird (bitter) aftertaste.
@@hazelchief-rabbit5903 you're probably using baking soda instead of baking powder. Baking soda can leave a bitter taste, while baking powder has no taste
I followed this recipe but using half of all the measured goods (which gave me 4 pancakes). It was amazing 👏☺️ definitely gonna be making this again very soon.
These pancakes are so amazing and fluffy! I just made 5 pancakes from this recipe and it is so yummy. I've never made pancakes before and they came out perfect. Edit: If you want to make half the amount don't half the ingredients or the batter will be too thick. I ended up adding a little more flour and milk as well as a whole egg instead of half. This way it's not too dry/thick.
❤ Its my daughter's birthday and we just finished brunch!! She kept telling me how much she likes these pancakes 😊❤ and her two brothers loved them!!!!! Thankyou so much for sharing this recipe ❤
Just made this today. By far, the best recipe for me. However, I increased the sugar to 50g and added 1tsp of vinegar to the milk. This was good. Thank you for sharing!
I viewed this video 2 years ago and this morning I made them. I doubled the ingredients and wow!!!! The angels sang. It was delicious. Thank you Carina. Love from Kenya 🇰🇪
I made this recipe today and it was delicious. My pancakes came out light and fluffy. I didn’t do the recommended amount of sugar because I love syrup and had to choose one or the other lol Also I added walnuts, blueberries and blackberries.
so you didn't add sugar at all? and it tasted good (with syrup)? I don't want to add any sugar to the recipe but I'm not sure how it's going to turn out without it.
A few things to note: Add one tablespoon less of baking powder I know she said sugar was optional but i highly recommend it (Like 2 1/2) And dont let the milk go too cold or it will intefere in the mixture Edit: And a very important thing under any circumstance *NEVER* use arm and hammer baking powder they will taste horrible

Tip for making moist pancakes: use oil instead of butter in the batter, also helps if you use a little sour cream or yogurt Additionally, I like adding cinnamon and brown sugar in mine
@@miagabriel4329 Actually oil makes them super moist. What I do is mix both. So I get the buttery flavor and a moist pancake. Of course I cut each in have so I don’t have greasy pancakes. I watched a video where “tasty”, (it’s a TH-cam cooking channel very good, highly recommended 👍🏽), they did an experiment making cakes, and the cake that used oil was the most moist. But of course butter 🧈 is always yummier 😋.

I love this recipe! The only thing I would do is reduce the amount of baking powder to perhaps 2/3 tsp only because they lose that nice pancake density and become too airy! Unless you like that thing lol 😂
I just made these this morning and our son loved them 🎉 I added protein powder, cinnamon and applesauce pie spice to jazz them up but the recipe is solid alone. Fluffy pancakes 🥞 were a hit🎉

Absolutely amazing recipe!!! Just warm the milk, else the butter goes weird. I used 3 tsp of baking powder and added 1 of sugar because I have a sweet tooth 😊 Thank you for this superb video and recipe
I didn’t actually really follow the video for the recipe but I just followed the ingredients in the description but they still came out amazing and they were so fluffy. Definitely going to make these pancakes again for a family breakfast over the weekend 😁😍
These are so fluffy and delicious I experienced the disconcerting feeling of eating too many big forkfuls consecutively and it clogged up in my chest. Felt like I was going to die. Thank you Carina, 10/10 will do it again. Side note, the pancakes by themselves tasted fine but if you aren't going to eat with any syrup I would double or maybe triple the sugar, if you prefer the sweetness. These also refrigerate nicely and heat for about 30s in a microwave.

I just made these and they came out bomb! My mom was really impressed with how fluffy they were. I just doubled the measurements because I was making for more people. And those asking about the milk it’s 1 and 1/4 cup for the measurements she used and 1 tbspn of sugar.
I am 30 years old and I made my first pancake after watching this! The comment I received for my first pancake from my girlfriend who had eaten enough pancakes in her life was, "these are the best pancake I have ever had" 😊
I found your video which led me to the recipe on your site and I just wanna say this recipe is amazing. I altered it a bit by adding more vanilla, some granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a dash of heavy cream. The pancakes were delicious and definitely fluffy. My mother and I loved them. I don't think I'll ever use box mix again lol
@@rebecaespada6886 Be honest with yourself. This is probably the most BASIC and bland pancake recipe out there. Idk where you're from but I'd hate to eat your cooking if you think this is anything special. This is a FOUNDATION to add other ingredients to make it flavorful. Not a stand-alone recipe..lol you're a joke
These were amazing. I used a third of the batter and popped the rest in a jug, in the fridge. They were even fluffier the following two days. Thanks for the recipe.
I don't remember when I'd originally found this video, but I came across it again today when searching for an easy pancake recipe. My pancakes will never look as gorgeous as those in the video, but they were for darn sure delicious! 🤤😋 I doubled this recipe because I know these kids are gonna be snacking on them for most of the day and can take the rest home when they go; as a result, I tweaked this recipe a little. I used 190g of both all-purpose flour and whole wheat pastry flour, 620ml/20oz of oat milk, replaced the sugar with roughly 2 Tablespoons of granulated Pyure (may add a third next time) sweetener, and added 30g of unflavored Isopure protein powder and 30g collagen peptides, all of which didn't change the taste or texture of my pancakes too much, however, results may vary depending on the brand and way these additions act. Since I had to use 2 Tablespoons and 2 teaspoons of baking powder, I used Rumford's aluminum-free (red can) baking powder, which lacks the sodium aluminum sulfate and helps avoid that bitter/acidic taste. These were super tasty with blueberry goat cheese, honey goat cheese, blueberry preserves, strawberry spread, honey, and maple syrup. Not all at once, mind you, I ate like 6 of the 28 I made, so I tried a few combinations with a side of fresh strawberries and some water. This recipe, for sure, will be my go-to going forward.
I tried so many pancakes recipies before. No one was good..always someting wrong. This is the first one with PERFECT results! i woke up late today afer being in hospital. I Want pancakes but have no box mixes at home. I found this video and im eating the most delicious fluffy pancakes of my life, better than Aunt Jumima. Thank so much!. I take a screen shot of the recipie. This is the best one!. Sad i cant post pictures here to show the results 🥰
Thank you so much for the recipe!! I cooked for 10 people and they all said it was good! And I agree, it was delicious with syrup. I would make it again. Thank you!!😊
I just made this right now, but man, it's the most fluffy and soft pancake recipe I've tried. On top of that, the ingredients are readily available in my kitchen
This is a very late comment, but I just wanted to tell you how much I love this recipe! I have been making these pancakes for my family members for years now, and they always put smiles on their faces!

The first time my flipping skills were off, which made the pancakes deformed, but that is my own fault. The second time was today and they turned out unbelievably tasty! This recipe is to die for which is why I recommend it :)
I'm so happy you enjoyed them 😊😊😊
I made them too and they would’ve been delicious if I added 4 teaspoons of banking soda instead of four tablespoons , I’m soo silly and they were inedible. It was my fault though
@@lararob6284 Please use baking powder, not baking soda next time 😅😅
Yes I will
This is the best pancake recipe I’ve ever had, made them with my daughter
Thank you so much 😊
I just made these for pancake day and staring at the mini stack on my plate, which I cannot take another bite.
How did u do half an egg???
You can beat the egg then add half of that
These pancakes are so amazing and fluffy!
These are literally the fluffiest softest pancakes I’ve EVER had 🤯 they’re so good
The pancakes were really good but I HIGHLY suggest adding some sugar into the batter

@@TK-if3ks correct I didn’t add sugar just ate it with syrup. Between the syrup and berries it was great.
A few things to note:
Add one tablespoon less of baking powder
I know she said sugar was optional but i highly recommend it (Like 2 1/2)
And dont let the milk go too cold or it will intefere in the mixture
Edit: And a very important thing under any circumstance *NEVER* use arm and hammer baking powder they will taste horrible

Thank you so much for your recipe. I have been trying different recipes since my daughter started asking for pancakes every morning, like for 2 years now, and I always make mistakes whenever. But OH MY GOODNESS! When I tried your recipe for the first time, pancakes are sold out! It's easy to cook. Does not need whisking to get it fluffy. It is now my go-to pancake recipe!

For anyone reading and looking for a better way to blend the ingredients, try putting them in a blender. It's faster, it doesn't hurt your arms and it blends the ingredients together nicely: th-cam.com/video/KeWcwdei4c0/w-d-xo.html
Tip for making moist pancakes: use oil instead of butter in the batter, also helps if you use a little sour cream or yogurt
Additionally, I like adding cinnamon and brown sugar in mine
I’m pretty sure it’s butter that makes it moist and not oil
@@miagabriel4329
Actually oil makes them super moist.

I'm not kidding! The recipe is amazing. It's the best I've ever tried

I don't remember when I'd originally found this video, but I came across it again today when searching for an easy pancake recipe. My pancakes will never look as gorgeous as those in the video, but they were for darn sure delicious! 🤤😋
I doubled this recipe because I know these kids are gonna be snacking on them for most of the day and can take the rest home when they go; as a result, I tweaked this recipe a little.
