This is a great pancake recipe, thank you. My mother, who died @ age 95, used to make delicious and pluffy pancakes. Unfortunately I didn’t pay attention when she’s making it and forgot to ask her her recipe. I've been using a similar recipe for almost 50 years. Only changes l do is adding equal parts unbleached flour, cake flour & 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar. Leaving your pancake batter sit for 10-15 minutes is key for great pancakes 🥞. Love how you explain every step 👌

I thin the batter with milk and make “crepes” . You can always cook the batter and freeze them or refrigerate them and reheat in the microwave or toaster for a quick meal or snack. Put jam/jelly or ham/sausage like a sandwich. Our family loves the crepes filled with whipped cream and berries.

A BIG mistake everyone makes with this recipe is not resting the batter for 15 minutes. You have to give the buttermilk time to work on the baking soda and create air bubbles. If you want the fluffiest pancakes, rest your batter for 15 minutes before cooking on the griddle. I use just a little more liquid so it is batter and not so thick. Thanks for enlightening the viewers with a great recipe.

Of course if you have any questions along the way, just let me know 😊 There are truly no stupid questions when you are learning to cook something new, so don’t be embarrassed to ask 🥰 Also if there’s anything you’ve always wanted to learn, or just a simple recipe that you’d like to try, send those ideas over! I’m planning some new shows to film in the fall and would love your ideas 👍🏻 Thanks for watching snd please stay tuned ❤️, Marie

Pancakes are near and dear to my heart. You touched on all the points I've known til now, but somehow I hadn't heard about acid for leavening. Thank you for that.
I once took a job at a hostel in Australia, cooking pancakes for 200 people every morning. We would mix the batter the night before in a 5 gallon bucket with an industrial drill and cement mixer.
One of the best jobs I've ever had.
Everyone loves the pancake guy! 🤷
One of my favourite things about pancakes is how they travel. Good for days, and you can literally just throw em in your pocket if you need to.

I followed the recipe, 2 cups flour and 2 cups of buttermilk. The batter was an absolute soup. I did the recipe with my daughter and we are sure we did it correctly. I had to add a half cup of flour to sort it out. The end result was still amazing.

    • @michaelsalmon6436
      @michaelsalmon6436 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hi hgc! I would like to hear more about this experience of yours. This happened to me one year ago, and, to this day, I never could figure out why it happened!
I have studied the recipes of many people, pros and amateurs alike, but nobody would admit to this type of experience.
I was careful to examine my buttermilk, and my eggs, and my flour, for signs of being out of date, and I double-checked my portions of sugar and salt to rule out the chance that I somehow mixed them up (hey, they look exactly alike! This is an easy mistake to make!).
Same thing with my portions of baking soda and baking powder. And I also carefully examined my butter ingredient, using both salted and unsalted butter. But, I have yet to discover a reason for the "soup"!
I have, by process of elimination, decided that the blame must go to the eggs, and it must have something to do with the quality of the eggs. I now only make pancakes with fresh eggs (fresh from the farmer's market), and I no longer refrigerate my eggs when I bring them home.
      Anybody else?
Happy Holidays, everyone. And thanks, Marie, for sharing your recipe for pancakes with us.

Hi Luz! Thanks for watching and for your note 🥰 Are you wanting to store the batter or the cooked pancakes? The batter can be stored in an airtight container for 2-3 days, but the pancakes will not be quite as fluffy as if made fresh. Hope that helps ❤️, Marie

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! This pancake recipe was a hit with my 6yr old daughter who loves pancakes and wants homemade pancakes on the weekend. She calls them "scrambled pancakes". Your tips were gems! You saved me $5 at the grocery store for buttermilk. I used oil instead of butter to cook them and the pancakes came out GOLDEN, light, fluffy and flavorful. I am so excited about this recipe and am learning so much from watching you cook. I watched your older recipe for pancakes and learned how to brand the pancakes. I can't wait to show off with this recipe. My only question is what do I do with all these pancakes now? It's only my daughter and I. Can I freeze the batter or pancakes or is there a recipe to yield less pancakes?

Marie - Mmmm, I love a fluffy pancake and can't wait to try your tips. My preference are berry syrups. I usually buy premade pancake batters but your clear and simple explanation has convinced me to try your recipe. Also, you're wholesome presentation is a delight to watch. And your kitchen is a beautiful backdrop to your show.

I will be making your recipe!!! Have you ever tried some thinly sliced still firm (not too soft) bananas in the batter? Not on top but in the batter. It is outrageously YUMMY.
