- Installing this simple brace may help reduce fatigue and creaks in the clutch/brake pedal assembly of your 2008-2014 WRX.
After fixing the dreaded spot weld breaks about a year ago, the tube that supports the clutch pedal motion cracked and caused painful creaking noises. This brace has fixed my issue for now - and may help reduce the chance that this failure will occur.
It's easy to make with 1"x2" aluminum bar, a 7/8" hole saw, assorted drill bits and a drill press.

Absolutely great video. Since you gave critical dimensions Id imagine you are ok with others re-producing. For anyone interested I have modeled this part and have a drawing for the one I re-created and installed. Let me know if want it so that you can get it machined

I fired some spray silicone lubricant down the tube in the pedal assembly - and into the cracks that had formed. I occasionally have to repeat this as it dries out. The brace isn't a permanent fix but does help.

the way I did it on my channel completely stopped the noise, the cracking, and the flex

I wonder if welding the crack would help any ?
Prolly would crack again unless you really built it up or made a support bracket to take some stess off the whole shaft. I think a small triangle brace welded to the opposite side of the cracked shaft and the pedal bracket. I dont feel like taking it all apart or burning anything so im going to try to mount something between the shaft and the firewall attached to the pedal bracket then use a hose clamp or something and connect them im not positive yet tho.

Why not just weld the tube?
Welding would probably be better. However, it's not something I have the skills for. I was looking for a simple repair that was possible without removing the assembly from the car. Also, a brace might help prevent the break from forming as it seems to be a common failure point.

Your video is great as it's helpful to see the pedal assembly out of the car. How easy or difficult was it to remove? Did you reweld the cracks with any success?
