- I have been waiting over a decade for a Hardcover edition of my favorite Manga of all time. Today I have the privilege of looking at an advance copy of the Berserk Deluxe Edition in Hardcover format. I compare the size of it to other books and give you an in-depth look at the build of the book.

@@Harutjun just look it up on Google pics. It was recently leaked. I got all of the jojoniums as well, that's why I'm a bit worried about diamond is Unbreakable being different. Hopefully it's not too much of a departure when we see the final product. But one of the main differences is the cover art. It looks like a normal maga cover

Update on this comment two years later....I pulled volume 1 off my shelf after the death of the author, I am almost done with volume 2 and I put in a order on IST a few days ago for the hardcover volumes of 5,6,and 7. Thank you again Omar for hyping this up! I am enjoying the early part of the ride.

@@ApexAerials as a casual manga/comic book reader I'd say it's one of the best stories I've ever read, the art work (especially later on in the series) is masterful as well. Just a warning though, there is a A LOT of disturbing stuff ie rape, torture, gore-which imo can sometimes be a bit excessive.

God damn it's so beautiful. Looks like Dark Horse did this release right. I just hope they don't stop producing them halfway. Right now that's my biggest fear. Anyways, I can't wait for mine to come in.
I think with the popularity of the book and the huge demand for years of this type of format, it's enough to keep them going all the way through.

Dark Horse is really doing Berserk justice with these deluxe editions, hopefully they're able to get later volumes in this oversized format, Miura's art is just so beautiful and detailed

Around 10 years ago, I spent a whole month reading Berserk. I was fascinated by the anime that I went straight to read the manga and couldn't stop reading it. I have waiting this long for an special, hardcover, or deluxe edition. So, yes!! I just bought all 5 volumes at once.

I preordered this and the second one as soon as they went up on amazon, and two things I want to say.
First off, the quality alone is very much worth it.
I'd say that, for anybody that's read Berserk (whether its online or through the English volumes at a friend's house or if you even own the volumes yourself), you should definitely consider picking this up if you can.
As for anybody that already owns some or all of the volumes released so far, I think that upgrading to get these might depend on how much of a fan they are.
Secondly, now that I've seen just how nice the volume looks, especially with the volume covers being included at the end, I'm so glad this is getting released over here.
Since I only own volumes 1 and 6 and never had a chance to really pick up more, I'm looking forward to collecting this release.
I just hope that there's no delays and everything turns out alright.
You are right. The amount of love and detail they poured into this format is phenomenal.
They fixed the sound effect translations.... Goddamn it, I may have to buy this now.

This is the book to try it with. It doesn't get more badass than this. However, the real meat and potatoes doesn't start until the second HC.
there are some great stories in the medium, this being one of the greatest. However getting used to reading from right to left can start off being a little tedious until you get used to it

Lol I read this for first time on 1999 which is 20 years ago. Did not knew It was already 10 years of releasing at that point.
Now it's 30 years long and still going on damn...
I love berserk and still waiting for decent modern ps4 berserk game.
(No dynasty warrior type berserk, more of a dark souls type berserk)
I was a fan of the Dreamcast game when it dropped. I also love it.

I'm glad I found this video because I just got into berserk and I only watch the series the 1997 one and I'm planning on getting the book later and I saw a deluxe version and the regular version I didn't know what better the deluxe version does but you made it clear

I’m might soon start to read berserk soon and was wondering if the deluxe edition would be a better purchase then the regular paperback also are the deluxe versions all caught up to the recent volumes or will I have to wait cause if they aren’t then I’ll just go with the paperback
The deluxe is the way to go. So far we are on volume 7 of the deluxe and on the way to 8. So it might take two more years of deluxe to catch up.

I've been wanting to get into Berserk for the longest time, just started collecting Berserk, 4 volumes in and I just realize there's the Deluxe edition... guess it's time to switch to this deluxe edition lol

Just recently purchased these books. Im a huge fan of the original anime and read some of the manga online. Having this beautiful series in hand is a different animal. Absolutely beautiful. I think this story is on the same level as lord of the rings, tbh.

I was patiently waiting for a price drop at RightStufAnime, so I could buy all 40 volumes in bulk. If I had done so, I would have lost a looot of money.

Thanks for that size comparison at the beginning. I bought the Gantz omnibus and was a little disappointed by how small they are.
From what i can see on your video this deluxe edition is the same size as the volumes in the Akira 35th anniversary Box set or the Ghost in the Shell Deluxe edition. I already have the first 2 Berserk DLX volumes pre-ordered. Let's cross our fingers and hope Dark Horse publishes the complete series.
Joe Chip I think DH knows how well this title sells and will finish it out for the long haul. I own several of their Omnibus editions, but this... this is a masterpiece.

You'd think in a world where they are readily available Dark Horse would be able to print the coloured pages.
I'm sure that price was a factor or perhaps even licensing. I mean at $50.00 that's expensive for a manga. Throwing in the color pages probably would have increased that.
It's kinda cool to see them uncolored though. More detail stands out, plus it makes it easier for fans to color them how they want.
Where can I find the colored pages?
