I work at an amazon same day shipping center, and WOW people have been ordering so many of the deluxe editions. My last shift I think I had 30 separate packages that contained vol 1 of the deluxe editions. Feels good
I must admit the paperbacks art on the cover is amazing but I am happy that I collect the deluxe edition. They look amazing on my shelf and I enjoy the larger size so I can enjoy this legendary manga.
Man yeah, the paperbacks are awesome with their cover art but can't deny the quality and the look of the Deluxe Editions. Glad they included those cover art galleries in the Deluxe Editions too! The larger format is why I love them so much as well. His artwork is incredible to witness no matter what, but the Deluxe Editions do his artwork justice even more with their print quality and larger format.
I'm also going for the Deluxe Editions, my collection of them is actually complete now. I really enjoy the large colour illustrations in the later books and I honestly can't imagine reading Berserk in a smaller format now.

I’ve gotten the first two deluxe books both for 30 bucks. I’ve been alive for 25 years and I’ve never spent money better then there. Best story I’ve ever seen.
I am a proud owner of Deluxe volumes 1 and 2 and I do intend to collect all in this format as they come along! I've watched all the available anime of Berserk, and also read quite ahead of the manga online, but holding this Bible of a book in my hands and enjoying the art in such a larger scale and pristeen quality is something else! It makes me feel like I am reading it for the first time. Can't wait to get to the volumes where I left off, but I also kinda don't want to rush it, since it is so enjoyable for me.

Berserk is my absolute favorite manga too! The story makes me cry every time (for both the sweet and the sad moments, like you said), each page is legitimately a work of art, and I love love love the characters. Generally, I prefer reading manga digitally (I know I know, it's blasphemous, but it's super convenient and there's NO gutter loss!!). I try not to have a lot of stuff because I move and travel regularly, but THESE DELUXE EDITIONS ARE SO WORTH IT! They look beautiful and every single time I open them up I am immediately immersed in Miura's artwork. The sewn binding is really the best-- part of me wishes all manga was released like this (but the other part of me knows that I'd have way too much manga if that were the case). Anyway, these volumes make me so happy, and I'd highly recommend them to any Berserk fan! Thanks as always for the video; I love having a reason to geek out about Berserk :)

There are few series where I love as many characters as I do in Berserk (another I can think of would be Dorohedoro!) but usually I'll have one or two favorites in a manga. Not with Berserk though, there's too many to count so I am the same way! Absolutely love the characters too. It's definitely one just gets you every time emotionally and glad to hear it connected with you in that way also. Nothing wrong at all with reading manga digitally! I too read a lot of series digitally especially with apps like the Shonen Jump app and what not and totally get that about traveling! It's much more convenient for sure. Seeing how now the story is being continued, it doesn't seem that they will ne needing to do that anymore! It will definitely be a bit before volume 42 is finished in it's entirety, but it is more certainly coming.
Just ordered all 10 of the deluxe versions the other day! Ive been living somewhere I couldn't order things online, but had internet. I had to dive into the anime, and am enthralled with it. 1990s anime first, then the movies, and then the newer ones (which I don't actually hate), but now I'm about to dive into my first manga. So even if you hate the anime, it converted at least one person to trying out manga lol.
I don't hate the anime but the first series is so much better than the new ones.. Starting to collect the manga now after 15 plus years of being a Berserk anime fan.
Dark Horse really outdid themselves with the Deluxe Editions. I feel like for the most part, over the years, DH never fully knew how to capitalize on manga publishing, it feels like they've been quite sloppy in many ways and they're pretty infamous for bad unnecessary spine changes, out of print problems for a lot of their popular stuff and just in general them cancelling publications for a ton of their manga. It really seems like now, there is a big audience out there, of mostly manga fans, who just want to collect high profile series in really high quality deluxe hardcover versions. I'm sure that we'll see more deluxe editions for other series from their backlog (I'd say the highest chance ones are I am a Hero, Gantz and maybe even Trigun). I think we can give Dark Horse credit for basically kick-starting the trend in the manga market where publishers go back and reprint stuff from their catalog in a fancy edition (recent examples I can think of are the Girl on the Other Side releases from Seven Seas and the full color version for Parasyte from Kodansha). I think one other difference between the hardcovers and the regular versions is the printing location. From what I remember, the hardcovers from Dark Horse are printed in China, while their regular editions are printed in either the USA or Canada, maybe you can confirm this? I feel the same way about the Deluxe Editions. They really hit it out of the park in terms of quality with these editions and really set a standard for collector's editions. But man yeah, there are a lot of series that are out of print. Dark Horse is one of those that's quite pricey to collect, especially when it comes to individual paperbacks with series like Gantz, Eden, Trigun, and what not. There is definitely a high demand now for collector's editions. More and more hardcover releases are coming out these days it seems, which I couldn't be happier about. I would love to see more from their backlog also (all that you mentioned as well as Eden are ones at the top of my wishlist)! I noticed that Seven Seas was getting into the collector's editions market and I'm excited to pick up The Girl From the Other Side. Kodansha has been announcing quite a few Deluxe and collector's editions recently. The No Longer Human Complete Edition is one I'm excited about in addition to their hardcover releases like the Parastye Full Color. A lot of great releases are being announced as of late! Here's hoping more and more publishers notice people want out of print series to be reprinted in a larger, collector's edition format (Here's hoping for GTO, Initial D)! Also I just checked and looks like the Dark Horse and DMP paperbacks were both printed in the US and the Deluxe Editions were printed in China, so you were right! Man thank you so much as always!!! I’ve collected all 14 deluxe editions in a matter of less than 3 months! People called me crazy, but buying em all on Amazon was worth it, I see you’re collecting the dark horse singlebacks. I decided that ima go the other route, and collect all the Young Animal Comics paperbacks! I currently have some, but I love the texture of the art covers on the Japanese paperbacks, they’re beautiful, and I get them a very cheaper price since I order them from Japan. Love this video! BERSERK is also my favorite manga, and it made me cry a couple of times…
i see the way you have your deluxe manga in the back there...berserk, hellsing, high school of the dead i had mine set up like that too but then changed it to berserk, HSOTD, hellsing... the spines of HSOTD from black to red is the perfect transition colors from berserk to hellsing... try it out and let me know what you think!

Currently on Deluxe edition 6 and really enjoying the series. Great video, very comprehensive. One thing I’ll say about deluxe is the readability. Collecting 3 volumes into one really helps for the fact that I cannot stop once I start reading. I find myself thumbing my way past the divider for another book very naturally. It’s so fluid and easy just blazing through chapters in rapid succession. Single volumes would drive me crazy with anticipation.

I just bought the first deluxe addition on a wim at a game store. This is the first time I've ever read a manga. This story is nuts and I. Sucked in harder than I thought possible of what I perceived as just cartoons.
About 1 year ago a friend at work introduced me to Berserk, I started by watching the 1997 anime and am now 4 deluxe editions in (5 and 6 will arrive tomorrow). I know I'm late to the series but man I am absolutely in love with Miura's work (as you can see my pfp and banner xD). It's easily become my favorite manga series.
I saw deluxe version in amazon store and decided to purchase first volume 'cuz I heard that Berserk was great. Not really sure why I always put of on watching berserk since I watched almost every "classic" anime that there is. None the less 4 days ago I got my volume and I started reading it. It kept me so into it, that I purchased volume 2 and 3 of deluxe version... and OMG, it took me by surprise that I had to purchase from 4-10 volumes! I needed to know more, though of reading it online but, deluxe just looked incomparable. Currently I am on volume 6 on deluxe version and I also watched all 3 movies from 2012 - 2013 and am thinking to watch the anime series soon as well. Also made one of my besties into it as well. Ngl, I read a lot of manga and manhwa and this easily became my number 1 favorite. Now I can see how many of "classic" anime were inspired by berserk too which is incredible to me (coming from a huge anime lover here). However, I am not sure if I will be able to contain myself reading the rest of the volumes after volume 10 of deluxe version, online. As it seems that volume 14 (the last volume) is most likely gonna come out next year and probably at the end of the 2023 at that!
Owner of all currently released Deluxe Edition volumes here. I honestly can't imagine reading Berserk in any kind of smaller format. Miura's art really feels like it was *made* for such a large format. I also got all the volumes at for around $20 off a piece, for some I paid as low as $27, so that means I technically also saved money when compared to paperback retail prices.
I recently acquired the digital version of the Berserk collection and I must say, I am thoroughly enjoying the experience. Reading them on my Samsung Galaxy S8 Ultra is truly remarkable. The large screen provides ample space for the images, which are beautifully rendered and highly detailed. Additionally, the ability to take screenshots allows me to capture and save my favorite moments from the manga.

I'm collecting the Deluxe edition, but it's gonna take a while... I've been reading a few dark fantasy books as well, some _even darker_ than Berserk, believe it or not. This manga has hit me as hard as some of the more sophisticated writers out there, which is insane. Miura is an absolute legend, his work is truly unforgettable.

The ending of the Manga reminded me of a line from the Blade Runner movie: “All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain... Time to die.”
Something interesting to note is that, in one chapter featuring the canon arm, a localizer for Dark Horse had Guts say "groovy", a nod to Evil Dead 2. Which then got removed in the deluxe version, which is a shame but not a huge loss. I appreciate you going through both the paperback and Deluxe editions. I am slowly collecting my favorite parts of Berserk since I don't have too much physical space to properly show them.
Deluxe is def the way to go for me. Though I did get vol 1 of the singles because well its vol 1. This actually got me back into manga and collecting it, and Ive been on a downward spiral every since. For those that dont know theres a Japanese magazine called YOUNG ANIMAL 2021 No.18 that has berserk poster and a memorial to Miuaro, I def recommend getting it for any Berserk fan out there. There is also a book about berserk called Berserk: With Darkness Ink.
Well this is a new recommendation... beautiful girl with an Akira poster, profound love for Berserk, and Hellsing, Blame, Knights of Sidonia, Gantze, etc on the shelves. Yeah I think I'll sub :D For sure the Deluxe Berserk is the way to go. I finally - FINALLY - got my volume 9 earlier today here in the UK after many delays and there's just no question that these volumes really do justice to Miura's style and meticulousness. The man is and always will be a legend and his work deserves nothing less. As someone who hasn't owned the normal volumes though I've been curious how they compare, so this was a helpful insight! I'm honestly going to try to get the deluxe edition of berserk I'm new to the series and I'm never seen it yet but I heard good things about it and this video confirms that I rather get the deluxe edition over the paper backs.
You cannot go wrong with what you choose but I would definitely want to experience this in the deluxe editions. I love the deluxe editions, I have not read it year as only 1-9 have come out. Idk when I should jump in lol
Yesterday I got my first ever volume of Berserk and I chose the deluxe edition… I fell in love. Even when I saw these books on the shelf in the store, they looked so menacing, and I didn’t buy them the first time I saw them. Yesterday it was like I was hypnotized and finally got my hands on it. Such a good decision.

i have already been collecting the dark horse version, but I am happy that I did. I want to keep reading and catch all the way up to the newest released volume. I also personally like the feel of a more traditional manga book being smaller and more portable is fun to have imo
for you americans the deluxe edition is definitely the best option in my country individual volumes cost 5€ and the deluxe edition is still worth it (when prices drop around 30€)
Ook lady this video just persuaded me to switch to Deluxe editions depsite having the first 3 in the single volumes and loving the small manga format. But the thing that you can spread the page and see all the artwork in the two pages without killing the spine got me excited!!
i've been wanting to get the deluxe editions for a while now, but that pricetag scares me off lol berserk has to be the best manga ive read as of now, and is genuinely one of the best pieces of art and writing as a whole in my opinion; getting at least one deluxe edition would have me feeling elated for days
I got into Berserk in mid-2021 or so and got the first six deluxe editions right away, then started collecting them as they were released. They're great omnibuses and I plan to collect only the hardbacks, even if the single volumes go much further in the story right now. It's worth the wait (and savings) to stick to just the deluxes.
I own Berserk Volume 1 to Volume 12. Own the anime series. It’s my favorite anime of all time. I prefer the individual paperbacks, because of the art on each one. Great video.

I think that Dark Horse will do a 14th deluxe edition that will be a 2 in 1 instead of a 3 in 1 to collect volumes 40 and 41.
I would really like if they added the exhibition artbook in the 14th deluxe, but it probably won't happen

Seeing how now the story is being continued, it doesn't seem that they will ne needing to do that anymore! It will definitely be a bit before volume 42 is finished in it's entirety, but it is more certainly coming.

Just ordered all 10 of the deluxe versions the other day! Ive been living somewhere I couldn't order things online, but had internet. I had to dive into the anime, and am enthralled with it. 1990s anime first, then the movies, and then the newer ones (which I don't actually hate), but now I'm about to dive into my first manga. So even if you hate the anime, it converted at least one person to trying out manga lol.

I don't hate the anime but the first series is so much better than the new ones.. Starting to collect the manga now after 15 plus years of being a Berserk anime fan.
Dark Horse really outdid themselves with the Deluxe Editions. I feel like for the most part, over the years, DH never fully knew how to capitalize on manga publishing, it feels like they've been quite sloppy in many ways and they're pretty infamous for bad unnecessary spine changes, out of print problems for a lot of their popular stuff and just in general them cancelling publications for a ton of their manga.
It really seems like now, there is a big audience out there, of mostly manga fans, who just want to collect high profile series in really high quality deluxe hardcover versions. I'm sure that we'll see more deluxe editions for other series from their backlog (I'd say the highest chance ones are I am a Hero, Gantz and maybe even Trigun). I think we can give Dark Horse credit for basically kick-starting the trend in the manga market where publishers go back and reprint stuff from their catalog in a fancy edition (recent examples I can think of are the Girl on the Other Side releases from Seven Seas and the full color version for Parasyte from Kodansha).
I think one other difference between the hardcovers and the regular versions is the printing location. From what I remember, the hardcovers from Dark Horse are printed in China, while their regular editions are printed in either the USA or Canada, maybe you can confirm this?

I feel the same way about the Deluxe Editions. They really hit it out of the park in terms of quality with these editions and really set a standard for collector's editions. But man yeah, there are a lot of series that are out of print. Dark Horse is one of those that's quite pricey to collect, especially when it comes to individual paperbacks with series like Gantz, Eden, Trigun, and what not.
There is definitely a high demand now for collector's editions. More and more hardcover releases are coming out these days it seems, which I couldn't be happier about. I would love to see more from their backlog also (all that you mentioned as well as Eden are ones at the top of my wishlist)! I noticed that Seven Seas was getting into the collector's editions market and I'm excited to pick up The Girl From the Other Side. Kodansha has been announcing quite a few Deluxe and collector's editions recently. The No Longer Human Complete Edition is one I'm excited about in addition to their hardcover releases like the Parastye Full Color. A lot of great releases are being announced as of late! Here's hoping more and more publishers notice people want out of print series to be reprinted in a larger, collector's edition format (Here's hoping for GTO, Initial D)!
Also I just checked and looks like the Dark Horse and DMP paperbacks were both printed in the US and the Deluxe Editions were printed in China, so you were right!

I’ve collected all 14 deluxe editions in a matter of less than 3 months! People called me crazy, but buying em all on Amazon was worth it, I see you’re collecting the dark horse singlebacks. I decided that ima go the other route, and collect all the Young Animal Comics paperbacks! I currently have some, but I love the texture of the art covers on the Japanese paperbacks, they’re beautiful, and I get them a very cheaper price since I order them from Japan. Love this video! BERSERK is also my favorite manga, and it made me cry a couple of times…

the spines of HSOTD from black to red is the perfect transition colors from berserk to hellsing...

Currently on Deluxe edition 6 and really enjoying the series. Great video, very comprehensive. One thing I’ll say about deluxe is the readability. Collecting 3 volumes into one really helps for the fact that I cannot stop once I start reading. I find myself thumbing my way past the divider for another book very naturally. It’s so fluid and easy just blazing through chapters in rapid succession. Single volumes would drive me crazy with anticipation.

I just bought the first deluxe addition on a wim at a game store. This is the first time I've ever read a manga. This story is nuts and I. Sucked in harder than I thought possible of what I perceived as just cartoons.

About 1 year ago a friend at work introduced me to Berserk, I started by watching the 1997 anime and am now 4 deluxe editions in (5 and 6 will arrive tomorrow). I know I'm late to the series but man I am absolutely in love with Miura's work (as you can see my pfp and banner xD). It's easily become my favorite manga series.

I saw deluxe version in amazon store and decided to purchase first volume 'cuz I heard that Berserk was great. Not really sure why I always put of on watching berserk since I watched almost every "classic" anime that there is. None the less 4 days ago I got my volume and I started reading it. It kept me so into it, that I purchased volume 2 and 3 of deluxe version... and OMG, it took me by surprise that I had to purchase from 4-10 volumes! I needed to know more, though of reading it online but, deluxe just looked incomparable. Currently I am on volume 6 on deluxe version and I also watched all 3 movies from 2012 - 2013 and am thinking to watch the anime series soon as well. Also made one of my besties into it as well.
Ngl, I read a lot of manga and manhwa and this easily became my number 1 favorite. Now I can see how many of "classic" anime were inspired by berserk too which is incredible to me (coming from a huge anime lover here). However, I am not sure if I will be able to contain myself reading the rest of the volumes after volume 10 of deluxe version, online. As it seems that volume 14 (the last volume) is most likely gonna come out next year and probably at the end of the 2023 at that!
I usually first read them online and buy the printed edition🤣

Owner of all currently released Deluxe Edition volumes here. I honestly can't imagine reading Berserk in any kind of smaller format. Miura's art really feels like it was *made* for such a large format. I also got all the volumes at for around $20 off a piece, for some I paid as low as $27, so that means I technically also saved money when compared to paperback retail prices.

I recently acquired the digital version of the Berserk collection and I must say, I am thoroughly enjoying the experience. Reading them on my Samsung Galaxy S8 Ultra is truly remarkable. The large screen provides ample space for the images, which are beautifully rendered and highly detailed. Additionally, the ability to take screenshots allows me to capture and save my favorite moments from the manga.
I am collecting both paperback and deluxe. Have not started on the deluxe collection but I am making space for it.

I'm collecting the Deluxe edition, but it's gonna take a while... I've been reading a few dark fantasy books as well, some _even darker_ than Berserk, believe it or not. This manga has hit me as hard as some of the more sophisticated writers out there, which is insane. Miura is an absolute legend, his work is truly unforgettable.

Amazon is like $20 cheaper for deluxe rn like u said. It ends up being the same price as buying the normal ones in person. Just a PSA!
Something interesting to note is that, in one chapter featuring the canon arm, a localizer for Dark Horse had Guts say "groovy", a nod to Evil Dead 2. Which then got removed in the deluxe version, which is a shame but not a huge loss. I appreciate you going through both the paperback and Deluxe editions. I am slowly collecting my favorite parts of Berserk since I don't have too much physical space to properly show them.
Deluxe is def the way to go for me. Though I did get vol 1 of the singles because well its vol 1.
This actually got me back into manga and collecting it, and Ive been on a downward spiral every since.
For those that dont know theres a Japanese magazine called YOUNG ANIMAL 2021 No.18 that has berserk poster and a memorial to Miuaro,
I def recommend getting it for any Berserk fan out there.
There is also a book about berserk called Berserk: With Darkness Ink.
My wife was awesome enough to order me the Young Animal package. My poster is framed and hanging on the wall lol.

For sure the Deluxe Berserk is the way to go. I finally - FINALLY - got my volume 9 earlier today here in the UK after many delays and there's just no question that these volumes really do justice to Miura's style and meticulousness. The man is and always will be a legend and his work deserves nothing less. As someone who hasn't owned the normal volumes though I've been curious how they compare, so this was a helpful insight! I'm honestly going to try to get the deluxe edition of berserk I'm new to the series and I'm never seen it yet but I heard good things about it and this video confirms that I rather get the deluxe edition over the paper backs.

Yesterday I got my first ever volume of Berserk and I chose the deluxe edition… I fell in love. Even when I saw these books on the shelf in the store, they looked so menacing, and I didn’t buy them the first time I saw them. Yesterday it was like I was hypnotized and finally got my hands on it. Such a good decision.

i have already been collecting the dark horse version, but I am happy that I did. I want to keep reading and catch all the way up to the newest released volume. I also personally like the feel of a more traditional manga book being smaller and more portable is fun to have imo
maybe I will still get the deluxe edition eventually when it all comes out

Ook lady this video just persuaded me to switch to Deluxe editions depsite having the first 3 in the single volumes and loving the small manga format.
But the thing that you can spread the page and see all the artwork in the two pages without killing the spine got me excited!!

berserk has to be the best manga ive read as of now, and is genuinely one of the best pieces of art and writing as a whole in my opinion; getting at least one deluxe edition would have me feeling elated for days
If you can get them on sale the price is definitely worth it. I've sat just drinking in the artwork especially on the 2 page spreads.

I got into Berserk in mid-2021 or so and got the first six deluxe editions right away, then started collecting them as they were released. They're great omnibuses and I plan to collect only the hardbacks, even if the single volumes go much further in the story right now. It's worth the wait (and savings) to stick to just the deluxes.

I own Berserk Volume 1 to Volume 12. Own the anime series. It’s my favorite anime of all time. I prefer the individual paperbacks, because of the art on each one. Great video.
