I remember downloading Berserk in college 16 years ago from the evil genius subs. It was so good and I waited every blue moon for another chapter. Haven't touched it since I graduated and waiting for these hardcovers to catch up to where I left off (when they were making their way to the fairy king). Been buying each one up for the eventual reread when it gets back to where I left off.

Got that Berserk volume 6 coming in the mail but I probably won't get it until next week. If I had just one wish, it would be for Viz to print all of Bastard!! in these kinds of volumes. Or for Dark Horse to buy the rights to Bastard!! from Viz and do it, whatever so long as I got it.

they are pretty books and wonderful for collectors, but i still prefer the actual reading experience of singles, more comfortable to hold for long periods of time.

Is IST so inept that they run out of stock even before the book was officially released? I was watching out for it for right after deluxed #5 was released and they never even showed #6 even in their Coming Soon section. Ditto with Hellsing Deluxe #2.

I actually checked if it was there after the stroke of midnight of the day of the release, it wasn't there either. Anyway, water under the bridge.

So relatable! You need a big budget if you start purchasing the Berserk series. I also start with this Hellsing collection because since it is only 3 volumes, it is way more affordable and I feel like I need to have at least one of this high quality editions in my bookshelf😬

I agree that this second volume is the peak, and I did like the part with the siege of the hellsing hq, but before and after that it's just bad. Bad writing, bad and repetitive dialogue it just feels pointless and the only thing I liked throughout the books is the artwork and the build of the books. But I didn't regret buying these, just it was a huge letdown, I thought that if something comes out in deluxe edition it must be good :) For comparison, I just started Vagabond and it's great, I've read AoT and FMA and those were great too. I hope my next DH deluxe edition I want to read (BoI) will be better than this.

Vinland is already available in beautiful HC editions that hold 2 volumes. Im hoping for a Vagabond, but the Vizbigs are still good.
