I'm reading this story for the first time in these beautiful Dark Horse deluxe editions. So far, the series is enthralling, this flashback, giving us Guts' formative experiences seems a new spin on the unlocking of potential story that I'm really enjoying. It'll be a long 5 weeks till this can be ordered.
So excited for this to arrive. Only started this series when Book 1 was solicited and I've been hooked since. It's incredibly addictive reading! Got my preorder on Book 5 already too! lol

Started reading this series last year when I heard you compare Savage Sword of Conan to this in a video. (was my first Manga buy ever, too. Got the Lovecraft manga stuff and the Battle Angel Alita box set since then as well.) So yeah, definitely getting this one. Looking at the video, the art has come a long way since the beginning...
I can't wait to pick this up, I just finished reading the 3rd deluxe edition today! I am absolutely loving Berserk so far, I'm so happy I made this my first manga. I also love the Golden Age arc. I can't wait to see what happens to Griffith at the end of it and how the story will transition back to the present, I miss seeing Puck :3 .
Part of what makes Dark Horse one of the best publishers around (in addition to their original releases and reprint rights) is how crazily inexpensive their Deluxe and Library editions are. Their MSRP is ~/>40% less than what the Big Two charge for the equivalent format and pagecount, and arguably even higher production quality. For example: Harrow County Library Edition vol 1. A 288 page, 8.3"x12.5" hardcover with thick, high quality paper, dust jacket, and ribbon bookmark, for $39.99. And their build quality has always seemed very good; I don't recall any scandals about glued binding, separation, splitting, low quality paper, etc., which have all plagued Image and DC at one time or another. It's like if Humanoids released their OHCs with a dust jacket or fabric-wrapped boards, and added ~60 pages to them, for the same price. Love Dark Horse. One of my favorite American publishers right now along with Fantagraphics and Image.
Manga collectors hate dark horse cause they take forever to reprint volumes(if ever), spine changes, poor quality omnibuses like Astro Boy and Gantz(cause they sucked at reprinting the singles!!). For the love of god please reprint Lone Wolf and Cub, Blade of The Immortal, and complete Eden: its an endless world. Fuck dark horse.
Loving these deluxe editions. I had never read this story and your overview/first look of volume one got me to try it. I am so hooked into the series now it is difficult not to pick up the individual volumes.
If anyone from Dark Horse is here collecting reaction or feedback, Please take Lone Wolf and Cub into similar oversized deluxe format. It should sell well as Berserk, if not better.
MrMfp12 With Hellsing coming and the properties they own, I require Gantz and Lone Wolf & Cub (both of which they own) to receive this treatment. Honestly, they deserve this treatment. These deluxe editions are stunning and the major manga series Dark Horse owns need the treatment. I’m also entirely for Dark Horse to also get out there and start buying manga series that’ll work with this style of edition because I would love Vinland Saga in this style (I know it has Omnibuses already but this would look so much nicer and have Nordic/Viking symbols on the front, considering how Vinland and Berserk are always being compared in both art and story, it really should be up there alongside Kingdom.)
i have messaged on their feedback to bring a deluxe hardcover edition of lone wolf and cub and new lone wolf and cub since it is going to get more traction now that hollywood is looking into do a remake of the movie, it would help if you guys did the same

I already pre ordered it (i just watch your videos because your reviews are sweet and to the point and i like seeing them before they release) but. I could very well be sent to Navy bootcamp early before it gets here so I'm pretty sad. But knowing it'll be at home waiting for me will only motivate me to get through it. Berserk has helped me through so much. Its so much more than just a manga. 10000% getting a berserk tattoo after basic training.
Volume 11 is my favourite volume. Band of the Hawk vs the Black Dog Knights... maaaaaaaaan. Seeing Guts struggle against Wyald and the savagery of it all.. it's so fucking cool. It really makes it easy to understand just how tough these apostles are and personally when I saw Guts on Wyalds back, stabbing away with a broken sword, I literally got goosebumps man. That shit was so intense.
Hey Guys, Is it confirmed that there will be 13 deluxe volumes? I know there are 40 books so far...(hiatus...) and each deluxe has 3 books to one volume. 6 that can be ordered at the moment I’m just stressing in case print stops half way through the run, same feeling with the blade of the immortal deluxe.

If the total number of compiled material exceeds the 3 in 1 projection, I believe Dark Horse will compile the last volume with an extra chapter like 4 in 1 or even divide the two latest volumes. They'll manage it.
I absolutely love the series, definitely one of my top manga. I didn’t catch it in the video but how’s the print quality? I was interesting in collecting these volumes but while reading some of the reviews, it mentioned that some of the images seemed a bit blurry, or the lines weren’t as crisp. In the video the lines look crisp but in person do they look sharp?
i don't have a lot of money... ...but sometimes you have to invest into things that bring you joy. i am going to buy the first book. i watched the 90s berserk anime last year and i was completely hooked. this anime was my gateway into the manga medium. berserk was the first manga i read. i was completely blown away. who could have known that comics could transmit such adult content? ... thank you for your videos, without you, i probably wouldn't have spent the money. have a great day.

I only have money for one deluxe volume. Which would you recommend? I want the one with the best artworks and that is the most interesting. People said that those are 4 and 5 since that's where the Eclipse happens.

Unrelated to Berserk, but what do you think of the ultimate universe (besides spidrrman -- which you just did a reading order of) -- I don't think I recall seeing ultimate X-Men or F4 in your collection? and a question regarding berserk, do you believe the story is even going anywhere anymore? it seems like it's just going to go on forever at this point, there are no stakes.. no ending in sight. and it's gotten a bit silly. these deluxe volumes are great, tho.
You say the release date is February 26th, and the Dark Horse website matches that, but Amazon says it's not releasing until March 12th. Anyone know what's going on there? Was the release date changed, or is there just a delay on it coming to Amazon for some reason? I'm VERY eager to get my hands on this one, so it will be great if I can get it earlier than expected.

Omar i do not know where to post this question / favor. So apologies for my question not being related to Berserk DLX 4 ( which i have already pre-ordered). I really would like to have your opinion on Hellsing Deluxe Volume 1 coming in July 2020. Even better if you could make a video on it like this one. Berserk 4 is a 1st day buy for me but I am on the fence about Hellsing . Although it looks like Dark Horse wants to repeat the Berserk winning formula i am just not that crazy about Hellsing art. So please i would love to have your opinion on it.

Near Mint Condition actually I’ve read it online since I wasn’t sure if I’d buy it anytime soon since I’m 17 and don’t have a steady income yet. Also not only is berserk my first time buying manga, but berserk was also the first manga I ever read, and berserk was also my first time ever watching anime through the 3 movies, other than Pokémon when I was young. Holy shit, I just realized right now how berserk was my first time in experiencing both anime and then manga, I am truly lucky
I really want to buy these deluxe, but I a just concerned about them not finishing the story! I don't want to buy them and the story goes unfinished and abandoned.
This comment will probably get buried but hopefully somebody can help me. I just finished the 1997 Berserk anime and holy shit after seeing that I now NEED to buy all of these Deluxe editions so I can experience the rest of the story. The "problem" is that I already have a huge list of omnibus and other books that I want to buy (a few of which are coming close to being OOP). So I just wanted to know how likely these books are to go OOP? I don't usually collect manga so I'm not sure if its similar to Marvel omnis where you need to be quick or if these are more evergreen type books that I can pick up at my leisure. If they are likely to go OOP sooner rather than later then I'll move them to the top of my list. Damn the FOMO in this hobby is real!
Does anyone else think Wyald is the worst Berserk antagonist? I think I get it, he kinda examplifies pure nhilism. But he just doesn't get my interest like pre much every other Berserk antagonist. He's introduced out of the blue as well.
@@NearMintCondition yeah, with a lil more character building he could've been good, but as it is; he introduced, he's nhilism personified, he dies. Even the tinman at the counts arc had more build up and payoff than Wyald. Wyald is more a plot device than a character. That being said, his little arc is still enthralling and exciting, just less of a perfect masterpiece compared to every other minor arc in Berserk

You say the release date is February 26th, and the Dark Horse website matches that, but Amazon says it's not releasing until March 12th. Anyone know what's going on there? Was the release date changed, or is there just a delay on it coming to Amazon for some reason?
I'm VERY eager to get my hands on this one, so it will be great if I can get it earlier than expected.

It's a error the video game Sword Of the Berserk Gut's Rage was Release in 1999 not in 2004 (in 2004 it was the video game Berserk: Millennium Falcon Hen Seima Senki no Shō on PS2) Dark Horse must correct this if they can.
That's right 1999 was THE Berserk DC game.

Omar i do not know where to post this question / favor. So apologies for my question not being related to Berserk DLX 4 ( which i have already pre-ordered).
I really would like to have your opinion on Hellsing Deluxe Volume 1 coming in July 2020. Even better if you could make a video on it like this one. Berserk 4 is a 1st day buy for me but I am on the fence about Hellsing . Although it looks like Dark Horse wants to repeat the Berserk winning formula i am just not that crazy about Hellsing art. So please i would love to have your opinion on it.

Near Mint Condition actually I’ve read it online since I wasn’t sure if I’d buy it anytime soon since I’m 17 and don’t have a steady income yet. Also not only is berserk my first time buying manga, but berserk was also the first manga I ever read, and berserk was also my first time ever watching anime through the 3 movies, other than Pokémon when I was young. Holy shit, I just realized right now how berserk was my first time in experiencing both anime and then manga, I am truly lucky

This comment will probably get buried but hopefully somebody can help me. I just finished the 1997 Berserk anime and holy shit after seeing that I now NEED to buy all of these Deluxe editions so I can experience the rest of the story. The "problem" is that I already have a huge list of omnibus and other books that I want to buy (a few of which are coming close to being OOP). So I just wanted to know how likely these books are to go OOP? I don't usually collect manga so I'm not sure if its similar to Marvel omnis where you need to be quick or if these are more evergreen type books that I can pick up at my leisure. If they are likely to go OOP sooner rather than later then I'll move them to the top of my list. Damn the FOMO in this hobby is real!
Dark Horse told me they plan to keep Berserk Deluxe Hardcovers in evergreen. Meaning they will stay in print.

Does anyone else think Wyald is the worst Berserk antagonist? I think I get it, he kinda examplifies pure nhilism. But he just doesn't get my interest like pre much every other Berserk antagonist. He's introduced out of the blue as well.
I wish we had to see more of him.
@@NearMintCondition yeah, with a lil more character building he could've been good, but as it is; he introduced, he's nhilism personified, he dies. Even the tinman at the counts arc had more build up and payoff than Wyald. Wyald is more a plot device than a character. That being said, his little arc is still enthralling and exciting, just less of a perfect masterpiece compared to every other minor arc in Berserk
it's a mess, they should have added the volume 13 to finish the arc with this book
