Kentaro Miura is one of the best manga artists and creators I've ever seen. I will forever be grateful to him for the work he brought us and for bringing my favorite manga onto page and into the world. May he RIP and my condolences go out to his family and friends.
I've just finished the '97 anime. I'm absolutely gobsmacked. Had no idea the reach of this franchise had! The books are now on my xmas wish list. Great video, more and more people are discovering his work everyday. Extremely underrated!

I've never really been into anime (I've maybe watched 4 or 5 short series over the past 20 years), but I recently watched Berserk because they just released the 1997 series on blu-ray and I've always heard how great it was. I liked it enough that I ordered the first deluxe edition of the manga. This will be my very first manga.
volume 8 has in addition to the usual cover arts also about 6 extra colored artworks that just look beautiful. If they keep it up like that, we might get ALL of the colored illustrations of berserk within the deluxe volumes
Love the addition of the full-color illustrations in volume 8 and volume 9 came with some too. They're beautiful and I hope that we get all of them in the coming volumes as well!
So glad i stumbled onto this video. I have begun collecting the deluxe versions and i am a first timer when it comes to the manga so im very excited. Shout out to all the Berserk fans, whether you started later or earlier through the anime like i did, it feels good to be part of this community of die hards 🙌🏽
Great review, I just got into *Berserk* recently & I’m nearly finished the 7th deluxe edition now, this is probably the best story I’ve ever read. I’ll have to buy the digital copies now because I can’t wait over 2 years to finish the story, but I also can’t wait to have all the deluxe editions on my shelf, I absolutely love these books.

i got my copy of the deluxe edition yesterday and absolutely loved it. i noticed that at the end, the page of Miura Sensei's bio had some marks and patches and thought at first mine is a faulty copy. after seeing your video, i was reassured that its meant to be like that. However, i also noticed that at the end, there is an extra line in the newer copy that has information about Miura Sensei's death and it just broke my heart a little bit. Rest in Peace. Forever remembered❤
It is worth mentioning that the last released volume was 2 years ago although there are rumors that Volume 41 is coming soon so there is really no reason to rush with the story and enjoy these oversized beautiful drawn pages.

I just ordered the first 10 volumes of this from Amazon. Ive been living somewhere where I didn't have access to shipping, or a store anywhere near me that has the Manga so I've been diving into all of the anime. Fell in love with the series, and even if it's blasphemy, I loved the newer ones too! I know everyone says how much better the manga is so even though I've never been into manga, I'm gonna start with Berserk!

@@oldmanscoffe3851 it's really hard to say as the 1997 anime was all over the place and mostly covered the golden age arc. This deluxe vol 1 will cover the original volumes 1-3 which is from what i know the black swordsman arc which was barely touched on in the 1997 anime adaptation.

I've been into Berserk since the 2016 Golden Age Arc films. I wanted to get into the series because of my love of FromSoftware games. Since then, I've been slowly making my further further into this series. This video just convinced me to finally buy the manga!
Not sure if this is the proper term for it, but in comics world we call that center area the "gutter" and refer to the lost wording as "gutter loss" as larger western comics tend to have glued binding which makes it difficult to read that Center which can lose valuable double spread art. I love these editions. I only have up to the 5th one though. But these are beautiful books.
In all honesty, I'm not quite sure the proper term for it either but that is interesting to know and hear what its called in the comic book community! I collect mostly manga and the larger collector's editions, like the Attack on Titan Colossal Editions, which are glued as well have the same issues. Always happy to see when editions like the Deluxe Editions are released and the binding is done well. And I agree with you there, these are beautiful!
I’m about to buy volume 1 deluxe for my 13 hour flight to Rome next week. It’s my first flight and I doubt I’ll be reading the whole way but I needed something to lose myself in, maybe get a little tired reading it and catch some shut eye. Mangas are much much much better than any anime You get music/animation?? You get way better art in manga You get the story getting executed in better by the author You get what author 100% wrote, unlike Tokyo ghoul where they censor almost 90% of the real content You can read manga fast and it's way better than anime Reading manga even increases your reading speed
Love these editions as Well. I recently 3D printer some bookends which make them look even better on the shelf. I am picking these up as they release but I’m waiting to read them until they are caught up with the singles. I want to save this series for later in my manga reading journey.

It's difficult to get to the end of a volume and you are so anxious to see what happens next, but you have to wait months for the next deluxe if you don't own the individual volumes. The Deluxe Editions are definitely worth the wait with how incredibly made they are and how good the pages look as you mentioned but can't go wrong with the individual volumes either if you are looking to read Berserk asap! Berserk is one of the series that I didn't want to put down, so I know how hard it would be to to wait to read the rest of the series with the Deluxe Editions when you get to the end and want to keep going!
I've never read or watched anything related to Berserk ever in my life, but this deluxe edition and your enthusiasm fascinated me. I'm planning to watch the '97 anime + movies trilogy, then proceed with the manga where the last trilogy left off. Am I going in correct direction?
Hey! That's awesome to hear that you are getting Berserk and you are in for an incredible journey! I always recommend reading the manga first just because the movies in particular leave out some context and cut some character development and moments that really connect you with the characters, so I wouldn't skip through in the manga if you plan on watching the anime first. The anime also doesn't compare to how amazing Kentaro Miura's art is, so you'll miss out on some incredible panels as well. I do recommend reading first, but if you are want to watch the anime before reading, I would recommend watching the '97 first, then read Berserk, then watch the movies. Hope that helps and enjoy! 😄

As far as Shonen manga goes: Hunter X Hunter, One Piece, Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, Yu Yu Hakusho, Pokémon Adventures, Naruto, Bleach, Inuyasha, Rurouni Kenshin, and no doubt I’m forgetting others.
Ah yes! I would absolutely love to see Trigun get the hardcover treatment as well. High up on my wishlist with Gantz as well. There are a lot of shonen that I'd love to see hardcover editions of as well and we have a lot of overlap with the ones you mentioned. Hi, I just ordered volumes 1-10 based on your recommendation. I’ve only just started to get back into manga, specifically Berzerk. I did a picture of guts on my channel.
It sucks that ive gotta wait till November for the 12th edition and March next year for the 13th. For the people who already know the story and buy the deluxe edition, check the book for vague pages. My 10th edition had like 20 pages where the ink faded away slightly but noticable. My 3th edition also had red ink problems on the cover. Ive worked at a printing company and these problems are pretty common. Yet with these masterpieces its sad to discover later on in your book that pages are faded...
I was reading a A5 Version today... Berserk Max (400 Pages+ for 10€).... And that is how I originally read it...but man it's small now. I am now into bigger pages^^
They have premium details but my volume 2 has an error in the cover symbol, it is not fully visible. It's fine, but since it's the most appreciable thing, it's a bit sad. I hope that in the following volumes that I know the same thing does not happen to me
I thought and was hoping the deluxe were compilations - are they three-in-one? Honestly I don't want 41 Berserk books on my bookshelf. Will the deluxe be limited to a total of 18?
This is a series I really wish to get into. But seeing as this is the equivalent of GoT and the author the exact same as George R R Martin, creating a series around the 90s - 30 years later and STILL in the making. I just can't waste money and time on something that will potentially outlive the author, thus never completing the series. You recommend any other series like Berserk? Planning getting on Claymore since I heard many good things about it. But box sets are all out of stock atm.
I really hope you are able to get into Berserk someday! I understand the fear of something not getting finished as someone who likes Hunter x Hunter. There's nothing quite like Berserk, but I will try my best! The one I would recommend the most is Vagabond, but that one is on hiatus currently too and since you aren't reading Berserk due to similar reasons, you may not want to jump into this one considering. Claymore is definitely up there in recommendations so that's a good one you mentioned. Gantz is another I highly recommend (you can pick up omnibuses now, but the individual volumes are expensive to collect). Anything by Tsutomu Nihei potentially may be up your alley too, like Biomega, Abara (only one hardcover so easy to complete), or Blame!. His art is amazing, so if you are looking for something with a unique style definitely check his works out. Gantz and Tsutomu Nihei's works are sci-fi, but they are fighting off inhuman enemies. Gantz has a similar gore-filled, violent nature. And in Blame!, Killy has his Gravitational Beam Emitter which absolutely destroys anything in its path where Guts has the Dragon Slayer. Similar journeys, amazing art, but totally different settings. Other recommendations: Vinland Saga and Dorohedoro (especially if you love dark humor) Hope this is of help!
Bought volume 1 a week ago and it arrived today. Decided to try and buy volume 2 today but they sold out already! I should've bought both at once lol. Now I have to wait until August.

The Deluxe Editions are definitely worth the wait with how incredibly made they are and how good the pages look as you mentioned but can't go wrong with the individual volumes either if you are looking to read Berserk asap! Berserk is one of the series that I didn't want to put down, so I know how hard it would be to to wait to read the rest of the series with the Deluxe Editions when you get to the end and want to keep going!

I've never read or watched anything related to Berserk ever in my life, but this deluxe edition and your enthusiasm fascinated me. I'm planning to watch the '97 anime + movies trilogy, then proceed with the manga where the last trilogy left off. Am I going in correct direction?
Hey! That's awesome to hear that you are getting Berserk and you are in for an incredible journey! I always recommend reading the manga first just because the movies in particular leave out some context and cut some character development and moments that really connect you with the characters, so I wouldn't skip through in the manga if you plan on watching the anime first. The anime also doesn't compare to how amazing Kentaro Miura's art is, so you'll miss out on some incredible panels as well. I do recommend reading first, but if you are want to watch the anime before reading, I would recommend watching the '97 first, then read Berserk, then watch the movies. Hope that helps and enjoy! 😄

As far as Shonen manga goes: Hunter X Hunter, One Piece, Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, Yu Yu Hakusho, Pokémon Adventures, Naruto, Bleach, Inuyasha, Rurouni Kenshin, and no doubt I’m forgetting others.

There are a lot of shonen that I'd love to see hardcover editions of as well and we have a lot of overlap with the ones you mentioned. So many possibilities and after picking up releases like the Dark Horse Deluxe Editions I'd just love to see more. All awesome choices and thanks for sharing! 😃

Hi, I just ordered volumes 1-10 based on your recommendation. I’ve only just started to get back into manga, specifically Berzerk. I did a picture of guts on my channel.
It sucks that ive gotta wait till November for the 12th edition and March next year for the 13th.
For the people who already know the story and buy the deluxe edition, check the book for vague pages. My 10th edition had like 20 pages where the ink faded away slightly but noticable. My 3th edition also had red ink problems on the cover.
Ive worked at a printing company and these problems are pretty common. Yet with these masterpieces its sad to discover later on in your book that pages are faded...
I was reading a A5 Version today... Berserk Max (400 Pages+ for 10€).... And that is how I originally read it...but man it's small now. I am now into bigger pages^^
is the page quality the same as the volumes? i love the gritty roughness of the pages on the volumes.
So These are darkhorse releases? Are they censored? Back in the day there was darkhorse release of Ghost in the shell and it had few pages censored..
They have premium details but my volume 2 has an error in the cover symbol, it is not fully visible. It's fine, but since it's the most appreciable thing, it's a bit sad. I hope that in the following volumes that I know the same thing does not happen to me
I thought and was hoping the deluxe were compilations - are they three-in-one? Honestly I don't want 41 Berserk books on my bookshelf. Will the deluxe be limited to a total of 18?

This is a series I really wish to get into. But seeing as this is the equivalent of GoT and the author the exact same as George R R Martin, creating a series around the 90s - 30 years later and STILL in the making. I just can't waste money and time on something that will potentially outlive the author, thus never completing the series.
You recommend any other series like Berserk? Planning getting on Claymore since I heard many good things about it. But box sets are all out of stock atm.
I really hope you are able to get into Berserk someday! I understand the fear of something not getting finished as someone who likes Hunter x Hunter. There's nothing quite like Berserk, but I will try my best!
The one I would recommend the most is Vagabond, but that one is on hiatus currently too and since you aren't reading Berserk due to similar reasons, you may not want to jump into this one considering. Claymore is definitely up there in recommendations so that's a good one you mentioned. Gantz is another I highly recommend (you can pick up omnibuses now, but the individual volumes are expensive to collect). Anything by Tsutomu Nihei potentially may be up your alley too, like Biomega, Abara (only one hardcover so easy to complete), or Blame!. His art is amazing, so if you are looking for something with a unique style definitely check his works out.
Gantz and Tsutomu Nihei's works are sci-fi, but they are fighting off inhuman enemies. Gantz has a similar gore-filled, violent nature. And in Blame!, Killy has his Gravitational Beam Emitter which absolutely destroys anything in its path where Guts has the Dragon Slayer. Similar journeys, amazing art, but totally different settings.
Other recommendations: Vinland Saga and Dorohedoro (especially if you love dark humor)

Bought volume 1 a week ago and it arrived today. Decided to try and buy volume 2 today but they sold out already! I should've bought both at once lol. Now I have to wait until August.
