I don't think I've ever left a comment on a TH-cam Video, but I just wanted to say Thank You!
I have an eight passenger 2019 Expedition, but for some reason the rear power folding seats would not fold back up, so its only been a five passenger Expedition for the last five months. I tried, pulling fuses, checking wires/motors, and holding buttons down (as other videos had suggested) in an attempt to reset/re-program the seats, but nothing would get them to respond. I even considered taking it to the shop, to have a mechanic look at it.
I hated that we paid thousand of dollars for an eight passenger vehicle, but still had to take two cars because we couldn't use three of the seats.
After watching this video I disconnected the battery for 2 minutes, once re-connected, I walked around to the trunk, pressed the left power folding seat button, and it responded like it was supposed to, so I pressed the right button, and just like that I had three more seats.
    Thanks Scotty.

Hi Scotty, You just saved me big $$Bucks. My 05 Jeep Grand Cherokee had a weird problem. My key fob quit working for door locks. So i changed its battery and tried to start. It ran for 2 seconds then shut off. I tried my spare key and same thing. Then it would not crank at all. Changed battery in spare key fob and no difference. I saw this video and walla..... now both keys work and start and run no problem. Also door locks now work perfect. I was faced with having it towed to the Jeep dealer and I'm sure they would have bent me over......without lube......LOL
Thanks again and God bless you and helping other folks with your knowledge. Joel R.

Some of these Mechanics today don't know which part of the car is the Right side or Left side and a lot of people don't either.I've been doing Auto Body work for 45 years and the way to tell people is the Driver's side is the Left side of the Vehicle and the passenger side is the Right side of the Vehicle, all ways remember the way you set in a car when driving and the way your Body is sitting, your Left arm sticking out the left window. is the Left side of a Car.

Like he said when your phone acts up resetting it literally fixes it. You don’t just go buy another phone. Some people think that this is just too good to be true but you should try it before buying a new computer for your car.

It's refreshing for you to do a video and you not call people stupid. People come to your channel for help, not to be called or be made to feel stupid. Decent information in this one. I've been a mechanic for nearly 40 years myself. I also have expensive scanners, electronic equipment, 2 lifts, Snap On, Mac tools and boxes along with other less expensive tools too. Most people don't need the tools that we do and can get by with cheaper stuff or they can just pay us to provide honest, professional work. Helping people and earning money in the process is the way it should be. I've worked for the military, DOD civilian, dealerships and of course myself. Oh, I'm signed in under my wife's account today, but she's surprisingly knowledgeable herself.

    Hey Scotty.
Just want to give you a great big thumbs up.
I'm an amateur tinkerer of everthing and lately our 1 and only family car came up with the dreaded P300 code via the mechanic and i had to to check every system. Long story short, thanks to your videos the car is running better than ever. The last thing i couldn't wrap my noodle around was that the car was running perfectly but the engine light was still on. I don't own a scanning tool and had to do the whole fault finding through the elimination process and
This video was the last nail in the coffin to reset the computer and put our little 2009 1.6 L TK Holden Barina back in working condition with no detectable faults. We live on the necessities and you have saved us a fortune.
God bless you Scotty, forever grateful, and will be seeking your sound advice on our car maintenance for any other future concerns

THANK YOU!!! Scotty, you just saved me $$$ and stress. Last time I drove my Hyundai Santa Fe down the mountain, I got stuck behind a mouth-breathing numb-nuts going 25 MPH (speed limit is 55). I had to ride the brakes to keep from crawling up his tailpipe. Suddenly, the transmission over-corrected and dropped into the lowest gear and the check engine light came on. I drove it to Autozone where the guy used the code reader to determine that it was a transmission problem. FML! Transmission nightmare! I limped back home and cried, until I saw this video. Worth a try! I'll be damned, it WORKED! Light is off, car's running smoothly, and I used my cheap code reader to clear any codes. Thanks for recommending that scan tool, BTW. Thank you for this very easy-to-follow video. The trick really works. My car wouldn't start yesterday (starter cranked, engine did not), so I did this and it started. One mistake I made was after doing this was, when the engine started but stalled immediately, I tried to use the accelerator pedal, like we did with old model cars. It flooded the engine, so I had to let it sit over night. That tip about the running the air conditioner was also useful. My idle RPMs went up a lot once I turned that on. Also, if you use your lights to drain the electricity from the system, be sure to turn them off before you reconnect your battery. Nothing bad happens, it is just something to remember.

Thanks Scotty, just changed my idle control valve on an 03 Element this morning, still had a rough idle, then got all bummed out. Said screw this. Drank more coffee then opened up my TH-cam app to watch something and low and behold this video popped up. Did your recommendation to reset computer and by Goodness its running smooth as a greased turd. Already had my radio code from years ago. Love your videos. Thank you so much

that's because you have a vacuum leak. Not a battery problem

    • @michaelhall7711
      @michaelhall7711 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Or any other problem that would affect where it blows

Or you didn’t listen and plugged the negative up first shorting out something. Plug the positive on first.

Oh Scotty, I’ve been impressed with you and your advice up till now. An Autozone battery? Yikes! Pulling battery power to “fix” your car? Nope, the problem was there before you reset the computer memory, and will be there after too. Only glitches should be addressed this way. Check warning lights should not.

Have had an ABS light problem that won't go away even after it being fixed. Was told $75-100 and it being cycled should fix it. That's on top of all the work done. Will give this a try. Should not need to spend even more after the fix was done and it should of gone out on it's own. So, yes, sometimes this should be done even for a warning light. Computers mess up and get stuck, too. :)

This worked for me. Hyundai Equus. Great car. But recently the battery died and i used the Anker Roav jump box(recommend it $55 on sale at bestbuy in Dec). After the jump the instrument panel didn't power up and the AC wouldn't cool. I could drive and i got warnings on radio screen not to usr while car was off...but i was driving. Lol
Obviously not everything was getting power/syncd. So i read up on it and disconnecting the batter seems to reboot the ecu. So i unhooked the negative then the positive and kept them apart. Waited 20 min, tested the horn(to drain Residual power, no noise) then hooked the battery back up. Positive terminal first, the negative terminal last. Tightened it up. Got in the car with smart key in pocket and started up the car. The dash needles lit up, faint at first almost like it was thinking then the screen in the dash came alive just like normal and no more warning signs. Everything is working as it should.
Sorry if too long, but some one out there needs this much detail.

Not always a good idea to touch the battery wires together. Some modern vehicles have telematics control units that have internal batteries (in case of battery disconnection during a theft). These batteries are normally rechargeable and charged from the main battery. Touching the cables together can blow that module 😌
