    If you’re an x-drive owner, you’ll get an AWD and DSC failure warning after doing the reset procedure in this video. Don’t panic - easy fix. Put in key, start car. Turn steering wheel all the way to left stop, then turn all the way to right stop. Warning disappears.

    Great video. Also, can better perform the discharge of internal memory circuit capacitors by disconnecting the negative post, for safety purposes then connecting the lose negative cable to the positive cable without removing the positive post cable, and only approximately 30 seconds should suffice. Turning on power circuits like the lights is a great idea, but I doubt that the circuit in the lights have anything to do with the engine performance as the intelligent battery sensor reports incoming and outgoing charged particles, but I will try and see if I find a difference, if I do, I'll report back. Lastly, throw a rag over the battery negative post, just in case, to avoid completing the circuit. I find all your videos a wealth of information. Thank you.

    It has been my understanding that, rather than touch the two disconnected leads to one another, one should connect them via a resistor so that the drain is slower so that any sensitive parts of the electrical system would not experience an excessive amperage. Any thoughts if this is correct or not?

    • @lamaq101
      @lamaq101 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you're connecting the power terminals together without the battery connected surely there won't be any amperage spikes as the battery is no longer attached to provide any power? My understanding is that this method will only drain any residual power held in the electrical systems. I'm open to be corrected, just my thoughts on the topic

    HI man. Dude i own an E92 coupe 2007 model. I want to know if this will reset every electrical system in my specific car or is there an different method for mine? I also had a high idle but knowing i had a bad alternator and replaced it, and it fixed the problem so to say, if it was a problem. Now I've gotten a new issue, where in the mornings or on cold start, the revs are quite high, should I be Worried or is this normal?

    I have a 2020 m550xi and would be scared to try that considering that there are 2 batteries in the trunk. It's still under warranty but I will keep what you did in my mind. I just feel nervous that I may burn out the complicated electronics in it.

    Great video as always dean,im considering doing this on my e60 msport as even the bmw dealership cant find the fault it has! As well as a local independent bmw garage. So im at a loss with it really... the dash cluster looses power intermittently but doesn’t effect the running of the car whatsoever. Changed alternator & regulator,new coded battery,even the crank pulley... still got the fault.

    This is a great video, thank you I will do that. I just have a question because I am experiencing problems when my car (BMW 318i E46 1999 model) is standing in the sue (I am in South Africa). The car does not start immediately and the doors does not want to open. Some mechanics here say it can be the purge valve but I am not sure.

    I have a 2011 bmw 535i xdrive. I tried this and it did reset everything except for the passenger restraint system sensor. I removed the negative and positive terminals and touched them together and also turned the lights on and left it for 15 minutes. Is there anything I didn’t do? Please let me know. I definitely love the channel and thank you for all the free advice.

    Will there be an issue with the radio going into 'safe' mode? Pulling the radio to get the code is something I'm not looking forward to.

      Im not familiar with bmw but I did go to 4 years of automotive diagnosis, service, and repair. My guess is it will just fully reset all the radio settings. But the problems will not go away, only trick the computers for a little while. Use this only when needed.
