    very good thank you very much, a great help. One little comment, it would be useful if you could cut out the spare time, ie the time when you are not on the subject because when someone is in a hurry listening to more than half an hour is frustrating when it could have been 10 minutes less. Still very good thanks.

    Thanks for the video. One thing I'd avoid is hitting a steel screwdriver with a steel hammer when the tank is open. You might create a spark - which may not be good. :)
    Re disconnecting the battery before unplugging the connectors, that appears to be a good idea. The workshop manual says "Should the fuel pump electrical connection need to be disconnected, it is imperative that the ignition should be switched off. If the ignition is on in any position the fuel gauge will memorise its last needle position prior to power down. Once power is restored the gauge will display the last remembered position regardless of the actual level of fuel in the tank. This will result in incorrect fuel gauge readings if the fuel tank has been drained and not filled worth exactly the same quantity of fuel that was removed"

      @@ThomasStudios17 Without that video, I'd have never thought to open up the left hand tank access. That other float isn't mentioned in my copy of RAVE. Thanks for that.
      What engine is in your car? I have a 2003 L322 and it has the BMW M62 4.4 petrol engine where the alternator is in the front of the engine and is water-cooled.

    So I have a 2016 Discovery sport that says the purge valve is blocked or constricted when I scan it. Iran out of gas months ago and since then I've had trouble. When I'm pumping gas the car won't start unless I sit for 15 minutes or so and give it gas as turning it on It's a whole process that I've learned because it's got progressively worse as most things do... But couple weeks ago I noticed the gas gauge didn't seem quite right but I kept refueling and used some seafoam before the check engine light came on just to make sure I didn't run out of gas up until yesterday I got stuck away from any stations and the gas light came on and now it reads zero I put $20 in the tank and it didn't go up at all. It's like there's no pressure at all when I take off my gas cap and when it first started going bad it was a crazy amount flooding out. To the point to where I noticed it wasn't normal. And it has stalled a few times in the middle of the road flashing reselect gear and then I have to literally put it in park and then put it back in drive no matter where I'm at! I know it doesn't sound related but I'm thinking there might be a way to connect those dots because my headlights will randomly go off as I'm driving sometimes just one of them sometimes just the halo sometimes just the one in the center sometimes all of them! Could all these issues be something electrical?? I've had a lot of time to ponder on this situation if you can't tell. I can't afford to take It's somewhere that's going to charge me just to diagnose... 😢 Please somebody help me!😢

    I have a Range Rover 2006 4.2 supercharged vehicle when my gas tank is full the gauge is correct, but when the gas tank hits 1/4 of a tank the car cuts out and thinks I have zero fuel? what do you think

      did you ever cure this issue? Exact same car but mines a 2005 and it's done this to me twice now. Gets to between 0 and a 1/4 and cuts out

      Try replacing the relay if that doesn’t work check your fuel filter

    I have question. I replace my fuel pump because I thought that was the problem with the gauge. It did not solve the issue. From your video it looks like there is 2 float is that correct

    • @ThomasStudios17
      @ThomasStudios17  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rashish Ramcharan yes. You have to replace both. Does your gas gauge even move when you turn on the ignition even just a little bit?

      @@ThomasStudios17 yes just a bit...so I pulled the 2nd fuel regulator and everything seem ok there was a spring loaded plastic peace...I pushed on that 3 or 4 times and put the regulator back gauge went to half tank...I full the thank and still read 1/2

    • @ThomasStudios17
      @ThomasStudios17  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rashish Ramcharan ohh ok so your main pump the float is hitting the back of your tank which is half way on your gauge . your main pump you need to lift it back out it’s not seated right on the bottom of your tank when you install it, it needs to be straight up and down there is a grove on the bottom of the tank where the pump sits. If you drain the gas alittle look in the tank from the other hole and you will see the float hitting the back side of the tank. Let me know how it goes

    • @ThomasStudios17
      @ThomasStudios17  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Watch my video really close and you will see the part I’m talking about that spring part your talking about is just to hold the reserve float in the tank. There are notches in the gas tank that the spring loaded plastic piece fits into. Compress it and slide it into the groves. Good luck
