What an intro! Absolutely brilliant! Amazing to see these classic ‘nids painted up and looking so good. Another amazing video pal, they just keeping hitting all the right notes.
The original plastic warriors are, to this day, still probably my favourite Tyranid design. You have to add 2e Screamer Killer for sure, a Genestealer Patriarch would be a cool addition too.
Good luck finding a patriarch! That thing is rare as all hell. I only know about two guys who have on in their collection. One of which had it since it originally released.
This is exactly what im doing with my leviathan set nids :) the marine side is adding to my just started scythes of the emperors force (getting back into hobby after 10 years or so) going as oldhammer as possible but with modern models :)
absolutely incredible that on top of all this painting you created life-sized but soulless biomechanical replicas of yourself and your friend to perform in this video, that handshake was the scream of the natural order in agony
@@edpaintsminis Iv managed to gather quite a substantial nid force and the start of a cult army with enthroned patriarch, which I’m planning on scratch building a pope mobile/ limo for him.
Yo! These old school projects are getting better and better. There's nothing like drinking some beers and painting up some models with a homie. The intro was sweet too. If you can find one, an old Screamer Killer or one of the old creepy little spider Biovores would be tight as hell to see alongside your bugs. Keep up the good work my man.
Thanks for another great nostalgia hit mate 👍 I personally would love to see a classic Carnifex next - it’s the first thing that enters my mind when I remember 2nd edition Tyranids 🙂 your videos have given me the inspiration to get on and paint my own classic minis! Cheers!
Screamer/ Killer.. Most definatly. If you can scare up an old school Armorcast Malefactor, that might be a close second... Otherwise add in the Carnie, and a Lictor.
Is that the early 90s, MS-DOS version of Space Hulk playing in the background @ 1:08? I loved that game as a kid. Anyways, thanks for another wonderful video!
Great opener, scarey infestation. Nice start to a classic Nid force, old sculpts still look good and fresh with a 21st century lick of redesigned paint. Of all the weird bugs you can add, I look forward to the zoanthrope, I think its the strangest version. I like your long haired Gyrinx.
I miss 2nd edition. It's where I got started and the edition I played the most aside from maybe 4th. In every edition since, adulthood preventing me from playing much. It wasn't uncommon in the last 20 years for me to get barely 10 or 15 games in before the next edition would release. I also miss the simplicity of 2nd. Sure, the RULES were a bit clunky (a product of its time) but the ARMIES were so much slimer in rules and units.
Man your videos rock. I absolutely love the intro, but you genuinely make me want to finish my shame piles, as well as introduce more of my friends to Old-hammer and the hobby in general. Keep it up!
This is BRILLIANT!! I always loved the metal genestelaers they always looked so odd and well that was the point ha great stuff and the intro ha (the poor cat)
Awesome stuff! Just came across your channel as i am repainting my 2nd ed Tyranid army from the 90s so this hit all the bells! 15 Tyranid warriors down, keen to get started on my 2 of my 4 unpainted Screamer Killers while the resin recasts of my Armorcast exocrines set 😄
How amazing is this!? Always loved these classic 'nids, with their wacky looks and crazy colours. Great job painting them! I've got a few of the rogue trader termagants, the ancient screamer-killer and a pile of those plastic genestealers from space hulk - Everything but the carnifex I use in my swarm today. Just can't beat them.
Killer intro! I always wanted the original screamer killer, look forward to seeing you getting that one done (not keen on the new updated leviathan model).
I'm thinking about restoring a bunch of retro marines I have. Most of them are still on 25mm bases, and some of the bases say they're from 1993 (I got them second hand as part of a lot)
Enjoyable video friend, your Tyranids look great! I am painting up some Ultramarines and Tyranids as well, unfortunately no one to share their glorious restoration with :D
Add in a 2nd edition Carnifex, some Genestealers, Hormagants, and a Lictor and you will have the same Tyranid army I had in the late 90s. Quite fun. 2nd edition was a blast. I did 2000-2500 pt armies of Space Marines, Orks, Nids, Eldar, Chaos Marines, and Necrons. Hopefully you do a game with this army.
Normally, I hate Contrast paints. For these guys, though... It's perfect for them. I'm in. I have about 29 or so old school guys like this that need some love.
Great video. I love the old school miniatures. Perversely, "chitin" is pronounced 'KITE - in'. I always thought those old Warriors were kind of goofy looking, they look great the way you did them. Game on!
For a minute there I was worried tbat you were going to leave the chest armour off those Tyanid Warriors. The force looks fantastic! I used to play Tyranids back in 2nd edition, my main advice is to gove everything that can take a Biomorph, a Voltage Field. Those things were nuts! +1 strength, 4++ save, and can burn out enemy power fields, all for 20pts... yes please! Would be good to add some of the classic Hormagants, the 2nd edition models have a look to them that has sadly been lost with the 3rd edition redesign.
That darn voltage field is incredible on a Carnifex or Hive Tyrant! The cost does stack up though and I am also a fan of the 50pts limit that some people impose on all wargear and biomorphs - good way to keep the game somewhat balanced!
@edpaintsminis aye, I remember once putting the +1 Toughness on my Carnifex several times, thinknit was Toughness 9 in the end, immune to Heavy Bolters. Think it needed a lot of player consent to stop abuse like I mentioned. In my defence I was young at the time!
Its great to see these early models painted as they should be .They are really quite awful in some ways but years later I find a charm in this . I stared gaming with the Tyranids 3rd edition starter army . A large outlay for a kid but a wonderful lot of stuff . It would be interesting if you did a battle report with these as I have no idea what they were like to play . Great work
What an intro! Absolutely brilliant! Amazing to see these classic ‘nids painted up and looking so good. Another amazing video pal, they just keeping hitting all the right notes.
Nice! I still have a tyranids army made of a mix of 2nd (mostly), 3rd and 4th edition models
Three generations of biomorphs in one army?! Awesome 👍
These old sculpts took to contrast surprisingly well!
Pizza, beer, and painting makes for an amazing day! That looked like an absolute blast
It’s quite funny how people in the UK truly believe that drinking neurotoxic ethanol makes everything better 😂
@@ObjectiveMedia Not just the UK, drinking poison is fun in the USA too!
Yes. They have come out really nicely
This paint job absolutely nails the 2nd Ed look 😎
When people talk about "X edition look" is this in reference to the colour schemes, or the blends and techniques used?
@@Quitchy For me, it is mainly the colour scheme. Eye-popping colours and lots of them. 😲
5:59 the most dangerous Nid ever
You have no idea. She has recently acquired the battlefield designation: Spike Bear.
I'm old enough to remember when plastic Termagants were a new thing. They hold up really well I think, and their scale is more accurate.
Love the old Tyranid warrior models, they are so hard to get hold of tho!
😂 what a brilliant intro, love your videos and the focus on 2nd edition.
I get genuinely excited by these videos. Would love to see these in a battle report. Excellent work. They look great.
That's so great to hear John Paul! Thanks so much 😊
Your Corporal Hicks is on point! :D also, beer, pizza, good company and some painting is a great way to spend the evening
Heck yeah!
Lets rock...... 💥💥💥💥💥💥
Great looking forces there.
Man, old nids really looked derpy huh lol. Always interesting to see how completely different things from decades ago looked compared to now.
Loved every second of this video. Top acting. Top filming. Top painting. Top models. You've truly nailed it here!
Wish you lived closer to Houston Texas. I’ve got a 2nd ed zoanthrope in the blister and a bunch of 2nd ed orks I could give you.
A very kind thought buddy! I'd love to get my mitts on a Zoanthrope! Thanks for the comment and your support 😊
Fantastic looking army - what a spectacle!
Really love this content! Looking forward to seeing these guys in a battle report!
Me too! Just need to get those 'stealers done and then we'll see...
Superb brighthammer paint job. Fantastic work on the intro as well.
This is exactly what im doing with my leviathan set nids :)
the marine side is adding to my just started scythes of the emperors force (getting back into hobby after 10 years or so)
going as oldhammer as possible but with modern models :)
I have been having the same thoughts! Emperor's Scythes for the win!
This channel is something special, such a great vision!
Very kind of you! Thank you 🐈
I want to see these dudes battle
So do I!
That opening scene was brilliant, and the scheme turned out lovely! Keep the quality content coming :)
Thanks Stefan! I'll endeavour to! 😎
absolutely incredible that on top of all this painting you created life-sized but soulless biomechanical replicas of yourself and your friend to perform in this video, that handshake was the scream of the natural order in agony
Good stuff dude, you earned a sub
Marvelous video, looking forward to even more oldhammer!
Such a good army.
PLEASE do more battle reports! They are so good!!!
I remember my first introduction to Warhammer 40k…it was amazing
Right in the childhood. Amazing job!
So so so so good!! SO GOOD!!
I was telling my 10 year old son all about 2nd edition today, Tyranids in particular!!
Nostalgia man!! 🥲
At one point I had every single model shown in this video. Sometimes I regret selling my collection.
Looking sick! Makes me want to grab some 2nd ed nids to go with my Hive tyrant too!
My dream 40k army alongside a gang of OG Squat Bikers.
Love the old nid designs. Can’t wait to finish my 2nd Ed blood angels so I can start on these freaky nightmares myself.
Heck yes. Join the path.
@@edpaintsminis Iv managed to gather quite a substantial nid force and the start of a cult army with enthroned patriarch, which I’m planning on scratch building a pope mobile/ limo for him.
Another great video mate. Keep them coming 👌
That hive Tyrant model is just chefs kiss, great work
That intro is gold! 💯
Yo! These old school projects are getting better and better. There's nothing like drinking some beers and painting up some models with a homie. The intro was sweet too.

Cheers MadDok! Awesome to hear! I just got my hands on a Carnifex - can't wait to paint the apoplectic orb up!
Spot on Bill Paxton there. love it.
These turned out looking great.
Welcome to another Minisode🖌🗿
Welcome.
Screamer/ Killer.. Most definatly.
If you can scare up an old school Armorcast Malefactor, that might be a close second... Otherwise add in the Carnie, and a Lictor.
I agree, add the Screamer Killer next.
Yes! I am most definitely in the market for a screamer killer!
I usually hate skits but this one made me chuckle
Amazing! Fantastic intro and paint job! Would add Gargoyles next!
These look incredible❤
that intro was wonderful
I love oldhammer so much, glad there is a new channel making quality oldhammer videos
OMG the gribblies look amazing! Would love to see you do a battle report with these!
You won't have to wait too long...
I hope we get to see these bad boys in action.
Is that the early 90s, MS-DOS version of Space Hulk playing in the background @ 1:08? I loved that game as a kid. Anyways, thanks for another wonderful video!
Absolutely! I had that bad boy on the Amiga 1200 and it was the bee's knees!
Excellent comrade, the hive mind would be proud
Retro models painted using modern paints is arguably the most satisfying thing to experience in the 21st century
That, and sourdough pizza.
Absolutely killer intro!
Absolutely class, I am loving these videos and there intros
