Hey Jay, only bc I care: Try using some gloves using green stuff, epoxy allergies due to regular handling are a thing ❤ Only came to the knowledge recently, spread the good word and help protecting hobby people ^^
Normally I don't care to watch ANYONE build and paint every model they have. But Jay has such amazing passion and childlike awe, I can't help but enjoy the heck outta all these videos!
As a tyranid player, it's great to see a big painting channel actually cover tyranids in depth. It feels so sad to go looking for anything Tyranid related and only finding a few videos scattered around.
I think the neck needed to be a little thicker especially towards the base. The head could’ve been given a slight shape to help give it a good base to build off of. The neck was also shaped like an arch when most necks usually are actually thicker on the bottom. I think the biggest reason it looks weird it because the bottom of the throat comes up very high when normally necks have a subtle almost droop downwards. I don’t have the experience to do this but I just wanted to explain why it looks a bit odd.
Not a big 40K guy, I just paint minis and Gundam models for my friends. BUT this channel is such a gem because you're so passionate about your hobby. I love the little tangents and stories behind certain models or paint jobs. Keep it up!
I absolutely love the way you paint your Tyranids. They always have a weird, vibrant, and retro sci-fi look. The painting techniques you use are the inspiration for how I paint my Tyranids.
I screwed up the polarity once too and it was a nightmare to fix. Here's a tip to prevent that in the future. Take the biggest magnet you own and color one side with a colored sharpie. From now on, any time you use magnets, stick your new magnet to your big colored magnet and use your sharpie to color the same side. Now, when you place a magnet into your model, one side will be shiny silver, and its connecting pairing piece will be colored.
I do this as I prep the models for magnetization. I fix in the body magnet, stick on the weapon/limb magnet, and use a sharpie to color the side that sticks out. That way, when I fix in the weapon magnet, I know that if I see the sharpie mark on the outside, I have the polarity wrong.
JAY! this is a great kitbash you definitely inspired me to do try kitbashing using all the techniques (sculpting, armature, and heating models!) this is as part of the hobby as painting love this model
Yeah the neck is maybe twice as long as I would have made it, but thus conversion is super cool! Lifting that body and turning it! What a treat it got!! 9,5 out of 10! 👌
Absolutely love the sculpt you've gone for. Few people saying they aren't keen on the snaky neck/head shape but i really dig it! Very different and adds to that retro feel!
Man, your channel is both so motivating and also intimidating. You pull off mini projects that end up looking amazing, and your easy breezy attitude makes it all seem so joyful, but I know that if I tried to pull off this much crafting of my models, I'd just end up giving up 15% of the way through.
5:53 - I keep a Sharpie marker in my paint brush holder to mark the magnets' correct polarity before installing them in the model. It's saved me a ton of grief over the years. 😛
I dig noodle's snake-neck. The "curvy tyranid" joke made me laugh lol. Also the paint-dot magnet trick was a great idea, I will use that going forward. Cheers!
Tyranid hive tyrant is one kit that’s is just a joy to assemble, I built it three times once each variant in the box (flying, walking, swarmlord) later I got 2 more flying variants off eBay when what I wanted was the rest of the army then I converted the walking variant to be able to use wings so I could play proper flying circus back in the day when it was good.
Noodles looks great, that slight orange tone to the highlights delivers a lot, it adds to the overall saturation and looks kinda fleshy. The sculpting was really well done too! He is unique and cool as funk!
for magnets i used to use magnetic ballbearings that where the same size as the joint, then remove as much of the plastic ball joint as i could then replace it with the metal one, then put a disk magnet in the reciving hole, that way had a poseable arms/joins
man I love this channel, I love the repose, the only thing negative I have to say about this whole video is how goofy the head is, but that's just my opinion, and I think it looks technically great just stylistically goofy
I love these. Have 2, a flyrant and hive tyrant which I just built. I will build a swarm lord soon. At first I didnt love the melee weapons, but they have really 'grown on me'
I've been using my Hive Fleet Kraken as my xenos project for 10th, definitely getting less attention than my custodes and deathguard, but when I lose motivation on those two the nids are a great palette cleanser
My best hobby tip for magnets is to sharpie the outward facing sides of each pair when they are stuck together. Then, you know that if the non-sharpie'd side is facing out from its recess, you're good to go!
Almost thought you were going for a StrongBad reference there with that S shape...anyway, I'm going with Hive Fleet Kraken for all of mine so far (Leviathan and the Xmas battle Force), except for Genestealers. Went for an inspired by Alien(s) that Midwinterminis suggested.
While I agree that swarmlord is weird, I'm really glad i saw you do the sculpting because I wouldn't know where to start with tyranids. More tyranid conversions please
Just got my first Tomb Kings; 3 old second hand Chariots without command bits and missing a head... going to do some milliput work to build a head to replace the missing and filling some gaps on one chariot's body. Also found that I had to pin a ton of parts as well as the charioteer's spine... I didn't expect these guys to be 'this' fragile. XD
Very cool as a kitbash, looks so weird and creepy. I think maybe some glowing sacs from underneath the neck could have helped the silhouette not be quite as silly looking from some angles, but from other angles it looks downright unnerving. Great job.
I really regret not magnetizing my Hive Tyrant and now in 10th all I run is Swarmlord. Luckily I went with all melee Hive Tyrant so it's not that big of a deal, but part of me really want to make an alternative build just for Swarmlord.
I admittedly know next to nothing about tyranids, but I can't help but think that long neck is a massive vulnerability. Like, that thing is begging to get decapitated.
I think something that could've really helped the head is sanding down some bits on the head plate and adding maybe a big horn or a mohawk like ridge line or something
I love how it turned out though!! Kinda makes me wanna mimic something like this for my army, I love the more slender and nimble look it gives the model
You should paint your magnets to know the polarity. Just put the magnets together and then split them and put a drop of paint on the right sides and then put them back together again. That way they will always go together even if the magnets get separated somehow.
"And I'll form the head!" Noodles turned out great! I think his neck is too skinny, maybe more of a cone shape? As a side note, there is a body you can get off of 3d printing sites and maybe Etsy that allows you to build two Hive Tyrants (winged and not winged) with one kit.
I find it a little sad that gw loves the short beefcake insects. I absolutely adore the large weird gangly tyranids. in my opinion there is never enough ganglyness. Noodles is adorable and will bring death to the galaxy!

My thoughts exactly🫣
Same tho

Don't dismiss the pro-quality filming and editing. These videos are ENTERTAINMENT.
“It looks weird” is actually a pretty good sign you’re going on the right direction with Tyranid gribblies.
Babe wake up . Eons of battle uploaded
Lol 😂
I literally just did
Literally me and my wife, we both love this channel lol
he maintain my mental sanity
EOB is the best hobby channel

When you were drawing the S shape, the whole world was waiting for you to continue on with a more different S shape and adding in some consumate V's.
Consummate Vs! CONSUMMATE!
Burninating the countryside
The "S" is for "sucks"
I’m so glad someone else was thinking this.
It means Hope!
1:12 - TROGDOOOOOOORRRRRRR !!!!
lol that’s all I saw too
It needs a Consummate V
Incredible conversion! i don't dig the snakey head much, but the craftmaship is top knotch
Not necessarily my style either, but I can respect a man who has the balls to freehand sculpt large parts of a kitbash.
Yeah, the nake could be a little shorter. Just amazing besides that.
The only thing i would have changed is that i would make the base of the neck thicker. Otherwise it's nice
Great base form, just needed a few scale plates or spikes thickening it towards the shoulders to even the look out.
I think the neck needed to be a little thicker especially towards the base. The head could’ve been given a slight shape to help give it a good base to build off of. "You know what else has hangin' sacks..." 😄😄😄😄
Thanks for another great video.

It’s funny because on his magnet tutorial video he did exactly this. I think he just forgot to do it this time.
I do this as I prep the models for magnetization. I fix in the body magnet, stick on the weapon/limb magnet, and use a sharpie to color the side that sticks out. That way, when I fix in the weapon magnet, I know that if I see the sharpie mark on the outside, I have the polarity wrong.

duuuude you invent technices other people would do a whole channel about and give them 10 seconds of screentime you are a goddamn genious!!!
This is a really cool conversion and I love it.
With the S shape, I was surprised at the lack of Trogdor jokes
This is exactly the kind of guy I'd wanna be mates with, so much love and passion for the hobby, can see how happy he is it's infectious 🤘🏻
Make an "S". Make a more different "S".
your paintjobs are super crisp, nice one
I think this tyranid already looks awesome but I do get where you are coming from.
5:53 - I keep a Sharpie marker in my paint brush holder to mark the magnets' correct polarity before installing them in the model. It's saved me a ton of grief over the years. 😛
I love how this one came out. The contrast in the color looks so good.
Of all the things I appreciate in this video, the base is really awesome - love it!
I love the additional sculpting you did on this one. Looks great!
I dig noodle's snake-neck. The "curvy tyranid" joke made me laugh lol. Also the paint-dot magnet trick was a great idea, I will use that going forward. Cheers!
Holy crap! That sculpt and creativity is amazing. Well done!
I really like this conversion, agree that you needed something to bulk out the neck, some bio sacks or jaw/neck armour might have helped. Great job
Nice work on the swim lord!! I really like you kit bash really made it your own!! Thanks gents!! Fantastic as always!!!
Love to see more of this kind of conversions
That neck does look silly but its also creepy so i like it
Noodles looks great, that slight orange tone to the highlights delivers a lot, it adds to the overall saturation and looks kinda fleshy.
The sculpting was really well done too!
He is unique and cool as funk!
I like that kitbash 100% more than the stock mini. If I ever pick up a Hive Tyrant, I am going to follow your mod for it, because that is incredible!
That’s the most beautiful model and kitbash I’ve ever seen you do. I’d love it if you did more nids!
for magnets i used to use magnetic ballbearings that where the same size as the joint, then remove as much of the plastic ball joint as i could then replace it with the metal one, then put a disk magnet in the reciving hole, that way had a poseable arms/joins
This is one of your best videos yet, super impressed with noodles, and as always in awe of the volume of skills you possess. Keep it going!
Incredible video Jay. I love how creative this was! Excited for more Tyranids content
thats a good customization, love the tape resin addition, good job
Dude, the shading on the red is great! I've never thought of doing it like that.
man I love this channel, I love the repose, the only thing negative I have to say about this whole video is how goofy the head is, but that's just my opinion, and I think it looks technically great just stylistically goofy
The first ones design still holds up to this day. I think it’s pretty great. Love the kitbash!
That long neck gives me Blue Eyes White Dragon Vibes. I think I need to kitbash a lord aswell. Love the video!
I love these. Have 2, a flyrant and hive tyrant which I just built. I will build a swarm lord soon. At first I didnt love the melee weapons, but they have really 'grown on me'

Nice conversion, awesome Paintjob, very good Base! I personally think the neck looks a little thin, but overall its a fantastic conversion!
Jay, that Hive Tyrant is amazing!!! Kudos!!
"nipple spines" is a phrase I wasn't prepared for this morning. lol
My best hobby tip for magnets is to sharpie the outward facing sides of each pair when they are stuck together. Then, you know that if the non-sharpie'd side is facing out from its recess, you're good to go!
Whoa, Nice idea extending the chimneys! Ima HAVE to do this now
Almost thought you were going for a StrongBad reference there with that S shape...anyway, I'm going with Hive Fleet Kraken for all of mine so far (Leviathan and the Xmas battle Force), except for Genestealers. Went for an inspired by Alien(s) that Midwinterminis suggested.

Dude the sculpts look sick!
I will say. I was concerned about the long neck initially. but it came out great in the paint!
How good! I finished up painting my swarmlord/hive tyrant right about the time this video uploaded. Safe to say yours looks much better than mine 😅
I don’t even play/collect Warhammer 40K … why do I enjoy this guy’s videos so much?
Just got my first Tomb Kings; 3 old second hand Chariots without command bits and missing a head... going to do some milliput work to build a head to replace the missing and filling some gaps on one chariot's body. Also found that I had to pin a ton of parts as well as the charioteer's spine... I didn't expect these guys to be 'this' fragile. XD
Those extended exhaust fins on the back with UV resin turned out amazing
I am also a hive fleet behemoth enjoyer, the 10th edition boxset finally got me to start an army of them as well
The head from the Norm Assimilator has a place reserved for when I come to build my Swarm Lord, can't wait!
Very cool as a kitbash, looks so weird and creepy. I think maybe some glowing sacs from underneath the neck could have helped the silhouette not be quite as silly looking from some angles, but from other angles it looks downright unnerving.
Great job.
You're so awesome Jay! You inspirited me to start a dark eldar army!!
man !! with the carnifex talons would have looked awesome! Looks pretty good
Could the arms not just have ball bearings sunk into them and the body have magents? That way they are multi-pose to better mix&match?
I was doubtful before the model was finished but after finishing? It looks amazing!
I really regret not magnetizing my Hive Tyrant and now in 10th all I run is Swarmlord. Luckily I went with all melee Hive Tyrant so it's not that big of a deal, but part of me really want to make an alternative build just for Swarmlord.
What a great project! Amazing work.
man its soo hard to convert nids properly but this looked awesome, and the paintjob was sick as well
the uv resin chimneys was an amazing idea!
noodles and pickles gonna tear it up on the battlefield!
I love everything but the head in this model. I'd try to give it more mass under the throat and neck zone. Anyway it is really amazing! 😍
Great conversion and paint job!
I admittedly know next to nothing about tyranids, but I can't help but think that long neck is a massive vulnerability. Like, that thing is begging to get decapitated.

Ahhhh yes the ghilie dew. A perfect mixture of a ghille suit and Mountain Dew.
Would love to see you use the cats eye magnetic nail polish to do some cool painting effects on some minis
Reminds me of Vertigo from Primal Rage
🐍
The embiggining of the stacks worked great!
Awesome altogether! Probably asked a million times - what are the massive but great tipped brushes you use?
That Swarmlord would've looked fantastic with the wing option.
“You know what else has hanging sacks…
… OUR PATREON”
You should paint your magnets to know the polarity. Just put the magnets together and then split them and put a drop of paint on the right sides and then put them back together again. That way they will always go together even if the magnets get separated somehow.
Was here many years ago when they made bases. Love it.
I wonder how medium with pearloid paint as a base with contrast paint would perform?
at this point you could sculpt the whole things out of green stuff, bravo
"And I'll form the head!" Noodles turned out great! I think his neck is too skinny, maybe more of a cone shape?
As a side note, there is a body you can get off of 3d printing sites and maybe Etsy that allows you to build two Hive Tyrants (winged and not winged) with one kit.
LOOKS WICKED
😎👍❤ Great conversion.
It's making me want a swarmlord 😅
the pose and the xoanthrope head make it look like a xenomorphe
Superb conversion 🙌🏼 Noodles best stay away from guillotines 😂
Fantastic video. I have to get me some liquid putty and tools for greenstuff
I find it a little sad that gw loves the short beefcake insects. I absolutely adore the large weird gangly tyranids. in my opinion there is never enough ganglyness.
Noodles is adorable and will bring death to the galaxy!
Love it! The base looks insane what greens did you use I’m planning to use something similar for my jungle tau.
The jungle bits are from make it epic?
"And he shall be hence forth known as, Noodles!"
what blues did you use? I'm trying to paint my hive fleet behemoth, and I'm not a fan of the blues that I got
Did you use greestuff or just superglue when sinking the magnet?
What's that you used to mask the venom cannon and the swords?
