    I just retired my ‘03 SilverPro Duraforce after 21 great mowing seasons. The engine still runs great with a coil replacement every couple years. The steel deck isn’t even rusted. Recently, the self propel cable snapped and I was done. I wanted a lighter, newer upgrade. Done mixing gas & oil. Done with a 90 pound mower. Done with coil replacement. Done with idling issues. Got an EGO 2135SP and it’s incredible! Outperforms the Lawnboy! 👍🏻✌🏻

    Top motor speed (not to exceed 3300 RPM) should be adjusted by turning the serated collar at the base of the vane which slighly modifies the tension on the spring. Each click equates 50 RPM up or down depending on the direction one turns that collar.

    After replacing the needle valve, experienced the throttle issue. The spring must have slipped out. Followed the video and now my 22 year-old LawnBoy 10324 runs perfectly. Thank you.

    Awesome video. The reassembly in particular was what I needed clarification on. Throttle was being super weird and looking at it I realized it wasn't attached to the governorspring. So it was just randomly hitting it as I played with the lever.

    A great video on how to check to see if the choke is working and to hook up the governor spring if it is unhooked. But after doing this, now the engine lopes which is usually a sign of running lean. I'm wondering if it's worth it to put the money into 3 air intake gaskets.

      I suspect it's because I do not upload on a schedule. And am frequently so busy I go months without uploading. The TH-cam Algorithm heavily punishes channels for doing that.

      @@Rustbelt_Research I see, that might be the case here. It´s strange though, I´ve subscribed to quite a fiew other channels that sometimes don´t upload for months but I still get a notification, on others, not only yours, I don´t. Must be something with TH-cam as you say.

    Quick question regarding the governor spring: I bought a new carb from amazon and everything fits great. However, im not sure if I bent the governor spring when I put it in or if im doing something wrong here. The problem is the spring loses tension when I pull the throttle back to slow. It then pops out of the bracket where it loops in.
    Any suggestions?

    I bought duraforce 107-4607 lawn boy carburetor. When I put them on my mower it has one where the engine runs way too fast and the other the engine runs way too slow. I put the gas ket. However, before installing the carburetor on the engine everything seems to work well. The valve opens and closes. What can I do to correct these problems?

  • @BlisterBang

    Good video, Cap. I'm sure it helped a lot of Lawn-Boy owners. I just have a few comments that may also help your viewers:
    While rebending the spring enabled you to regain throttle, you really should have done a little investigation into the spring. Did the end straighten out? Or did the bend break off and you made a new one? If you made a new one, then you changed the spring tension characteristics by, in effect, shortening the spring. By looking at the other end of the spring, you can see that it has somewhat straightened out, again losing more tension. All in all, this means for a long-lasting repair, the spring should have been replaced with a new one (they are available).
    IMO, you should have cleaned up the air vane governor. It's constantly moving back and forth as you mow (adjusting throttle to maintain speed). The shaft needs to be able to turn smoothly to prevent hunting/surging; you already had it out and it would have been easy to clean it up before sticking it back in.
    Lastly, I think you should have mentioned the spring tension adjuster. Some of your viewers might have separated the two, or done a few 'messing around' clicks on it.

    • @Rustbelt_Research
      @Rustbelt_Research  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The spring doesn't break off. It just slowly bends over time until it pops out.
      There's no need to replace the spring, I've been bending them back into shape for years and they last just as long as they did the first time before having to be re-bent again.
      The reason I didn't mention the adjustment wheel is that in theory, since the spring simply popped out, the adjustment will still be correct.
      The throttle shaft is lubricated by the air fuel mixture coming out of the draft tube of the carburetor. No additional lubrication is needed.
      The air vane having some small amount of surface dirt on it does not effect operation. And will probably blow off once the engine is started.
      Hope this clarifies some of it.

      @@Rustbelt_Research I'm detecting a lot of defense in your reply. My comment was meant to give additional help to viewers, not to condemn your video.
      OK, your spring didn't break. But they can break. That was my point. But since you've been bending them back for years, as opposed to new springs lasting 20 years or more (in my experience), doesn't that tell you something?
      I never mentioned lubricating the shaft. I agree that cleaning the vane itself doesn't matter. I was talking about the governor part where the spring sits and the shaft. I suggested that it be cleaned so that particles on it as it goes back and forth don't produce unnecessary wear. Surely you aren't suggesting that people keep their vane shaft dirty instead of wiping it clean while they have it out.
      I agree that if the spring simply popped out then adjustment would still be correct, assuming it was correct to begin with. I'm sure you've gotten mowers in where users, not understanding what was wrong, went after the RPM adjuster. I got one in where the user had replaced the spring on their Walbro carburetor with a spring that goes on a Lawn-Boy plastic carburetor, now that was a head-scratcher governor issue! Please re-read my comment, I wasn't talking about your specific disassembly/reassembly. I was suggesting giving a few words for users who separated the two pieces or clicked it a few times.
      Please believe me when I say my comment was intended only to help your viewers, and have a great day!

    • @Rustbelt_Research
      @Rustbelt_Research  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think the V series is as bad as everyone seems to say it is. But I think it's worse than both the older F Engines, and the newer DuraForce engines.

    Hello, My carburetor loses fuel when the engine is running and shutting down. The gasoline flows under the carburetor. I have checked the gasket is there and everything seems tight. Is this the pointo the problem? What else can I do?

    @williamvolkmann8658 ปีที่แล้ว

    The purpose of that system is the fan blowing harder slows the mower down because the engines running faster and as load it comes on with thicker grass the mower engine slows and the carburetor increases in throttle ability making it adjustable automatically as you're mowing

    Which piece makes you hear a click when you put the choke with the control? because on my dura force sylver pro lawn mower, I no longer hear this click.

    • @Rustbelt_Research
      @Rustbelt_Research  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's up in the throttle control handle. The little piece inside that makes the click wears out and stops clicking. But it will still work fine. Don't worry about it.

      Primer bulbs are an extra thing to fail, in my opinion all a good two-stroke needs is a choke that chokes good.

    • @peter041060

      It's on top just behind the choke. Be sure to route it so that it doesn't interfere with the governor.
