    Easy to follow and thorough step by step tutorials do it yourself (DIY) to help you with your broken lawn and garden equipment including snowblowers.
    I do my best to teach you how to easily diagnose problems the fastest, quickest and most efficient way with real repairs beyond just replacing a spark plug. These tips are for both the homeowner and shop owner.
    Whether it be a handheld, two stroke, two cycle engine like a chainsaw, weed eater, weed wacker, string trimmer, grass trimmer, line trimmer, hedge trimmer, strimmer, brush cutter, leaf blower, or four stroke, four cycle units like a lawnmower, wood splitter, lawn tractor, snowblower, pressure washer, generator or a ride on mower that needs parts installed or replaced, I’m your go-to guy.
    My favorite brands of spark plugs are NGK and Champion and are the ones I recommend.
    I’ve been a small engine mechanic for many decades and also run my own repair shop so my videos are loaded with tips and tricks that I have learned and want to share with you. You will also find many tool and product reviews from top brands on my channel as well.

    Dony, you should oil the air filter after it dries. Improves its capabilities to filter and keeps the foam from disintegrating.

  • @MTLeopold
    @MTLeopold 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Hi, really appreciate your videos. Wanted to note something you missed. The air filter on these need to be oiled. Soak in straight 30 weight oil. Squeeze out the excess. It shouldn't be dripping, just oily. You'll want to clean and reoil whenever you do your maintenance. At the very least once a season.
    Still enjoy this mower, no surge, 1 pull start. If only it wasn't so loud.
    Cheers.

    I loved the video and how easy it is to replace the control plastic piece for the throttle. I have to work on one push more (Murray) which have a problem leaking fuel and believe it is the rubber primer bulb which is the problem, but will check all the lines along with the bulb. I thank you for showing us how to do that and that is the way I learned to do things in the Air Force mainly, but working with someone who showed us how to do it then let us do it on our own.

    I use genuine lawnboy 2 cycle oil, its the best, it has stabilizer already in it. My Sears weed wacker wouldn't run but when I tried my mower gas mixed with lawnboy oil, wow it starts easy. The mixture is different but my arm was sore and the weed wacker was happy! The old guy at Ace Hardware gave me a bunch of bologna that the various brands of 2 cycle oil are all the same. I told him no thanks, I'll drive across town to another Ace that carried genuine Lawn Boy oil.

    I really appreciate your videos.
    It has come in handy a few times.I enjoy repairing my neighbours lawn mowers & others.
    I now have a problem that I do not know if you have covered it.
    I have CRAFTSMAN 21 IN 6.0 EASY START, ( Canadian ) Several years old.
    It always started on the 1st or 2nd pull. I pulled the plug and holding it on the motor there was no spark when I get someone to pull the rope..Yes I wear gloves or you can get one hell of a jolt.
    I guess the coil or whatever it is called needs to be replaced ??.
    Any suggestions?

    I just picked up a Lawn-boy.
    It starts on first pull but for the first 3-5 minutes it runs with high RPMS then will rev down to normal and it runs like a dream. It doesn't sputter, smoke, or surge and the rev control on the handle works fine. Im guessing the governor is sticking until it warms up and frees it self?

    I have a Lawnboy SilverPro Model#10324. For some reason, when its idling or not in heavy grass it constantly throttles up and down. Its done this for several years. I changed the spark plug, cleaned the contacts on the electronic ignition, took the carburetor completely apart including the jets and cleaned it with gasoline and compressed air. I checked the throttle cable to make sure it was moving the assembly back and forth. It still throttles up and down. I can hold the governor paddle in a certain position and the engine smooths out but when I let go it moves back and forth. I can't figure out whats causing this.

    That was pretty quick and easy! I have a old craftsman that has a stuck throttle body. Is there any way to just remove it and make it so its full throttle always? I don't mow much and probably have less than 5 hrs on my main one over the last 15 yrs. This one was my grandfathers who needed it gone due to Alzheimer's which made it just to dangerous. Guess its my revenge for disconnecting the throttle cable. It didn't have a air filter for the last 5 yrs also. Thought I should mention that.

      I was just looking at those tables at princess auto, Bruce did a great job with that, I was even thinking to save some money maybe you could just use a ride on mower lift and somehow rig up a similar size board to it, not sure if it would work but I thought hey, why not look into it.
      ---
      I just picked up one of these mowers for 20 bucks on Kijiji (dead) but figured it would be a good little project, I don't know much about them though, it seems the compression is low, i will test it tomorrow, I'm not sure what they are rated at (psi) is this engine one of lawn boys better ones, worth the effort if it needs an Overhaul? other then the compression, the machine is in really good shape, I assume that with these 2 cycles, some people (mid mowing) in a hurry may have just "winged it" on the mix, maybe it was running way too lean and finally burnt out.
      any advice or info would be great!

    • @MTLeopold
      @MTLeopold 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, if you're sure there is fuel. The oil is mixed in right. It's not old gas. Then how strong it's the spark? Starter fluid will burn easier. Also how did you clean the jets? Is there an air leak? There is one other thing, clogged exhaust. There is a U shaped pipe under the deck. Sometimes it needs to be cleaned. It's a PITA. You'll need a tube of gasket maker.
