Great content. I had a 4240 new, $33,000 in 1982. It was 110 hp. It was a great tractor. It was the middle tractor on the farm and got used the most. 40 years later, they are still a great tractor. With excellent maintenance and conscientious operators, they will last a lifetime. Hard to beat at any price.
I would love to see a video on turning up a stanadyne pump. I know enough to get in trouble. If I knew that I could surpass trouble and go straight to dangerous. Lol. Keep em coming.
Two things that no one has on TH-cam is the installation of modern tractor steps on a 55, 50, 40, and 30 series tractor. The second is installing new LED lights into existing housings in the same series as mentioned above. I’ve got a JD 2955 and a 2640 as to the ones I’m interested in particularly.
I like the video you really show everything your talking about I have always been a IH man but I'm thinking of buying a 4440 to play with keep up the good videos
In 1980 traded for a 1970 5020 wheat land special about 140 h p. 1 or 2 yrs later dad had an m and w turbo put on it. The dyno showed 168 h p. I don't remember if they changed injectors or not.
Farm that I use to work on had a 4240 with M&W turbo it sounded mean but never seemed to have the power I thought it should have. They also had a 4020 M&W turbo setup but turbo had changed out for bigger one it seemed to have as much power as 4240. A Dyno is on my list of things to get. Good video
Too bad you couldn’t get all of what you did in the video. Happens to all of us. You think the camera is recording and it just stands at the ready waiting to record. I missed missed what I thought would have been some really great shots. Oh well, live and learn. Slowly, in my case 😆
Sorry Boys, You can't get a John Deere to run like a Farmall .. John Deere's have nice cabs , nice drive, But they should have got IH motors for Power.

Sharp-looking 4240
I just love the 40 series John Deere tractors!
Nice job on the "plumbing". Intake pipe was impressive..
The boys did a nice job there, Bill. They are taking after you. A good thing. Take care.
Nice plumbing!
Thanks for helping me understand diesel engine technology
Happy to help

HaHa, l'll have to see if l can help you get into the danger zone!
Good morning Bill. Great job!
Thanks, 'mornin!
I like pretty much everything you put on here
Looking forward to seeing the finished Dyno run with some cranked R's.
I like your channel and all the green tractors, keep up the good work.
Thanks Barry, l'll keep posting and you keep watching.
Beautiful installation! Looking forward to the final result after the pump swap.
Thanks William, good to hear from you.
Wow its hard to believe you get that much HP of it but when completed it should be beast God Bless

Nice day on the green. Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not talking about golf

I'm complaining about not seeing the whole video!😛😛

We have a late 1982 4240 factory open station flat top fenders
Cool!
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
Should be enough for straw
Nice 👍
did you add a straight 4inch chrome stack
No this customer wanted a muffler.
Neat Video!
Thanks Eddie.
great stuff
Would you be able to make another set of intake pipes for me? Does a stock Muffler fit on the exhaust elbow?
Yes, we could make the pipes, we make the exhaust elbow, a 4440 muffler is used.
Nice work y’all, what’s the exhaust temp hit at full load?
How much do you charge I have one I want it added too
My dad's 766 Farmall had 105 I think non turbo
Maybe he will pay attention to temp gage
Yeah, he's a good operator, he's not going to use full power in the field anyway.

We'll make up for it somehow.
😊
I put a turbo on my 4430
The turbo will get a lot of HP out of a motor...
who sales bigger injecters for a john deere
Try Fair Valley, they are a good shop.
@@so.md.dirtfarmer2226 ok thanks
How much does it shorten its life by. Smoking is bad for her health.
Current research is inconclusive.
Ain’t nothing wrong with that

True, IH not as great on creature comfort or hydraulics but IH engine is raw horsepower that is unsurpassed.
Can't beat the resell value of a John Deere
How come a turbocharged JD 4020 still with the rotory pump on it beats all the turned up red tractors around here by 20 feet?
Wish my 4240 had a p pump and a turbo. Heck wish the a/c worked this south Texas heat is not fun 🥵
They should have merged . You’d have the best of both worlds.
you have become my second favorite channel
Well l'll keep workin' on it just in case there's a chance l can move up one notch!
@@so.md.dirtfarmer2226 keep up the good work
