The Mandalorian made the idea of fighting droids a lot more scarier than the original movie's battledroids

which makes the idea that there were HK assassin droids in episode 13 that got none of the respect kinda painful. Even if the late models were supposed to be inferior to their predecessors, it still hurts a bit.

I really like the way it moves. It's not just a robot mimicing a human. It actually uses it's servos, turns around on the spot and aims at several targets at the same time. For Star Wars this is very functional and well thought out. It also makes IG 11 very alien like and menacing. Very well done.

Fun fact: The IG-88 series rebelled against their makers and killed them to become bounty hunters. The IG units were also illegal under the galactic republic. I kinda like the idea of IG-11 being somewhat similar to a physically disabled individual going through physical therapy. He has to relarn how to walk, to pick things up without breaking them, to move things, to be efficient, to notice small creatures, and even do something like pouring a cup of tea (Which can be difficult if one isn't used to using two hands, I know that when I was a kid I missed pouring water into my cup because I didn't understand the idea of a arc, and I recall my cousins being similar).

The B-1s were always known for quantity over quality. but had the CIS made subtle improvements over the course of the clone wars, they’d be more Formidable. It’s just a shame the factories were shut down, a missed opportunity to be used by the empire.

    • @watch50er

IG-11 before his reconstruction would have annoyed HK-47 whom is a hunter with a mission beyond the kill. HK picks his kills to get the most results out of the target’s death effectively calculating and banking on the sociological response to basically keep the galaxy in order. Not an in the moment and simple subsistence super turret that IG- acts like (even though his movements and targeting are precise and waste nothing)
While HK would dislike IG being a nurse droid more (unless he respects the need to protect and nurture the child) the door was now opening for IG to evolve a personality that could comprehend and appreciate the ripple effects of a single drastic action, how to predict eventualities, and how to benefit from them.
And not at least learning how to hunt the way HK does would perhaps be the most distressing for HK.
As for combating each other I suspect HK’s more varied arsenal would help and his tendency to not mess around by relying on blasters and would go for ion weapons/stunners if he really wanted IG dead.
