Everyones talking about the pause button lol imagine flying a real fpv drone with no pause button 😂 i wouldnt have ended up in a pond a couple times lmao
NIce vid dude! BUT 2 suggestions: 1. The pause button (left button) is your PANIC BUTTON - if you think you're introuble, just push that so the drone will regain its auto level position 2. NEVER DO THE FLIPS if you did not adjust your Gains - DJI's default is very slow and for Normal or Sport mode purposes only. Practice on high altitude so you have plenty of time to recover or push the PANIC BUTTON - Anyways great vid and happy flying!
- first practice in simulator in ACRO mode! - then get really good at flying fast and moving around objects in sport mode, speed limited to about 65 km/h with some wind in the back but that's already fun flying low to the ground. - while practicing sport mode and simulator, press that pause button all the time so it becomes muscle memory. This pause button if you get that in muscle memory will save you hunders of dollars of repair costs. Unlike a normal quad, you break this thing, it's over. Only DJI can repair it. - if you fly simulator then you will quickly realize how important the camera angle is. If you want to fly forward the quad has to pitch down, but now you are looking at the ground. So to fly forward while still having the horizon in the middle you need to pitch the camera up. - So extremely important that the camera angle of the avata has some UP ANGLE before you go in to manual. Otherwise while flying forward you are also flying down. In sport mode this is totally different. In sport mode you fly with 20 or 25 DOWN angle. So if you are use to 20 to 25% down angle and then switch to manual YOU ARE GOING TO CRASH. Unless you got that pause button in muscle memory. - When you are ready to switch to manual you keep the BANK LIMITED ENABLED IN THE BEGINNING. YOUR FIRST JOB IN MANUAL IS TROTTLE MANAGEMENT. - Finally when you have some time in simulator, when pressing that pauze button comes automatically, when you have flown in manual with correct up angle and banks limits on. Then is the time to take the bank limits off. Come on guys, do it the right way. Safe you money and time not being able to fly.
@@JJDrones Ofcourse man, everybody learns the way they learn. I posted this for people watching your video. Not everybody can afford to risk crashing something so expensive so many times in a row.
Seasoned FPV pilot here! I couldn’t agree more with your comment. CAMERA ANGLE IS EVERYTHING. Down angle in any quad is asking for disaster. SIM practice is a MUST. I have near 200 hrs in sims and about 100 in flights. Luckily we have access to such tools which we didn’t have in 2014. Keep practicing and don’t give up! FPV is great!
Oh and for real dude just hit the “DJI oh shit pause button” once I got the avata 2 after years of cinematic drones my respect for REAL fpv drone pilots is next level considering the talent those guys have.
Glad I watched, I'm in the same boat, new to FPV, and very tempted to get out and try. I've put a little time in the simulator, but not nearly enough. I know I'm going to crash, just gotta make sure I do it in a grassy area!
I'm extremely glad you watched because you're the type of person I'm trying to reach. Just go out there, use your drone the way that you want, and have fun! It helps to have DJI Care/Refresh in your back pocket, but as long as you aren't crashing into boulders you should be fine. Props are a different story, however, so make sure you have plenty lol
You are braver than I. I plan on flying a couple of batteries in Normal mode to get used to the throttle control being not sprung. Then I would go and try manual mode but with the angle limit switch on so that I could get a little used to manual mode without doing flips. Lastly (after gaining some confidence) I would turn off the angle limit and to go full aero mode. But you seem to be braving it out very well.
I figure if I'm going to do it, it'll be all in or just not do it. I'm glad I did because I'm getting much better the more I try. I appreciate you watching my friend
Understand that the throttle will function completely different from normal to manual regardless of the stick being sprung. If you drop the unsprung stick in normal mode it will just descend like a Mini/mavic. In manual mode the left stick is literally a gas pedal. It will fall from the sky if you put the stick down in manual
@brandon9689 I do understand what you're saying and I know that's the case. I do have a little bit of knowledge going into this, it's just my first time pulling the trigger and actually doing it, but I thank you for the comment and for watching!
I remember my first time trying Manuel, or acro,as the fpv community would call it, my experience was that it was very disorienting. But after a while it came to me, I’m still not great at it, but I can do alright.
I have been continuing to fly in manual mode and it's been an amazing adventure. Like you I'm not "good" at it, but I'm no longer crashing! Have a video coming on my progress that is really short, around 6 minutes probably on Friday.
I really like these videos where people think they can just put the drone in manual mode and fly it this is a perfect example of what happens, take the time to fly in a simulator before attempting to fly manual before you are qualified you will crash every time!
nice demonstration on why you must first learn with the simulator and with smaller drones and in areas without flying over people or busy roads. Be careful that if by mistake the drone ends up on the glass of the moving car on the road you can scare the driver of the car and cause a serious road accident due to your crazy fun.

Try to gain some altitude first so you can figure it out. As well you can press the pause button to freeze it. But give it some altitude so you have reaction time. Everything is quick very quick.
It is especially important not to unlock the altitude limit mode at the beginning to prevent the drone from turning on itself right left and front to back. But I admit I had a good laugh 😂😂😂😂
I'm just waiting for my controller 3 to arrive then I'll be doing my first time fpv flight, I have been using fpv freerider on my android tablet with a xbox controller for about 30 mins a day since avata 2 got realised, hopefully I don't crash the thing 😂 I feel pretty confident after all the hours I've put in.

Great video demonstrating real-life experience! I wouldn't be brave enough to try it in manual mode. Maybe in the future, but I tried it in a simulator and it just didn't click with me, even after a few hours.
If you truly want to do it, you just have to go out and try. Whether you fail or succeed it's going to be ok as long as you're having fun! Plus DJI Care refresh in your back pocket lol. Thank you so much for watching!
It took me more than a couple of hours in the sim before it started making sense, too. I've flown 3D helicopters in the equivalent of "full acro" mode and those are pretty challenging, but the inputs are very different in places, so I think I was fighting some of that muscle memory when trying full acro in a quad in the sim. The thing that finally made it click was when I realized that both sticks to the left or right together is what make it do a flat yaw. Once I realized that, it was just a matter of experimenting with different amounts of roll to do different degrees of turning. Give it a few more hours in the sim - it will click eventually and when it does, it's tons of fun. I'm sure it will be fun when I'm finally brave enough to try on the Avata 2. I'm ready - I'd just like to get to a more open area for the first few flights.
I definitely agree with you on the muscle memory thing, you really have to fight that after only flying camera drones, and I'm not perfect but I'm getting better. Thank you so much for watching
Great video sir. I have a question. When you are in manual mode, your throttle is not in the center, and you switch to normal mode, will the drone decend because the left stick is downward off center point?
That's a great question, and when I switch from manual to normal mode I use the pause button first, I'm sure you don't have to, but it's the way I do it. So it will freeze the drone in the air. After you unlock it then with the stick in the down position, yes it will just descend. But you can position the stick to the center so it functions as it typically does in normal mode. Thanks for the question!
Is the avata 2 just as good if you use the other remote and 8 crashes I'd probs do more to be honest but ill get 1 im only used to a tello currently lol
I would say it's just as good with the motion controller it's just different. I've become addicted to flying in acro now and I'm getting better with each flight. I honestly believe that everyone should at least try because it's an entirely different flying experience!

I have to figure that one out but even Dustin Dunnill wasn't aware of it I think because he got a third party locater so I'll check that out, thanks!
Try to gain some altitude first so you can figure it out. As well you can press the pause button to freeze it. But give it some altitude so you have reaction time. Everything is quick very quick.
Thank you very much, I appreciate the advice!
It is especially important not to unlock the altitude limit mode at the beginning to prevent the drone from turning on itself right left and front to back. But I admit I had a good laugh 😂😂😂😂
Then you got the intent of the video and I'm glad you enjoyed it
I'm just waiting for my controller 3 to arrive then I'll be doing my first time fpv flight, I have been using fpv freerider on my android tablet with a xbox controller for about 30 mins a day since avata 2 got realised, hopefully I don't crash the thing 😂 I feel pretty confident after all the hours I've put in.
Awesome my friend, I'm sure all that time will have been well worth it, and I know you're going to love it!
just tried in my backyard, boy did that fail. Didnt adjust the screws on the remotes toggle. 3 houses down, 2 broken props but shes all there. Going to an air field next attempt. Still in shock haha
Lol well at least you tried and definitely adjust those sticks! Plus open fields highly recommended lol
you have a short cut key on button C1 for tuttle double click
I appreciate this one, I will definitely remember it! Thank you!
@@JJDrones I think you have to set it in controle menue
@did3d523 thank you I'll look
hello sir , i have been flying drones over 10 years and have never tried full manual . this is how i envision myself . i hate to crash and break stuff . on the fence if i should buy the remote 3 and try manual . i do have the fpv drone to so i can go 60mph with that one in sport mode . they should have done something similar with this drone . probably as simple as a software change . thanks for the real life first manual flight . oh by the way are you pinching? i am a thumb `er .
Thank you so much for watching and I appreciate your feedback. I have tried thumbing and it doesn't work for me, so I am a full pincher. Hope you try full manual some time!
@@JJDrones thiking about it .but def not a pincher here so that may makes things even harder . but been flying drones over 10 years in assisted modes . i subbed your channel
@fnkycoldmedina thank you my friend
Wow!
😂😂😂
You really should have put a SWIFT sticker on your drone before trying to fly it manually.
Believe it or not I still crash less than Swift lol
dang, man you actually figured it out!!! mostly, eh? lol Your reaction to crash #8 was hilarious... "Dog on it"... hahaha
Yeah kind of lol, but I'm happy I took the leap and gave it a shot. I'm actually getting better ever time I fly it! Thank you brother!
@@JJDronesall I can say is I know it takes practice but it seems like you picked it up pretty quick. You may be a natural, eh? And don’t listen to these nay sayers on here. You were 100% safe in your flying location. I watched your live from yesterday and you guys cracked me up.
@WeretheRoberts thank you my friend and we'll have to have you two on the live stream as a guest at some point. But just know that my evil Chinese overlords will be watching every move you make until then *insert evil laugh*
@@JJDroneshahahaha. Good luck getting Kristi to agree to that. Lol
@WeretheRoberts lol I'm not a miracle workers
Watch Exavier about flying this drone in manual mode if you are not going to practice in a simulator. Excellent plan he has. God bless and good luck.
I did watch his video, and I definitely understand his reasoning, and I appreciate the advice!
Lol great video man.
Thank you very much AJ!
@@JJDrones thanks!
@@speeddemon467Thanks for the helpful reply, I really appreciate it! Of course, I'll give it as many tries as needed. It's a challenge!
Flip it to normal if your falling it literally corrects it self
Great video sir. I have a question. When you are in manual mode, your throttle is not in the center, and you switch to normal mode, will the drone decend because the left stick is downward off center point?
That's a great question, and when I switch from manual to normal mode I use the pause button first, I'm sure you don't have to, but it's the way I do it. So it will freeze the drone in the air. After you unlock it then with the stick in the down position, yes it will just descend. But you can position the stick to the center so it functions as it typically does in normal mode. Thanks for the question!
@@JJDrones in normal mode, you have to center yourselves the throttle, so it never stays at the alt because you are never exactly at the center !
@SteveSandbox thank you very much for the tip my friend!
No, drone will hovering until you toch the stick
amazing video
Thank you so much my friend!
I honestly believe that everyone should at least try because it's an entirely different flying experience!
liked this video because you did the FLIP!! much respect!!! you got some Cojones on you!! lmao my first time went the same way too.
Lol thank you so much. It's fun to really push yourself outside of your comfort zone and this day was no exception. I appreciate you watching!

Thank you very much I appreciate the support!
There is a better way you can use liftoff simulator, it works with dji controller. Actually a 30 hour practice will save your drone 😄😇😇
I appreciate you watching and I'll check it out
@@JJDrones you’re welcome. I’m also practicing at the moment. Quite hard to grasp manual mode for me, still can not keep my altitude low and make turns easily in the simulation. I’m at 6-7 hours now I guess. Long way to go 🤞🤞 but it’s gonna be fun. 🏄♂️🏄♂️😇
Did the second drop occur in normal mode?
No it was in manual mode
J'adore ❤❤❤😂😂😂
Did you practice ACRO in a sim before trying this?
A little bit but not as much as everyone says I should. But I like to do things the hard way
Please for the love of God practice on a simulator first, I cannot stand watching you destroy money like that. People like me save a year to get something like that and it will be another 4 months of saving before I can get another one to watch. You just smash it into the ground is horrible. Please keep practicing and enjoy your new toy. I can't wait to get mine!
Thanks for watching! I do things my way, wrong or not, but in the end I'm learning and having fun. In fact I feel after my last flight I'm gaining some confidence and getting better!
@@JJDrones good luck.Lol. I'll be here watching 👍🏽🥂
@silverfox74 very well said and I appreciate your comment. I was hoping someone would understand everything you just said 😂
@silverfox74 thank you for the advice, the kind words, and welcome to the channel! I truly appreciate your support!
Drones are a waste of money and time .. fritter your money away on something else..donate it to the Palestinian orphans your government helped to create.God bless America.
This is all pilot error, you need to do simulator for several hours before you try manual, I can’t believe it still flies after this, 😂
D more get baking soda and ca glue
My wife in the next room working on her art started laughing at your comments. You took off the safety feature that stops it from flipping and flying out of range. I guess you do not need the training the wheels.
I try to explore new things and this was new for me. It's been a lot of fun learning, thank you for the comment and tell your wife I thank her for laughing.
Bro. You know that there is a pause button on the remote you don’t need to crash the drone not even once you need to research before you try anything 😂😂😂 baby boomers are dangerously scary
9:50 this was so random...
The entire video was lol
Ok so manual mode is rarely ever used for line of site. Must use goggles. You need a sim
Thank you Steve, I did figure that out in the first 5 minutes of the video 😂. Thanks for watching though!
@@JJDrones lol..... I remember when I first attempted acro for the first time. In comparison you looked like a pro! I admire your attitude of not giving up. That's the way you gotta be and u will be flying acro in no time. As they say in the community "if your not crashing, then your not flying" Peace brother.
@steve16171617 peace bro, you know the second time I flew I only crashed twice and the third I was quick on the pause button so I didn't crash at all, but only needed it a couple of times. I plan on doing a short video of my progress soon, but I'm learning to love acro! I can definitely say that I'm going to keep trying until I get it!
@@JJDrones and the reward will be great when you experience the magic of being FPV free flight like a hawk in the sky diving with pin point accuracy! 👍👍
I put like because appreciate your work to do and upload video, but man, u did so many mistakes :) the first one - download simulator and learn how to fly manual fpv in there before crushing your expensive equipment so many times. Learn that u have a pause button u can press any time when u about to crush and your avata2 will magically hover with no crush!
A great video on what NOT to do.
I have a Live Stream every Sunday at 7 PM Central time, and one of the tag lines is Welcome to the Train Wreck. I even sell Shirts, you can check it out! I do things the way I do them, and sometimes they work, other times they don't. In the end it's all about the learning process and having fun, right? Thank you so much for watching!
Look like you don’t know what are you doing? I prefer you start with a normal mode then you try the manual mode . because manual mode doesn’t have GPS lock on position , you will crash a drone or lost your drone that caused your money .
Thank you for the advice but I'm learning more with each flight
Try not to learn like that you will cost money crashing that drone because it’s very repairable right now and no accessory part to purchase right now . try to do normal and sport mode catching cinematic footage enjoy your flight before you abuse your drone on manual mode . Remember that is not a $70 drone that is $700 drone.🤔 have fun flying 👍👌🥃🥃
@badboytommy187 thanks for the advice but I think I'm doing ok
here i am wanting this thing pretty badly. and here you are destroying the thing i love but dont got money for it lol.
I also know way more about the product than you, even i dont have it, and you do.
Thanks very much for watching
@@JJDrones Thx for making though !
Na yea just send it 😂
why start to learn like that , not the best way to show people how to start fpv with an avata .
Because it's how I learn. May not be for everyone and I get that, but it's how I got out of my fears and just did it
dude wtf just play some fpv simualtion games before this !!!
😂😂😂 thanks for watching!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
It’s like he’s trying to look like a fool. I’m not an internet hater but dear lord this is cringe. Dude…. just go practice online THEN fly. He has to be either slow or trolling people trying to destroy a brand new Avata like that. I mean if you have f-u money I get it but still….as our pathetic president would say “CMON man”
😂😂😂
you dont know fly in manual learn on simulator before try ... if you have not fly in manual NEVER TRY it with reel drone use simulator, anyway congratulation for your courrage on unconscience lol
Thanks for the tips, but we all learn in different ways, and I was confident in the Avata 2 that it could handle crashing in some grass lol
@@JJDrones you are lucky as far, avata is not good device to learn , use a cheap drone 90$ more easy to fix, . simulator is limited not realy like reel one
@@did3d523 I'm doing ok my friend, but thank you
These are the kind of people who caused drone rules to be more strict. DJI should remotely disable his drone. Someone reported this idiot.
