Today I have edited a funny moments montage of my crusader kings 2 holy fury game in which I created a character who simply could not be defeated. Some would say it is a major game-breaking exploit.
The video is rather similar to the incredible 100 strat man in that we effectively are observing a ck2 germanic character go on a rampage of mass sacrifices to Odin for more favor on duels.

20:20 It's actual historical fact - Bizantine emperors had the Varangian unit as bodyguards. Also - same for the route through Russia - it was a very important trade route "From Varangians to Greeks". So Swedish Norse travelling to Byzantine Empire in that times was nothing extraordinary.

Spiffing, the Byzantines had the Varangian Guard, an Elite Unit of Germanic/Norse as the Bodyguard of their Leader, that guy was doing his Job and you battlefield sacrifized him :P

As a Dane I can confirm it is hard to get reception when my country only exists in fantasy, it is working though.
I once had a crazy op character like this. Got tired of playing him and sent him and 3000 men on a suicide raid against spain. He won a battle against 12000 Spanish troops. Moved on walked to carthage raiding every province on the way. Basically he was fine until he managed to walk around the whole of Europe and died in Paris after raiding every coastal province from carthage to Istanbul and then to Rome. I was very impressed by him.

He was referring to the fact that you can now have basically limitless manpower since renown in those orders are pretty easy to get, even for normal characters.
btw that "all the way through Russia" path was a legitimate route at the time, called "From Varyags (Vikings) to Greeks", you can probably guess why.
Except it wasn't through Russia... not in a modern sense at least. You're mistaking it with Volga route which was it's competitor.

@@thespiffingbrit I always found this game to be too "hardcore" to ever invest in playing. You brought back some desire to play it again, although I am wondering how you modified the stats.
You need to replicate this in CK3, but it'll be the 10,000 point man ;) some of the traits are the same, but many of these have been split up into multiple traits, and then we have the personality traits on top which CK2 doesn't have.
While Indomitable means that your character won't suffer LETHAL injuries in battle, they could very well suffer CRIPPLING injuries. I lost a leg once.
Is that a trait you can get?

20:20 honestly a lot of Vikings were fighting for the Byzantine Empire, including Harald Sigurdsson (aka Harald Hardrada) spent a few year in the Byzantine Vanguard, many more also were employed by other nations.

I want to understand this game, but every time I play and start massing a large empire, eventually I die and the kingdom splits ... how do I prevent that!!???
Well your second scenario about not declaring an empire may have been what did it to me in my last game. I was playing as Castille (sp?) in the Iberian peninsula and conquered the whole peninsula before I died. I'm pretty sure I gave the titles to my children, but then again I may have also given some others ... It has been a while since I played that game.

Vikings actually did try to raid Constantinople multiple times. If they win I mean they get Constantinople if they lose they just got a better trade deal so they would leave.
Byzantine emperor also used Vikings as shock troops in a personal guard but ig by that time they where more Kevin Rus than anything

Hey Spiffing, I was wondering if you would consider playing the Throne-breaker: Witcher Tales game that came out. It is a mix between a card game, RPG, slight free roam over the areas and a roguelike game, meaning every choice you make will count, although you can replay battles and such, you will only get one shot at important decision like what to do with deserters or when faced with certain circumstances. Either way, have a great day.

I was hoping for a video showing up some crazy event chains and exploits to get immortality and then infinite stat increased. I was disappointed.
(And note you can actually get 150+ personal combat legitimately just by stacking bloodlines, joining a warrior lodge and being a martial character.)
You should play Tengri Step Nomad if you really want to get kills. Even more op.

A minor note, if a bit late: The blot will only sacrifice adults(16+) and I believe can sacrifice up to 4 each round, so pays to stock up :P
