Fun Fact: When Spiff says he’s “exploiting a game into Oblivion,” what he means is not a figure of speech but rather a state in which the game’s exploits have made it functionally indistinguishable from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
Strategy games like this are far from the first kind of game to do this. Fighting game bosses that read your inputs and do behaviors irreplicable by humans and don’t take normal damage come to mind
ie 80 % of games do this xD strategies? often let the ai genereate resources out of thin air. fps? enemy shooting through foliage with headshot accuracy - and so on. very hard difficulties, more often than not, base itself on cheating through game rules and common sense to pose a challenge to a player.
Rain of frogs is actually a hugely useful spell once you get its power up. You just summon it on their backline and they spend the entire fight with frogs not shooting your units.
Potent Summon Bloodsucker is also huge. They spread out over a huge swath of the battlefield and harass the enemy units. One of the few ways to deal with troublesome units like Horros

Hello friends! I have been playing this game since before release and since I am a huge HOMM 3 fan I find it amazing. It's a fresh new take on the genre by people that know it well. Here are a couple of tips to win consistently on Impossible+ on most factions and heroes: -Spend the first few days massing up troops and building essential buildings - depending on the faction and build order (its random for each game) and ofcourse your hero's abilities. DO NOT pick a fight until round 3-4 or even 5 unless you feel extremely confident you will only suffer minor losses. You may want to get to tier 3 units or an upgraded tier 1 or 2, or build a mage's guild. Also, a first week build shoud definately be the Infirmary. Maybe before the first battle if you find it too hard. -Plan your battles with great care. First week battles are limited and there is always a very strict order you can follow. There will be 2 easy battles for the wood and ore mines, another for the Pillar (for the secret treasure, which you should hire a second hero to find and transfer to your main most of the time) and maybe a random creep guarding a small treasure. You Dont Have To Fight Every Day. Take on ONLY fights you can win decisively. -In battle you should always have an advantage. Stronger units, a good hero ability, a good spell. See what works for you. If you have none of these things, wait for better units but be warned that this sets you back against the AI. Unless you have a plan to capitalise and catch up it will not work to wait too long, although patience i and defence is key for many situations in this game. -During the first few turns where you are not fighting, use the time to explore and try to find XP chests with your hero. Prioritize skills that give you a combat advantage or free troops. Good examples include Mastery, Legion, Mercurial (its busted always take a beginner), Elementalism, Offence, Bloodlust ect. Learn which skills are good and focus on them with a side of support skills. Restart game if you suffer massive losses first week or just save scum. In general, try Might heroes first ( the top 3 ones on every faction). Magic is weaker/more complex/worse scaling. -Needless to say, learn the different abilities of the various units and the hero skills. This will take time but Its a fun game, enjoy playing it. Start on lower dificulties and work your way up. -By the second week aim to get your economy going. Upgrade your econ buildings, build an army to take on some more difficult battles (like mines) and towards the end tier 4-5 units if u can affort. -Again, if you find yourself losing battles, your build is not strong enough. This is a game where one lost battle means the game most of the time. Restart and try a different build until you find something that works for you. -An early capture of an enemy faction is a great advantage. If you feel strong enough to take them, go for it. Anyway, experiment and dont be afraid to restart if things go south. If you think of a build work on it until it just works. I may update this if it gets upvotes. Cheers.

From what ive heard and experienced, people issue isn't necessarily that the game is too hard but that the ai is very unforgiving and prone to rushing your base with huge armies early on, even in the easiest modes. Once you get past that point, game kind of a joke honestly.
True, in my experience you either absolutely obliterate the enemies midgame or get rolled early on completely. Which is a shame really, because I enjoy playing the game, not 30-40 minutes of loading screens and skippable fights, once you've crossed a certain line.
@@poilboiler I have to give Hero's Hour credit for one thing, it artificially bumped the difficulty up to the point where 1 fight might not instantly win you the game. The infirmary, reinforcements, army deployment limit, and almost complete lack of control in battle make it to where there might be 2-4 important battles in a war rather than just 1.
But that is exactly what the difficulty of a strategy game is, defeating the AI when single player, defeating other players on multiplayer, what kind difficulty were you expecting from such a kind of game? I just dont get your point of "the game inst necessarily too hard", you cant have dark souls or devil may cry type of difficulty on a strategy game.
I swear every time I ever seen you Play games with like this style. You always go beyond the understanding of this game, and you become an understanding God where everyone in the game will never stop you becoming what you are.
Hehe, yeah, as soon as I saw that there was a faction with a Tea House and Tea Knights I knew it wouldn't be long before Spiff dropped a video focused on Pillar :)
I can very easily imagine this was made by a long time Heroes of Might and Magic fan that was, shall we say, disappointed at what Ubisoft did to the series. There are just too many similarities to think there's no inspiration there.
They outright say it's heavily inspired by the old series because no one was making games like the old series any more, but with their own twist. I personally dislike the whole realtime battle aspect, but all the power to them anyways!
Sir Brit, I just came across a fun exploit for Crusader Kings 2. If you launch a save as Byzantine without Conclave dlc then relaunch with it it will change their succession to Gavelkind and allow you to change it. My family is still ruling 100+ years in LOL
Id love to see a graph of when in the video the viewers like it, similar to the analytics for when people watch. I imagine there would be a spike at the beginning, one at the end, a spike at the spot you ask for likes, and then smaller spikes at funny moments
Its honestly interesting how these strategy games seem to get easier, if the difficulty is turned way up. Like the Total War Warhammer 3 videos as an example, i think most of them were turned up to max difficulty in one way or other, and they just seemed easier.
Make sure that when you use this exploit you save before if you keep your armies to single entities... sometimes while duplicating if you're going fast, you can actually delete the units entirely. They won't show up to be deployed but it will show that they're still in the army. Also with the Decay faction's Malediction, Devour, and the Dark Ritual abilties... you can create an endless stream of dark horrors that are very very top tier busted.
so glad you made another video on this game! the last video made me go buy the game and people are right it is tough. took me a few matches but now im smashing the AI on easy mode! another exploit ive found is the body guard skill rank 5 is completely OP especially if you can buff those units.
wait a tick, "sat back, relaxed and a nice warm cup of tea....." I think this is the first video I've not heard "a nice warm cup of YORKSHIRE tea".....
Thanks Spiffing Brit is the best. He helps me avoid games with stupid balances. So for every game he manage to break, he helps to deduct the game from my wishlist and avoid spending on a poor exploitable game design.
I've been looking forward to when the next video came out because this is since my shipment arrived the first time I'm sat back, relaxed and have a warm cup for Yorkshire Gold tea.

The fact that I beat my first game of heros hour in hardcore+ in the biggest map legitly with pyre is insane Early game I literally just hug my castle to defend and get resources from mines, pyre gets a lot of troops every battle for literally no cost to aid in offense and defense. The ai beat each other and I slowly saved up on resources. The pyre has a major spell that can spawn a real army of troops every 7 days, basically it is a suicide squad except it isn't weak at all, and u can use this with every hero. Soon enough, I have one hero that constantly changes unit into higher tier for free and has a lot of useful skill, his army is so strong that my other hero can literally not own an army and win any battle just using bodyguards and pyre portal because bodyguards scale with the difference to ur strongest army......
Best thing about the infernal gate is that it will save your ass in ANY battle. Entering a dragon cave, the gate's there. Enemy attacking an unguarded town, the gate's there. Attacking an enemy city with a caravan with one single lousy soldier? The gate's there! The Pyrespawn giving you a bunch of free gold after every battle is just gravy on top.

Mercurials are insanely good. Bodyguards too once you get it to the highest level (very easy with the upgraded tavern. Mercurials really are the way to go in this game
I love that you give Hero’s Hour so much hype! It’s such a good game and it deserves it. And hopefully this duplication exploit gets fixed faster than Necromancy got nerfed after your first video 😬
Okay I’m curious if anyone else appreciates him mentioning to like the video because I watch youtube on the same level as television so I kind of forget 90% of the time. so I actually appreciate him doing that
Ah, Spiff makes me proud to be British, and I end up falling into my accent everytime I watch one of these videos. Simply the English pride is too strong!
"Luckily, by mixing the Immortali-Tea, which we have access to, that grants the first 500 power units immortality, it turns out when you duplicate those units, those units stay." I see what you did there.
Well that's one scary way to win, but also thanks spiff, the new years livestream questions I asked have now properly taken seed, and will soon bloom into either some Yorkshire tea worthy leaves or wither away love the vids
Its a game I would never have found. I would never have played. I dont understand but! Great fun to watch. I'm hoping for some more 'mainstream' madness. Big big games bent over and spanked until the developers weep.
When somebody tells an exploiters like Spiff, or us his loyal disciples, we don't feel discouraged. We take it as a challenge. And we are yet to fail in overcoming it.
16:40 "...the end of the Green Empire and the rise of the Tea boys..." had me rollin' holding my stomach and trying to survive the laugh-onslaught. Idk how that phrase ticked me so much but thanks for the laughs, my dear dear person.
One thing about the difficulty, for us plebs, is it very much depends on what map you you pick, my first few games were much easier on the huge maps or with a gray town between the enemy and I
Honestly (since the tea house's ability was mentioned), I had a joke that goes like: "What does the queen drinks? Immortali-tea", but as soon as I wanted to comment that joke at september when I firstly saw this video the queen have passed away, making any immortal jokes obsolete. Anyway, that's a good video
the idea of a game that will always exploit & cheat harder than you is pretty scary. for spiff itss just a causal wednesday of tea sipping with an extreme battle of wits
Yall need to give Peglin a go once it is released. I mean a pegged like shooter with powerups, the "ability" to save-scum, and a whole lot of synergies to experiment with. Sure it may not get a very long series but definitely a handful of episodes of "perfectly balanced" gaming can be achieved with it.
Here’s an interesting thought- what if there’s a game that really DOES want you to exploit it? Like, imagine a game that seems too difficult but has EVERY exploit spiff ever showed us. One where the exploits are never patched out, because the game dev legitimately wants you to use them. Random thought, I know, but wouldn’t that be interesting?
They would definitely need to tutorialize at least one of the exploits and straight up go "this is an exploit, you'll need to figure all these out to beat the game".
So, Magic: The Gathering then. There's a meta game associated with M:TG, where people try to figure out how much non-infinite damage you can deal on turn one - that is, the deck has a fixed but large turn one damage potential that is not dependant on player choice. *Graham's Number* has long since been exceeded.
What people miss is Bodyguards. After the upgraded tavern (statue of champions?) Every hero your recruit gains extra levels of Bodyguards (even if they don't normally get it) which gives you HALF the difference between that heroes army and their strongest army, capped at 200 power per level. For free. That's how they get "free" units. You can too.
I'd enjoy seeing you exploit an old favorite game of mine called impossible creatures, the concept is pretty interesting and I think it'd be enjoyable!
Gotta admit, whenever I see someone figure out how to exploit a game, I have an equal mix of judgement and admiration. But, this fellow carries himself with grace, and doesn’t try to mask his exploitation skills as “I’m just a genius”, but actually breaks down each step with clarity. I like it, and appreciate it, and I have a lot of respect for it. :>
Hey hold on a minute, I'm getting Deja Vu...isn't this that game that Spiff did where "Necromancy is Overpowered?" for Hero's Hour? Or am I thinking of a different game that looks almost exactly like that one? lol. I'm also being serious lol. But god...Spiff, seriously never change man, every single one of your videos always have me laughing. Your comments within the video are the best lol. And well I don't drink that much, but Yorkshire Tea also sounded good. :P
"We have to fight otherwise we're never gonna survive" ~ Spiff If that quote was in any other context it'd make sense, but since it's in the context of a literally impossible scenario aside from the exploits he's using it does not
personally my favorite blend of tea is my "Special Blend". tastes absolutely delicious, and goes great with the screams of the coffee loving peasants in the torture dungeon downstairs.
Luckily they already patched out the people cloning, so we can't duplicate your people duplication. Edit: The murcurial unit is absolutely busted. Ood, the unaligned hero centered around them I do think is the strongest hero in the game by a long shot.

Kind of my experience with Tide on H+. Survive early game = win.
Isn't that just what the Heroes of Might and Magic 5 AI did? Either you beat the first rush and won or you didn't and lost. Booooring.
Spiff isn't limited by difficulty, only by how much tea he has left.
He has found a way to duplicate tea, though, so I don't think he'll ever run out.
Has to be true
@@COArSe_D1RTxxx I have to know this exploit. Might be to powerful for the normal mortals but I have to know
I like when he says something and then right after says that it's not true, it's really funny and doesn't get repetitive what so ever. Good video 👍
With tea knights becoming immortal with the help of a tea house I feel like this game was made to lure spiff into playing it 😂
Hehe, yeah, as soon as I saw that there was a faction with a Tea House and Tea Knights I knew it wouldn't be long before Spiff dropped a video focused on Pillar :)
It's almost...TOO perfect. WAIT! it's a TRAP! Spiff! Get Out!!
"i am british, i am not a normal human being".
Wiser words have never been spoken
I can very easily imagine this was made by a long time Heroes of Might and Magic fan that was, shall we say, disappointed at what Ubisoft did to the series. There are just too many similarities to think there's no inspiration there.
They outright say it's heavily inspired by the old series because no one was making games like the old series any more, but with their own twist. I personally dislike the whole realtime battle aspect, but all the power to them anyways!
Homam 3 crazy
@@KainYusanagi Can't wait for Songs of Conquest to come out. It's what all HoMM fans are waiting for.
It follows the formula even down to cheesing battles!
The analytics of the Funny. A truly worthy field of study.
Also with the Decay faction's Malediction, Devour, and the Dark Ritual abilties... you can create an endless stream of dark horrors that are very very top tier busted.
it does not work on 2.0.5 , can u tell me on what version i can use this exploit
@@mahfoudnaripo1056 It's still working for me so I am not entirely sure if maybe you're not lining it up right or what exactly.

6:14 "Why fight your enemy when instead you can turn them into profit" That was literally the point of the British Empire
Tea existing in any game automatically guarantees Spiff’s victory. Nothing stops the power of the British empire when tea is involved

@@alloounou6900 the rebel colonists targeted the tea supplies first, which is clearly a war crime.
Exactly why you must target the tea supply first
so glad you made another video on this game! the last video made me go buy the game and people are right it is tough. took me a few matches but now im smashing the AI on easy mode!
another exploit ive found is the body guard skill rank 5 is completely OP especially if you can buff those units.
wait a tick, "sat back, relaxed and a nice warm cup of tea....." I think this is the first video I've not heard "a nice warm cup of YORKSHIRE tea".....
@Christopher Matteson ha, there's green tea!
“I’m British so I’m not at all a normal human being”. This phrase is a genius joke but unfortunately, it’s self deprecating in a way that even makes me feel embarrassed for him
"see's impossibly set game, designed to murder anything in existence with maximum level difficulty settings"
Spiff - 'sips yorkshire tea' ... challenge accepted
Game - 'nerivously sweating and waving white flag' ... okay you win
Devs - 'writing preemptive resignation letters'
"Why fight fight your enemy when you can instead turn them into profit" pretty much sums up the vast majority of British history i think lol.
The fact that I beat my first game of heros hour in hardcore+ in the biggest map legitly with pyre is insane
Early game I literally just hug my castle to defend and get resources from mines, pyre gets a lot of troops every battle for literally no cost to aid in offense and defense.
This game is what I wish Heroes of Might and Magic was when I was a kid.
"...not only the ai is going to be given so many crazy bonuses but also the starting monsters nearby to us have far more pops than they logically should"
me: hes going to do necromancy isnt he
After years of watching the two and comparing their content, when I heard Spiff say, "75 cups of yorkshire tea", it finally hit me who he reminds me of.
DF.
Spiff is the UK version of the US's DangerouslyFunny, its almost uncanny how similar their reporting, commentary, and speaking tempo are.
Mercurials are insanely good. Bodyguards too once you get it to the highest level (very easy with the upgraded tavern. Mercurials really are the way to go in this game
Mitosis had me in Bloody Tears™ when it actually started happening
I love that you give Hero’s Hour so much hype! It’s such a good game and it deserves it.
And hopefully this duplication exploit gets fixed faster than Necromancy got nerfed after your first video 😬
Okay I’m curious if anyone else appreciates him mentioning to like the video because I watch youtube on the same level as television so I kind of forget 90% of the time. so I actually appreciate him doing that
Game: Spiff Co, standard line, we outnumber him 3 to 1.
Spiff: Then it is an even fight.
Dude, you're editors cracked! Nice job dude.
Ah, Spiff makes me proud to be British, and I end up falling into my accent everytime I watch one of these videos. Simply the English pride is too strong!
Haha
I too am British. I agree with all of this
"Luckily, by mixing the Immortali-Tea, which we have access to, that grants the first 500 power units immortality, it turns out when you duplicate those units, those units stay."
I see what you did there.
Only Spiff has the power to get pandas to multiply
... now i wonder if any of them panda-breeding scientists have tried using Yorkshire Tea. ^^
Bears like honey. Honey goes in tea. Do I hafta draw you a picture?
(They have to show male pandas pictures.)
7:55 this is what peak british performance looks like! I love this guy
One thing about the difficulty, for us plebs, is it very much depends on what map you you pick, my first few games were much easier on the huge maps or with a gray town between the enemy and I
It also depends on how many enemys the more the easier it will be since they will fight against eachother, unlike some other strategie games
@@Mendoza-yi6qk
Something that enrages me is when every AI regardless of faction decides you and only you are deserving of slaughter
For extra immersion I like to boil a kettle in the background while watching any of the Spiffing Brit’s videos
Looking at my coffee that I'm drinking while watching Spiff re-create reality around him just with the power of tea....and i feel sadness 😔
as you should *glares at your coffee with an unsettling amount of disrespect*
So Skyrim, but it's actually a feature? That sounds like it would be difficult to hide the fact that it wants you to exploit it.
They would definitely need to tutorialize at least one of the exploits and straight up go "this is an exploit, you'll need to figure all these out to beat the game".
Goat Simulator?
Those wouldn't really be exploits then, they'd just be unexplained game mechanics.
Always love watching you break it. Even tho sometimes they do fix it...
Who would win in a fight:
Thousands of max difficulty AI
OR
A insane Yorkshire tea fueled British game breaker
What people miss is Bodyguards.
After the upgraded tavern (statue of champions?) Every hero your recruit gains extra levels of Bodyguards (even if they don't normally get it) which gives you HALF the difference between that heroes army and their strongest army, capped at 200 power per level. For free.
That's how they get "free" units. You can too.
The Video was essentially over after 5 minutes, but the other 24 minutes were also really fun to watch.
Thats kind of how the game goes in general.
I'd enjoy seeing you exploit an old favorite game of mine called impossible creatures, the concept is pretty interesting and I think it'd be enjoyable!
Oh my god, item dupers in strategy games is the most hilarious thing.
This man doesn’t need water, he just needs tea. Yorkshire tea.
Spiff: too difficult?
Spiff after drinking the GDP of a small country in tea: not difficult enough!
Spiff once again demonstrating his power over the mortals. Excellent😁
already patched, he wasnt running the newest version
I’m always concerned and excited when you make a video
You know something? I always have a religious experience watching Spiff. He always finds a Profit in a video. :D
AI 1: "This player is the Devil incarnate!"
AI 2: "No, worse... he's British, and powered by the might of Yorkshire Tea!"
thanks to "human duplication strategies" we now have an outstanding military
Hey hold on a minute, I'm getting Deja Vu...isn't this that game that Spiff did where "Necromancy is Overpowered?" for Hero's Hour? Or am I thinking of a different game that looks almost exactly like that one? lol. I'm also being serious lol. But god...Spiff, seriously never change man, every single one of your videos always have me laughing. Your comments within the video are the best lol. And well I don't drink that much, but Yorkshire Tea also sounded good. :P
So that's why i seemed to get more troops out of no where, never bothered to really think about it. That's an interesting exploit.
doesnt work on newest patch, which was released weeks ago "beta branch"

"Oh god it's a dupe exploit" 😂

personally my favorite blend of tea is my "Special Blend". tastes absolutely delicious, and goes great with the screams of the coffee loving peasants in the torture dungeon downstairs.
Luckily they already patched out the people cloning, so we can't duplicate your people duplication.
Edit: The murcurial unit is absolutely busted. Ood, the unaligned hero centered around them I do think is the strongest hero in the game by a long shot.
Note, they did *Not* patch the cloning as of me posting this message.
i dont think so, i just tried it and it worked fine for 1/2 speed land battles where im the attacker. boat battles and defensive battles dont work tho
