      I wouldn't say that the amount of time you game is the important factor but what kind of games you play. The LG has much better gaming features like VRR but also has MUCH lower input lag than the Sony which will greatly affect FPS, Racing, fighting, and any other type of game that greatly benefits from accurate timing. You can see that the LG, in every review, updates the picture before the Sony. Being a gamer, and having seen both TVs side by side, I can say that I would easily get the LG, and I am. The PQ on the Sony is slightly better but only noticeable when they are side by side. They are that close. Being that the picture quality is so close and the gaming features of the LG are just so much better, if you game AT ALL I'd recommend the LG.

    You can't go wrong with either. As of late Sep and early Oct 2021, both sets have come down in price and are comparable. 55" $1500, 65" $1800, and 77" $2800. The sweet spot in terms of price and performance seems to the the 65" as it is only $300 more. Going up to 77" involves a $1000 more.

    I'm very glad that you cover in your reviews one of the most elementary thing. Upscaling SD/HD content from cable box or antenna is what many of us are interested in, since that is still the way how most of the world primarily watch their tv's.

    • @tears2040
      @tears2040 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The reviewer covered this clearly , LG if you’re a gamer and the Sony if not.
      Cable tv is 720 resolution , very poor quality so don’t expect miracles with any TVs set....

      Either one of these TVs will be better than what you currently have

      @@tears2040 My cable company provides 1080i, and cable is 70 percent of my viewing. I am buying the 77 inch Sony A80J, and I am hoping the Sony's upscaling abilities will give me a decent picture so I can keep it. { UPDATE} I bought the 77" A80J and the picture Quality out of my 1080I Cable DVR is as good as a Blu-Ray Player, beautiful picture and no motion artifacts, even when watching sports. Sound is excellent also, no need for a soundbar. When viewing movies, I switch to my AV system.

      Update: The Sony A80J does an excellent job of upscaling, and viewing fast moving sports are judder free. But I did not like the way Sony's picture algorithm over brightens faces. But using the Custom mode setting turns off Sony's face recognition, and now watching TV shows or movies from my cable DVR box is almost 4K quality.

    I currently have a 46 inch XBR 4 from 2007. It is in a room with the windows all around. It has an extremely matte finish and thus very little reflection from the surrounding windows. The C1 was bought for my basement, mainly for gaming and man oh man it is amazing. GG am ok my performance is superb. I really love the new motion remote way better than the C9/CX remote and the pointer is way more refined and precise, it feels so much more accurate when pointing at to things on screen. Love the new native gaming settings and I love the fact that when I play games the C1 doesn't have the annoying flash when instant gaming response would come on like with the C9/CX. Speakers are great way better than my C9. So happy with my purchase, loved my C9, but I'm definitely happier with my new C1. Dolby Vision IQ is great to have too.

      Sony also added HGIG at around the same time from what I understand. LG's gaming lead has been whittled so much, and Sony's upscaling/processing advantage has made it a subjective/situational thing even fore pure gaming. Also the C1 is 50% more expensive in my market here in 2023, so my decision was pretty much made for me.

      Don’t ever compare TVs in a shop. Firstly, they are in ‘display mode’, which create unnatural looking pictures that are oversaturated and bright. Second, they are not calibrated. Out of the box one might be better than the other but both screens need to be calibrated in order to be compared.

    Finally waited your review. Family room watching daily TV sports f1 movies at night and no console connected. A80j. The reflection on the LG would drive me nuts. Seeing it blurred seems better to me. As it less of a spot on the screen but more blurred out. I tend to focus on such spot on the TV reflection. Also wondering if kodi runs on this set?

    2.1 ports can fill up fast as it becomes new standard. Game console, Apple TV and an audio device and you have used three. I’m personally not a fan of the smart tv options and prefer to hook up my own device. A80J is tempting but since I can’t buy a new set every couple of years LG may offer the most growth for future needs. The joys of great option! Nice job b!

      Hardly anything requires 2.1 bandwidth.. Neither Apple tv or Highend en Bluray players use it.. even Xbox Series X would look way better at 4k 60fps than with full 40Gb bandwidth due to the hardware limitations.
