    The motion on both Sony OLEDs is great, it doesn't surprise me... you?

    • @Watermoehlen
      @Watermoehlen 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I have the a90j, I do see some judder in the motion. I came from a plasma that was incredible on motion before it blew up on me so I’m fairly sensitive to poor panning motion but it’s certainly better than any LCD/Led tv. Either way, I’m in fricken love with the picture quality every time I turn this thing on

    • @ClassyTechCalibrations
      @ClassyTechCalibrations 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      The only time there is stuttering or motion issues is if cinemotion isn't on the correct setting for the content you're viewing. So anyone else complaining about the motion this year it's because there's two settings (three if you count "off") for the cinemotion now. It should be on high for 24p content and low for tv shows that are 30 or 60.
      Edit: not counting typical OLED panning stutters

    • @ClassyTechCalibrations
      @ClassyTechCalibrations 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dyeace yes, sorry I didn't specify that the panning OLED stutter will still be there. I was specifically talking about the constant frame skipping if cinemotion is not set correctly. I was streaming Smallville on Hulu and cinemotion was on high and just people moving around and talking you could see frame skips every few seconds. It turned out to be some issue with my Nvidia Shield needing a power reset because the TV kept resetting Cinemotion back to high every time I would change it until I unplugged the shield and restarted it again. Was really weird.

    Thank you for this comparison. I ended up purchasing the A80J 65” and this set is phenomenal. I am not made of money, so it was hard for me to justify the extra cost of the A90J when the performance is so similar. I am constantly blown away at how well this set does with broadcast media (sports especially). I did not expect it and I couldn’t be happier.

    It's the A80J for me! Another difference is fitting these on your current stand. For me, the 55" A90J simply won't fit on my stand because the feet are so wide. So there is an additional new stand cost I, and perhaps others, have to consider. Great video!

  • @tuomas9024

    I decided to go with 55" A90J instead of A80J since I saw it going on sale for 1600€ which is a steal in my opinion. The price difference was only 400€ which I think justifies the slight advantages of A90J over the A80J. Couldn't be happier with my purchase!

With all four OLED’s in house I think a full video comparing different sports (Basketball, Golf, Hockey, etc) would be a huge hit for your channel. Lots of sports fans struggle with choosing TVs.

      I feel the differences between the two OLED TV's is the A90J gives the viewer a little more detail and depth than A80J. However, the two TV's are so close that doesn't justify paying the extra $1200 for the A90J in the 65' size. I think the A80J in a 65' is a great OLED for movies in a dark room Home Theater environment.

  • @reviewforthetube6485
    @reviewforthetube6485 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I'll give you credit B, this is the best a80j vs a90j comparison on youtube imo. You know what I really love that you did and most people don't do, you just went all out in hdr. It actually shows off the extra color boost that Sony said the a84j has and a90j has a84j is for UK only and it's obviously when you use the extra settings. It def showed in hdr the extra saturation was there on the a90j. I wish more people would compare with the extra settings off and then with them on. This way people can see how each tv reacts differently to pretty much the same settings sometimes. even if so close without the settings activated sometimes when you do activate them the differences become bigger. My whole thing with the a90j is with the extra brightness you can put it in a darker mode and still get the extra boost on highlights due to the headroom. So imo the a90j when set dimmer still comes out ahead. I noticed that when using my a90j. You can do anything you want with it and get any image you want.

But if you play PS5 it doesn’t matter, as those features (e.g. VRR) are not enabled on the PS5 yet either. That being said, the picture quality, especially when it comes to details, of the Sonys is clearly superior. So if you’re solely out for graphical fidelity, the Sonys will do you good.

    Loving the A80J 77” over the C1 77”. Swapping for the better Sony TV and getting some cash back in the transaction was such a sweet deal. When the motion is set to 2 it’s buttery smooth without soap opera looks. On the C1 had motion issues in SDR, mainly in scenes focusing on actor in the front and panning background. I noticed this issue in HDR on the A80J but after getting the motion settings right, it was fixed. The LG had more adjustment options, however the Sony has some digital correction tools that allow for some amazing fine tuning. Also calibration is easier. LG C1 is a great TV but the A80J is definitely a step above.

      I bought the Sony A80J in the 65 inch for $1799, and picture quality on it is amazing on it. I thought about purchasing A90J , but I couldn't justify the price in paying an extra $1000 for HDR brightness. One thing about the Sony OLED's is they have great detail, and depth in the picture which great for movies. One question I had to ask myself before I bought A80J is what I gonna use for? And like to watch movies. The A80J is a great TV for movies. I very happy with my purchase.

Sadly the last of my two plasma's rang it's bell earlier this year. A 2004 Hitachi Ultravision directors series and a Samsung J9000. But the 77" A80J VS 83" A90J or another variant of an 85" size scale TV has been on the chopping block for a theater room we are outfitting. Plan is to NOT keep that space as a "theater" so it diminshed the TV choices we'd normally be seeking for a traditional "home theater". Sort of sad b/c this room has the full monty.... elevated seating, column lighting, floor lighting, ceiling trim lighting, and all the wiring and pre-builts you can shake a stick at. A legit true movie theater set up. But a home theater just doesn't make sense for our family right now or for the next couple of years. But Exactly as you said......I can get the 77" A80J and Two of the 55" A80J's to hang on both sides of a double sided fireplace in the basement for the same price as the 83" A90J. $4,500 more?.... just makes absolutely zero sense unless you Literally have nothing else to spend $4,500 on other than 6 inches and a couple of unimpressive bells and whistles. Decision made and order placed tonight as they've dropped the price on the A80J.

    I think people saying the two tvs are close in pq or can't tell a difference are seeing the tvs with some of the processing settings minimized or there is a panel issue.
    I've been to a couple Best Buys as this is such a big purchase. The first store there was little difference between the a80j 77 in and a90j 65. Then I went to a second store and the difference between the sets was night and day. Not just brightness, but contrast, color volume and dimensionality. I played every piece of content they had from games to older movies to new 4k hdr content and the difference was the same across the board. I had another person with me and they had the same reaction.
    I made the employee show me the settings as a thought something fishy was going on and both tvs had identical settings. I've also talked to people that have owned both and it's been the same response.
    Anyway if you're seeing both tvs looking similar check out more than one store
    and ask to see settings , it can't hurt before dropping thousands on a TV. Obviously we all have different priorities when purchasing a TV, but I can say without a doubt the difference in pq was enough to justify the price difference.

      Interesting insight. So what is your recommendation? The 65" A90J can be bought for $300 cheaper than the 77" A80J right now. I only sit about 9' from my TV, so what would you recommend?

    • @evaloutionofman
      @evaloutionofman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MrBen23 I very strongly believe the a90j is the better TV. It depends on how you use it though. If you're going for a reference type Oled picture the a80j is very close and the a90j isn't worth the premium. If you're ramping up reality creation , live color, contrast enhancer etc you'll really see why the a90j needs a heatsink. It takes on a 3d look no other TV can touch .

    • @evaloutionofman
      @evaloutionofman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You won't be disappointed with either. All the 2021 OLED TVs are massive improvements from anything available last year. I'll just say that I paid close to 4 grand for my a90j and I feel it was worth every penny.

    Hi Brandon.
    Thanks again for the time and effort in making another great informational video comparing these TV's. I do see the differences in pq of the 90j but the 80j hangs in there with it and is the next best thing. Yes, when you can buy two 77" 80j's for 1k less than the 83" 90j it's difficult from a monetary perspective to justify for the extra 6" in size and the slight pq difference. But, if money isn't an issue for you and want the best the 90j is the clear winner. Hopefully with time prices will come down for the 90j. Aren't we so fortunate to have this choice. Either way you can't lose!
    ..best..

    Many will jump as the 77” who sit too close and be disappointed. From 7 feet the 65 is massive. I exchanged the 65A90J for the A80J 65” and put $1,340 back in the bank. The A90J is for the rich or foolish. Even the Sony product representative told me that they do not go through an pick out special panels for the A90J. The 90J is the best but the 80J is the smartest buy and better than any LG of 2021.
    Master Series are not handpicked panels, stop listening to others who say this is true. The Sony rep told me If this was true, why were so many returned for issues? Good question

    Thoughts on A80J vs. A8H? Is this a big upgrade worth $400 (looking at 55" size) or should I grab the A8H for a bargain price? Interesting that you say the A80J is brighter than the A8H. RTINGS measured real scene peak brightness of both SDR and HDR actually higher on the A8H. In fact I was surprised to see on RTINGS that the categories for Movies, TV Shows, Sports, and HDR Movies the A8H was either even or BEAT the A80J. Maybe this is worth a video?
