      @@robertt9342 Pretty much. I've tried countless times to try and capture my a90j in what I consider a accurate version of what you see. It's not possible. The a90j absolutely smokes any other TV in person. I went intending to get the a80j, but seeing them next to each other, even with the price difference the choice was obvious. You can make an a90j look like an a80j, you can't do things the other way around.

    I initially bought the 65" A80J. Was a little hesitant due to the huge windows in my livingroom and kitchen area but that went away quickly after I saw the picture quality. I only traded it in for the A80J 77" version. I moved it from above my fireplace to a wall eye level. I also painted the wall black. Couldn't be happier with my purchase!

    While I’m not a gamer I had decided on the LG C1 because the price was $500 less than the Sony A80J. Had already scheduled a delivery date for the C1 and was excited about finally getting a OLED television. Well the very next morning Sony announced a $400 price drop on the A80J and since I’ve always been a Sony lover I didn’t wait to cancel the delivery of the C1 and order the A80J. Love Sony’s tech advantage with the processor and I feel the Sony has a better build quality and picture quality. So now I have to wait till the A80J can be ordered and delivered but I finally I will have what I want. Thanks for what you do with the revues. I had in 2019 the 55Q950R 8k 2019 I had plenty of panel dse problems, electronic problems and a resounding electrical noise at the back of the Tv! I have never seen so many problems in my life on a device, never... my uncle in France tested the 8k 2021 Q900na he had a light leak at the right corner of the assembly in fact you could see the backlight underneath, amazing! a product with 4900eur guaranteed 5 years it is just not possible, and for Samsung it's "what they do best" damn.. I think I'm dreaming ! I definitely abandon this brand, not reliable, they are not professionals no no... I only respect 3 brands Panasonic, Lg and Sony despite everything because by nostalgia I love it since childhood even if I am disappointed.

    While I do game on my TV, it's limited mainly to when a new PlayStation or Nintendo exclusive drops(I use my PC for Xbox titles). I'll binge that for a few days to a week, and then there'll be a long gap until the next game. In between that, I spend a LOT more time watching TV and movies on my current LG B7A. The C1 and G1's extra gaming features don't really interest me, and while I do have G-Sync Ultimate on my computer monitor, I can't say I've ever actually noticed when it's running(Which is probably the point.). Given all of that, I feel like the Sony A80J or A90J would be the better picks for me personally. And I love that you pointed out that the Sony's processing handles all that grain better because if there's one gripe that I have with 4K upscales especially, it's that the grain almost always makes the image look terrible to me. I'm no cinematic purist, I don't think grain makes a movie made in the 2000's on a digital camera feel authentic, and while I can understand older films having it, the point of 4K is to have the cleaner, crisper image, which I never get the impression of when grain is present.

    Hey B, I only recently found your channel and subscribed. You helped me to make the decision between the LG C1 and the A80J. I went with the Sony based on my lack of gaming but rather enjoying movies more. The LG is a great tv, and it was a tough choice, but one I’m definitely happy with! 👍
    I may look into a 48” C1 for my daughter. She games a bit more.

    Got and LOVE the A80J. I think processing is the main reason. Football is incredible and that is important to me. Processing in general is better than the LG TVs and worlds beyond the first TV I tried the U8G. I also seem to have won the panel lottery. My OLED is very bright without any crush or washed out pic at all. It is actually brighter in a bright room than my 4 year old Samsung LCD. HDR is amazing. Also, reason 1A I think is clarity. Reviewers rarely seem to mention this but the A80J is just "clearer". Even clearer than the C1 and QN90A when I watched them side by side. Also when comparing the A80J to the A8H it seems it is a very large generational improvement. Could not be happier.

    I went with a 65" G1 --for exactly the reasons you mention: The gaming performance is important to me and so is a flush wall mount aesthetic. I knew from a design standpoint that I would like the G1 better than the others and the price bump is mitigated by not having to buy a separate mount or sound bar (I can hold off a little since the onboard audio is adequate for now). Those features plus the gaming capabilities made it an easy decision!
    Howdy San Diego neighbor! :)

      @spingus7091 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rgvtyuiooyyhhsaluuhjjuyh563 the G1 was a better value for me. As I said in my post --The better gaming performance, no need to buy a separate mount, no need to buy speakers immediately and the better aesthetics with the flush wall mount all contributed to my decision.
      Further, I bought it on sale combined with a promotional 10% cash back through my credit card for Black Friday. This brought my price below the list price of the C1. Of course no one buys at list so the practical difference between the $1800 + mount cost price of the C1 and the $2280 price of the G1 is $480. If you're willing to pay $500 for a P25/Xbox ...or both....why would you not be willing to purchase the best possible TV to enjoy it with?
      I had the cash. I had it budgeted specifically for a TV. I got the one that best suited my wants.
      Now, if you personally do not have the money to spend, then no, you should get a less expensive model. But honestly, if you have $1800 to spend on a C1, but want the better G1 --just save up a little longer and get what you want. Of course, if you are stretching your budget and missing meals or rent, or racking up credit card debt just to get an OLED then there are bigger problems you should address.

      @@macmittens5475 your welcome. I can offer some more input... from a 65C8 and upgrading to the 77a80j I don’t like my Sony. I’ve had plenty of people tell me I’m crazy but my experiences are real. The Sony is clunky and buggy. It’s shut off all by itself 3 times in 4 weeks. The first 2 times it happened I write it off as I musta hit the button but when it shut off by itself he 3rd time I am 100% convinced it’s the tv flaking out. My USB ports in the Sony are also flaky, sometimes they work sometimes they don’t. The google tv is slow compared to my webos C8. Now lg has changed the webos so I can’t speak about the new one. Once and a while I’ll get a pop and/or crackle come out of the Sony. Could be earc?🤷🏻‍♂️ I never had that problem with my C8. And like I mentioned sometimes my movie audio just don’t work in the Sony. With that I’m watching torrent (free) movies on a plex. Sometimes it’s attributed to a bad download but not with Tenet, Spectre, ..... several more ... not all though. So could be somethin with the codec 🤷🏻‍♂️ with that said LG dropped the Dts codec as of the CX. And this is the only reason I went with the Sony. In my opinion I like the C8 picture better but that is subjective and a preference. The C8 is brighter and sharper. The Sony upscale better and has a bit more detail. The only way you’re know that it has more detail is by comparing the 2. With that I think a sharper picture is more relevant. Over all I’m disappointed with the Sony and LG lost a sale of 2 (me and dad) 77a80js because they dropped the Dts
      And my dad is having the same issues as me. We bought them same day. But my dad likes the Sony picture better. He hates that it’s much more complicated than his 65c9. He’s old tho 82.
      And one more thing. We both use our tv to watch movies. No gaming. And if I can’t download it I’m streaming Netflix, TH-cam, prime, plex
      One more thing 🥴 dad has my old denon x1500 5.2.2 and I’m at marantz 8013 7.2.4. Most of these earc issues happen during action LOUD scenes. So it’s not alllll the time. And I’ve tried changing cables, I tried watching from a flash drive, ..... Sony earc is bad.....
      Best advice I can give you. Buy from someone with a good return policy

The one thing I genuinely don't like about the Sony A80J is that unlike every OLED I've ever seen, the 55 and 65 inch variants have a semigloss finish on the screen which genuinely make the screen feel less sharp, at least to my eye. Outside of that, I've noticed the Sony's tend to have a better out of box picture, while the LG's tend to be better for gaming. The fact that my 2016 OLED with 4200+ hours of usage (mostly gaming, but plenty of movies and TV) remains competitive with my newer models proves just how good of an investment any OLED can be. Easily worth every penny on all of them.

    Great video comparison! Could you do the same kind of video comparing 8k tvs? I want to buy an 8k and on the fence. I'm very curious about how well 8k tvs compare on upscaling content. Interested in the Sony Z9J and the Samsung QN900A. If you had these maybe along with a Sony A90J to show native vs upscaled on these 8k would be fantastic! Thanks for the content!

    While you were comparing all four TVs before the model number even popped up on the screen, I choose the bottom left, as it had the best picture and the clarity that the other sets did not have! Even though being the cheaper model, the Sony A80 J sometimes look better overall than all of the TVs in comparison, including the Sony A90 J! The Sony A80J just look more detailed and realistic with 3-D imagery and depth , contrary to the brightness level of the Sony A90 J! Yes! Sony dropped the ball in making the Sony A90 J! Sometimes the colors just seem washed out, The clarity overall is suffering, and there is no 3-D imagery! Anyone with a decent eye can see that the bottom left Oled out of all the TVs has the better picture!

    Thanks for the great review! What sizes were included in the comparison and would the result hold across screen sizes? I'm curious if the semi-gloss screen on the A80J 55" and 65" would impact the ranking.

    I had and returned all in the same week the Sony A90J (bad motion) and the LG C1 (blacked out important settings when gaming) C1 was better but both had ABL kick in anytime I played a sports game. Screen got sooooo dark it was annoying. But if you play racing, adventure, or shooting games OLED is the BEST! But if you play sports games don’t bother wasting your money

Hoping Sony shows out in 2022 and get back 2 making motion look 🔥

    Hey B the installer I wanted to tell you put your sony a90j in full on hdmi video range instead of limited when using in game mode. You won't regret it if you like a richer game mode image. The image is richer lol its surprisingly good and you will be happy contrast is more intense also it seems this is more like what lg does. Colors are richer instead of limited do full 😀 it's shocking. Its gaming so there is no standard so imo it's fine to use it this way. This yet again proves why I love sony so much the versatility in image to get whatever you want or like lol. It does what lg does with its video signal where it has high or low on the older lg sets they automatically went to low. This is just like that but instead it's full and it allows it to be richer with more contrast. You can also use it with other external devices like your streaming devices lol. Also the only reason you had the input takingonger to the sony was you were using a receiver without that and directly plugging the ps5 in the sony and the lg are equal with signal. I have 5 other comparisons showing them being odentixal including one being kg his vdoeos were matched perfectly between the sony and lg tvs every scene cut scenes and start and finish to the game. But go into your settings go to video signal then change hdmi signal to full not limited and boom you now have more richness and contrast that easy. It's almost as if lg is doing that automatically from my testing against my c9. The c1 did something my c9 didn't it was like the balck was always in low which gives it that look. The c1 does it automatically. Also your ps5 isn't setup correctly for the sony tvs. You need to go into hdr settings on the ps5. Turn dtm off adjust put the 3rd adjustment down as far as it goes do the rest to match the sun they show. Then turn dtm back on and boom. Not as bright it will be richer and more correct as Vincent explained everyone is sitting there sony tvs up the wrong way through the ps5. So these false narratives get spread around ridiculously.

    Hey B I need to elt you know you are using ISF bright with sdr. ISF bright forces the c1 in the native color space meaning its getting wider color. While the sony is set to auto, for them to be similar you would at least need to put the a90j to dcip3 that way it's also getting wider color. It's literally the only reason why the color is that way. It's why the other modes you used to use didn't really have more color. Certain modes on the lg put the tv In the native not auto color space. Also if you are using ISF you should use standard on sony as ISF bright this year is just as bright as lg standard or vivid mode. Same goes for lg sport mode. So you can absolutely get the sony brighter in sdr because regardless the lg in ISF bright and or sport mode isn't accurate at all. Meaning you can also use the sony inaccurately. Standard and dcip3 is like lg ISF bright or sport mode its made to combat light and they push it wider color. Just letting you and others know you can do that on the sony. It kind of defeats the purpose of a comparison and turning everything off on the sony when you are using one of the least accurate modes on lg to get extra brightness and color. Using custom soby most accurate mode against lg ISF bright just doesn't make sense at all. That's comparing one mode pushing wide color space and another sitting in rec709 which is why you see that difference. Put it to standard and use dcip3 and you would realize you can get the same with sony. Tbh that would be more fair then comparing sony most accurate mode with lg completely inaccurate mode. Cinema vs custom would be way more correct so next time try using standard on sony with wider color if you are going to do the same with the lg. It's all about knowing the modes and how they are set internally luckily I do. And he'll if you want extremely vivid snd bright use vivid mode on doby since it seems you wanted wanted use the bright colorful mode on lg it would only make sense to do the same with sony. Regardless the processing and image quality differences are bigger then people would expect. I also love the depth and 3 dimensionality of the sony tvs this year with settings specifically. Also you should redo the comparison with some newer videos after this last update there are a few surprises in the latest update in a good way. Also if you didn't have them all hooked up together the sony signal wouldn't be lagging lol. Also if you noticed it was only the cut scenes that was noticeable in and Actual gameplay is spot on. Also the latest update fixed alot with gaming and you wouldn't see it happen regardless anymore. If you want that crushed game mode look you can get it with the sony I know with comparisons you turn the extras off which is fine. The options and versatility in the sony a90j is insane with the image that is. You should really redo this after the latest update as this is older scenes you recorded. There are alot of surprises in the update imo everything even looks a bit more refined even now.
    This is what I will say when comparing tvs it should be there most accurate modes if you use sony in custom the lg should be cinema. You can't compare the lg in ISF bright as you did even in the previous video just like here and go ahh the lg is bright and colorful. Sure it's in native color and on a brighter mode. the sony would be also in standard forced to a wider color space like ISF bright is on the lg. Even further more in vivid if you just want to use it for a bright room like ISF bright. So if you do both accurate do them both accurate if you do innacurate put the sony inaccurate also so you can show the true brightness and color of sony when it's also outside of its accurate mode. There is a reason you put lg in its innacurare mode its normal accurate mode was dimmer as you showed previously. It's like putting sony on vivid saying see sdr is brighter on sony. I get you think ISF must be accurate but ISF bright is anything but accurate.

    • @reviewforthetube6485
      @reviewforthetube6485 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Radical Thunder I agree but I'm talking I'm talking about that comparison specifically. If he's going to use lg completely immaculate mode ISF bright which forces wide color in sdr. Then why is he using sony most accurate mode custom and leaving it on auto? That's my point if you are going to compare a colorful inaccurate mode that doesn't track the eotf curve at all. Then you should do the same same the sony to make it fair. If he used standard it would of matched the ISF bright and if he moved it to dcip3 it would match the lg in native color space. That was my only point. Tbh if he's turning everything off the sony which is does in the lg vs sony comparisons then he should be comparing both in there most accurate modes. Otherwise it defeats the purpose as one is jacked up and one isn't idk hwo he doesn't realize it. Like wait how is is so much brighter and more color in ISF. Well that's because of the settings that are on inside of the preset. Commonsense tbh, he should do most accurate modesThat is cinema on lg vs custom on sony and the results are way different then you see here. Ifk anybody who uses ISF bright since he said cinema was to dim on his older video which shows sony most accurate mode is brighter thrn lg most accurate mode. He instead to supposedly make it more even put lg to ISF. Whst b doesn't understand is this year ISF bright forces wide color which is why it adds way more color then cinema as he showed in previous videos. I guess I'm saying it's a completely unfair comparison while giving lh and advantage due to not understand what internal settings are activated so you can make the comparison more similar. This is how a false narratives gets spread. People don't even know he's using ISF bright on lg which most won't use. It's so inaccurate man it's crazy. It was made for a bright room to combat light during daytime sdr viewing and with a wider color space. You can do the same with standard and vivid he'll doby in vivid does what lg in ISF bright does it forces dcip3 on the sony. So that would be an even nroe accurate comparison then this is. It's why the doby is so much brighter and has amazing color in hdr as they are both in the same color space in that type of content same goes for sdr when does correctly.
