People have always cared about graphics...going back to the 90's with the SNES vs Genesis debates. That said, it's definitely gotten out of hand over the last few years with sites like Digital Foundry. This generation of kids is far more obsessed with specs than anyone previously. I rarely hear talk about cool games anymore. It's all arguments about Switch vs PS4 or PC master race, blah blah blah....talk about specs, frame rate and resolution blah blah blah.

i bought the Pro and i am glad i did. I am a PC gamer who uses MSI 1080 graphics cards, but sometimes i just prefer playing consoles. It's nice to be able to get on a console and not notice a huge drop on picture quality and frame rate.
neiva, what i meant is, when i play my pc, the graphics are amazing, but as soon as i go on my ps4, it feels like the graphics are from a PS1.. When i play on my pro however, the graphics are that good it's almost like i am still playing my pc. I love how sony system designers never learn from past ps4 system releases, i.e if there was a thermal issue leading to over heating of base ps4, they should focus on using quality thermal paste between heatsink and apu unit on motherboard and using all copper heatsink for better heat dissipation and better thermal cooling performance. We would hope the ps5 would include quality thermal paste and quality heat sink...
Actually, I don't find a good reason to buy a PS4 Pro since the frame rate is still the same. A better frame rate would be the only thing that would convince me to upgrade my PS4.
Everyone here commenting "just get a PC". If people wanted to get a PC, they would've by now but we are waiting for a more powerful CONSOLE. Some people, like me, love playing on consoles. They have a more casual, comfortable feel.
Because you can sit in front of your tv on the sofa and play, they're an all in one package / plug-and-play (no upgrading graphics cards, ram, etc), they're not continually superseded. Consoles are renowned for being the more casual, less-powerful little brother of PC gaming.
Chardog you connect them to a tv, insert the disc and start playing. No waiting for installation. They boot up much faster and are better to play in a living room full of friends. Also you don’t need to worry about what games you are going to be able to run. I got a gaming pc and a ps4 pro and although I spend a lot more time playing on my pc (I only play ps exclusives and FIFA on the pro) if I had to give one of the two up it would be the pc hands down.

Plus I said that I only use the Pro for exclusives and FIFA so the argument of playing faster and better is not a factor. It is not only better graphics I had ps4 and I upgraded to pro for these reasons: -better graphics -30% increase performance In GPU -100% increase CPU -smoother in-games than regular ps4 -you can get better results if you are using an SSD hard drive because of SATA 3 -better Bluetooth connection -improved WIFI connection -you actually don’t need 4K tv but you still can notice the difference in 1080

Owned one for about a year & a half playing Skyrim SE at 4k. Very impressive performance & well worth the extra £. Must remember to only do this in a cold room though (I have it set up in a basement where it's always fresh) because otherwise it heats up, switches on the fan, & then you can't hear your games anymore!

I've installed an SSD into my PS4 PRO and it loads much more faster the games plus is more cooler, no heat inside and more quieter. I had the Toshiba HDD stock which came with the PS4 PRO. I am proud of the improvement.
Those Pro Patches are really what makes or breaks the console. Or at least the value over the slim model. And being offered 60fps or at least unlocked that can be very nice. So I will have to see just where it ends up. I like the idea of it. How more games get pro patches/pro mode the better.

I'm just getting a bit bored of the XBOX One and want to try something else. Yes, I understand I'm leaving a lot of games and progress behind so that's why I'm coming to you guys for some advise. Is the PS4 Pro/PS4 worth purchasing. If I were to do that I would be selling my 2.5 TB Xbox One, BF1, GTA, BO3, IW and COD RM, BF Hardline and so on. Idk how much that would get me but I'm sure it would save me a lot. I have afterglow headsets and controllers, they're both $60 each. PC users I know your systems might be better and that's great but I want to hear from the PS4 users and see what they think, thanks a lot. Anyways if you could provide me with the Pros and Cons I would very much appreciate that, and your opinion on if the decision is good or not worth it. Thanks a lot guys. (Sorry if my English is bad)

I have a PS4 pro and it is great to play with. This is my first console for this generation and the graphics are absolutely stunning and you can definitely tell a difference in resolution. Since I have a 4K TV the PS4 helps make use of that and makes games look amazing. I have even switched from 1080p to 4K on the PS4 and you can definitely tell a big difference as you could see the pixels in 1080p and it didn't look as sharp. But in 4K everything looks sharp and amazing. I would recommend to buy it if you have a 4K TV, have a little bit more money to use and if you want to enjoy this console generation and all the games come out to its full potential.
if youre watching the comparison clips in 1080 you cant tell you should see in higher resolution, make sure youre watching in 4k settings and 4k monitor
I actually think it's worth it even if you already own a PS4 because of trade in value. When a new console generation comes out a lot of people tend to keep their current one because it's the only way to continue to enjoy the games for it. With the PS4 Pro you will be playing the same games, so you can happily trade in your current PS4. I traded mine in for $175 and a game for $25 so I paid $200 out of pocket. Would have been over $100 with tax just for a 1TB hard drive to go in the original PS4. So for under $100 more than that I doubled my hard drive size and beefed up my console. Money well spent in my opinion.
Got the ps4 slim instead so many memories black ops 3 fortnite Minecraft red dead redemption 2 Spider-Man watch dogs 2 watch dogs 1 god of war ghost of Tsushima and now ps5 and these past 6 months with it have been good can’t wait for all the new games 😎

I was seriously thinking about getting one but I ended up changing my mind. Scorpio, which is actually a new generation of consoles, seems to be better worth it. I'm also waiting for Sony's response to that with a potential PS5, maybe one year after Scorpio's launch, in late 2018. PS4 Pro is only worth it to get HDR and a slight bump in res but in most cases, for now, you don't have any FPS / graphics boost.

Because you can sit in front of your tv on the sofa and play, they're an all in one package / plug-and-play (no upgrading graphics cards, ram, etc), they're not continually superseded.

Owned one for about a year & a half playing Skyrim SE at 4k. Very impressive performance & well worth the extra £. Must remember to only do this in a cold room though (I have it set up in a basement where it's always fresh) because otherwise it heats up, switches on the fan, & then you can't hear your games anymore!

I've installed an SSD into my PS4 PRO and it loads much more faster the games plus is more cooler, no heat inside and more quieter. I had the Toshiba HDD stock which came with the PS4 PRO. I am proud of the improvement.

Hey everyone, I'm an Xbox user and have been for about 7 years. My first console was a PS2 and we all know that was amazing. I'm just getting a bit bored of the XBOX One and want to try something else. Yes, I understand I'm leaving a lot of games and progress behind so that's why I'm coming to you guys for some advise. Is the PS4 Pro/PS4 worth purchasing. If I were to do that I would be selling my 2.5 TB Xbox One, BF1, GTA, BO3, IW and COD RM, BF Hardline and so on. Idk how much that would get me but I'm sure it would save me a lot. I have afterglow headsets and controllers, they're both $60 each. PC users I know your systems might be better and that's great but I want to hear from the PS4 users and see what they think, thanks a lot. Anyways if you could provide me with the Pros and Cons I would very much appreciate that, and your opinion on if the decision is good or not worth it. Thanks a lot guys. (Sorry if my English is bad)

I have a PS4 pro and it is great to play with. This is my first console for this generation and the graphics are absolutely stunning and you can definitely tell a difference in resolution. Since I have a 4K TV the PS4 helps make use of that and makes games look amazing. I have even switched from 1080p to 4K on the PS4 and you can definitely tell a big difference as you could see the pixels in 1080p and it didn't look as sharp. But in 4K everything looks sharp and amazing. I would recommend to buy it if you have a 4K TV, have a little bit more money to use and if you want to enjoy this console generation and all the games come out to its full potential.

I actually think it's worth it even if you already own a PS4 because of trade in value. When a new console generation comes out a lot of people tend to keep their current one because it's the only way to continue to enjoy the games for it. With the PS4 Pro you will be playing the same games, so you can happily trade in your current PS4. I traded mine in for $175 and a game for $25 so I paid $200 out of pocket. Would have been over $100 with tax just for a 1TB hard drive to go in the original PS4. So for under $100 more than that I doubled my hard drive size and beefed up my console. Money well spent in my opinion.

I was seriously thinking about getting one but I ended up changing my mind. Scorpio, which is actually a new generation of consoles, seems to be better worth it. I'm also waiting for Sony's response to that with a potential PS5, maybe one year after Scorpio's launch, in late 2018. PS4 Pro is only worth it to get HDR and a slight bump in res but in most cases, for now, you don't have any FPS / graphics boost.

The issue I have with your original comment isn't about you playing on consoles.
