    Diagnosed with MS at age 49 sept 2021 after massive relapse. Still recovering and on Ocrevus m. I have been seeing improvements monthly as I have mobility back but deal with dizziness and leg weakness still. We sold house and moved to rancher down Jersey shore to escape steps and heat. Best advice and what I am just learning is to go out early or late to avoid heat. It’s hard to be a prisoner during heat if the day but I am trying to adapt. I also use free MS hat, kerchief and vest from MS society when I do go out. Great tips!!!!

      Hey. If you're here in dirty Jersey - I know you're hurting the last two weeks. Omg. I feel like I'm going to die. Go for an evening dip for me chica. 💜💜

    Ice water on hand all the time has been life altering for me. I have extreme heat sensitivity that has gotten a bit better with Ocrevus but I find that drinking sips of ice water all day has improved my quality of life. I live in New York and the summers here can be brutal. I found a water bottle that keeps ice water cold with ice still in it for 12-13 hours (Hydroflask if anyone is interested) I fill it at night and keep it at my bedside. I wake up and have a cool drink. Throughout the day I keep refilling it with both water and ice. I still get hot but in this weather so does everyone. The difference is I’m not suffering.

    It was 107* here in Montana yesterday. 🥵 I'm thankful for central air and Ampyra! The Ampyra has been life changing for me! It works for mobility, fatigue, and heat sensitivity for me. 😊

    Thank you for this video! I live in orlando, and the heat this summer has been god awful! After taking Lemtrada in 2020, I have most days where I forget I even have MS. Unfortunately, the past few weeks here I have been experiencing many of my symptoms returning, and I think it is because of the heat, as my latest MRI was stable.

    I live in New Mexico. I use every device I can to stay cool; vests. I’m finding best relief from a small spray bottle keeping my head wet in moving air. I can’t get my doctors to even discuss Ampyra because they fear seizures which I’ve never had. But staying wet all the time is a road to rashes and perdition! I’m a prisoner in my own home!

      God bless to you precious angel, I'm pretty sure that you are physically fit seeing how you do what you do for your job. If you can get yourself a good cooling vest that might be a big help. I'm not sure how many years you've been doing that job but if it ever comes to a point where it's too much for you you may want to ask your supervisors if there is an indoor job that you could possibly do down the road. But for now you sound like you're toughest nails so I know you've got this. Take care

    Good morning Dr. Boster. My recipe for heat is the Peter B Lewis pool during the day with a/c before and after. When Ampyra became too expensive it ceased to be a resident in my medicine cabinet. Doug coffee in hand from Lyndhurst.

    Thank you Dr. Boster. I was doing last month the neurosurgery exam at university, despite 30+ C degrees I still got the maximum grade! Tomorrow I have another exam (radiology) and I equipped myself with a cooling jacket! 😊

    Thank you, Dr. Boster, great tips! Now I know this is a long shot, but if you have any plus-sized female patients that use a cooling vest, can you ask them about their vest? I have searched and tried different vests, but none fit me because I'm a 3X. I've even tried men's but they are too tight up top. Like I said, I know it's a long shot but when I saw your video I was reminded of the trouble I've had finding a vest. Thanks!!

    Hi! Brilliant video as always 😊 I'm in the U.K. and right now we are going through some extreme temperatures, 39 degrees which is incredibly hot for this country 😱 We are not prepared for this, most people don't have air conditioning at home. I have secondary progressive MS, I was diagnosed 16 years ago. Normally I suffer really badly with heat sensitivity, I can't walk and am so fatigued 😢 This year though is so different, I'm actually quite cold, I'm not feeling the heat at all 😱 This makes no sense to me, as my body obviously knows it is hot as I'm not walking well. I've never heard of someone feeling cold. Can anyone explain this please, thanks X

    • @nyrhockeychick4life655
      @nyrhockeychick4life655 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can't imagine the hell of no air conditioning. I'm so sorry. Also, you had me at nodding my head until you said "cold" or cool. I wonder if maybe your body is somehow adapting to the hell heat, as a defense mechanism or something. That's wild. I guess that's not a super bad thing though. Good luck 🤗

    My goodness I wish that you were my neurologist. I’m having to transfer neurologists because the one I’m seeing doesn’t specialize in MS and it doesn’t feel like I am being treated the best. The one I’m transferring to does specialize in MS and hopefully things will be better. Keep up the good work, love your videos.

    Dear Dr Aaron Boster, many thanks for your videos. What I do to overcome heat ( I live in Tehran-Iran which temperature goes up to 47c in summer) is that I smoke a little bit of cannabis and the feeling of my body temperature goes significantly down in a way that I even stop sweating!!
    Have you ever heard this from anyone else?

    Can you compare the efficacy/ side effects of ampyra to the compounded 4-aminopyridine (4AP) specifically for beating the heat? I have taken ampyra (dalfampridine) for years. While it significantly helps my walking/balance I haven’t noticed aid with my heat issues.

    • @kristinaguerette3865
      @kristinaguerette3865 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Following. I'm going to try Ampyra, starting this week, but my insurance only covers for 3 months so I'm exploring the idea of getting 4-AP to use for the rest of the year, since it's a lot cheaper to pay for out of pocket.

    I heard yesterday that you can put a wet rag in the freezer and take it out with you, or do the same with your socks. I’m going to send for a new cooling vest, since you mentioned our wonderful summers here in Ohio and the humidity that comes with it 🥵🥵

    I don’t have the same heat sensitivity as others. It has to be super hot for me to notice anything at all. Perhaps it’s because I sip ice water constantly and take Ampyra? Ampyra seems to do A LOT of things that aren’t listed in the material. My dr prescribed it for improved sensation during sex. It worked for that too!
