Correction: flax seed, not flax seed oil, is the better recommendation. The seed gives you the omega 3 fatty acids and also fiber. Oil
    Has fiber removed. Sorry guy!

Weight loss is helped by snacking to keep your blood sugar levels even, I thought. I get lightheaded, blurry vision and shaky if I go a few hours without eating.

That was so very informative!! My daughter has MS and we've read how important nutrition is, however because there is so much info out there, was never was able to put it all together and have it make sense. You are the fist to explain, the why, the how and how much.. and... how to execute!! It now makes total sense!! Thank you so very much!! 👏👏👏

I use Muscle milk in my cereal, Amazon has a 365 brand with 0 sugar I usual put 2 of them with 1 really low 8 sugar per serving one in 1 of those big cereal containers and make a mix good protien and fiber, and use a muscle milk with a little water it's kinda thick, and can keep all nearby in anyroom I might fall asleep in deepending on body in case it might be a bad morning and easy to have in a room just in case!

Thanks for the tips Dr. B! I've been following an "MS friendly" diet for over 15 years before my official diagnosis and I believe it's the reason I have little disability today. I also began intermittent fasting about 2.5 years ago, also before my diagnosis, and did notice a boost in energy and improvement in my now known MS symptoms. Personally, I have found that limiting dairy has improved my symptoms. Before my diagnosis I was adding whole milk or half & half to my coffee and noticed it caused my vision to become cloudy and blurry due to the Uthoff phenomenon. Oddly (and thankfully), it doesn't happen when eating cheese or the occasional ice cream. I currently take fish oil instead of flax, but I am aware of the studies and considering adding flax oil to my supplements. What is your opinion of fish oil?

I've been doing Keto and IF for 3 months and have been doing quite well. I am only doing fasting 18 hours 3 times per week and have been throwing in a 24 hour fast every few weeks. I'm not doing daily fasting as I don't want my system getting used to that as a norm but rather a shock to the system to keep my micro biome on it's toes. I do add ground flax seed as a salad topping and eat lots of avocado. I've also cut out all seed oils and use only Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Avocado Oil, and EV Coconut Oil for cooking. It would have been nice to know about this style of eating 40 years ago but it'll have to do for now.

Along with your "5 a day" , your "reccomended daily intake" , "supplements " and "personalised food" . That's a whole lot of food to take in daily for people who need to keep an eye on their weight ! Here in the UK were told by experts (???) to avoid dairy , it's difficult to know who to believe ( I choose you). So much genral information given that we have to select and personalise it , to what works for you ( and that can take a long time ).
Thanks for the info , always look forward to seeing your videos . Cheers .

Currently trying intermittent fasting for the 3rd time. I started with 12 hours off, then moved to 14 hours. I am now at the 16/8. That was the key for me to be successful. I found myself cheating otherwise. Long way to go but I am already losing weight. I also started walking. I can’t go far as MS has taken that from me, but I do what I can. As always, love your videos and all you do for us.

Is there any versions of these for professionals? The videos are great for the elderly or the average joe 6 pack.
Could you do a longer video. Basically just doing a breakdown of all your ms reccomendations. But with the why and theory behind it?
Kind of like how hubberman does?
The why is more important then the how. The how is easy. But each why can be adjusted for each person.
Love your videos by the way.

Hi Doc new subscriber here. Curious if u have patients who have ocular motor dysfunction from relapse (nystagmus or saccadic oscillations). I have APN & saccadic oscillations. My JH Neurologist believes I have MS (also suffered catastrophic tinnitus during this recent 10 month attack, 37/F) but Im painfully awaiting an evaluation with a MS Neurologist at Penn Med. Are u taking new patients?

I traveled to Ohio to get diagnosed properly from Dr. Hertle as I have Vision damage specific to ms (acquired pendular nystagmus). Now seeking help from rhe Neuro immunology clinic at John Hopkins. U cannot get help in the area of Philadelphia currently. Penn Medicine Temple Drexel Jefferson have all failed, told me my MRI was clear yet John Hopkins has concerns. I'm on a year now of being untreated and undiagnosed officially.

Excellent video as always, Aaron! Thank you for covering this important subject. My question/concern is this. I have IBS, am prone to SIBO, constipations, and kidney stones. I've removed gluten, sugar, and dairy from my diet and it's helped remove gut pain for the most part. However, my B12 is now low and I'm now getting B12 injections. My diet already follows MUCH of what you outlined, I'm floating away between water/Metamucil/tea!!! Ha! But I'm gaining weight like crazy this year, and why the sudden low B12? What else can I do about my diet that will help me lose weight? Any thoughts/recommendations are appreciated. (Apologies for the long comment!)

Congratulations for your channel here, where you provide very useful information that is helpful to a lot of people. Related to the topic: I tried various styles of eating: vegan, paleo... and the only one that made me feel good was the omnivorous one. In fact, although I have been diagnosed with MS for 11 years by several doctors, including a lecturer, I have not found any medicine to help me and even Tysabri made my condition worse. Besides that, last year, I was diagnosed with borreliosis and 10 other conditions and I was given supplements to strengthen the immune system, by the way, looking back, it never helped me when my immunity decreased, but when I grew the body's resistance, I felt good. Can I have both MS and borreliosis? Or should I only have borreliosis and be confused with MS? I repeated the tests for borreliosis 2 times and it was the same. I hope you can help me with an answer and I want to send you my most sincere congratulations and best wishes!

I'm in Canada and a level of 50-100 serum vitamin D is simply not enough for MS. Not everyone is in the united states, so broadly telling people to have a vitamin D level between 50-100 is not going to cut it for those in countries whose labs use nmol/L as a unit of measurement for vit. D. The U.S. uses ng/ml where readings and reference ranges for serum vit. D are much lower. I need between 150-200 nmol/L of vit. D. Another country that also uses nmol/L is the UK. Thank you for getting good information out on nutrition for MS, which not many neurologists do (mine never has).

I understood him to say 20oz. He said women should get a total of 100 oz. So broken into 5 servings is 20oz each. That’s a big glass. 😳 I haven’t had any stomach surgery and I know my stomach won’t hold 20oz at meal time. I’m already peeing all the time and I try to get 64 oz. He did say if your urine is clear you’re likely getting enough water, and if your urine is yellow you aren’t getting enough.

So, I avoid it unless I want to experience inflammation for days, I think not, but sometimes it happens! I take many supplements a day and used to be an avid beach goer until I couldn't. I do take 5,000 units of D daily. I know I need to improve my protein intake, always a challenge for me.

Organic hemp seed protein is the bees knees. 15 grams of protein per serving (4 tablespoons). 1 ingredient. Almost a complete protein. My nutritionist told me to snack as I am no where near overweight and exercise daily. I don’t eat crappy food. I read labels and am constantly learning more ingredients to avoid. I drink lots of water. Great video.

I'm interested to find hemp seed protein, because meat is sometimes not easy on my digestion. Michael, is there a particular place or brand of it that you can suggest? Thanks. Easiest place for me with shopping is usually Amazon. I'll consider other online locations to shop from.
