Right on review. Both my spouse and I have a Titan. I have a trailer to transport two Titans. They are a beast on land, but once in the water they are fantastic for fishing and cruising. Fishing for muskies and walleyes in rough weather is relaxed due to the Titan's stability, which is great for this 71 year old. The issues you described is consistent with our ownership. I solved the seat noise with a simple use of a foam cushion on the seat. The propeller noise I just learned is being corrected by a fix from Native. My biggest concern has been the Boonedox wheels and I am waiting for a response from Boonedox thru my dealer. The tires go flat when the Titan weight is applied making it very difficult to move with a flat side. Otherwise, the size and stability is everything I had sought in a fishing kayak. The Titan is a joy to fish from. Thanks Greg for your videos. Enjoy the best of times- Fishing.
Thanks Rev. Pat Pierce. Trailer is definitely the way to go. Must be a rush catching those fish up close and personal! Never caught a walleye but have landed a few Tiger muskie and they're gorgeous fish. Interesting about the seat, I'll have to give it a try. That's too bad about your boonedox wheels, I hope that gets sorted out for you. Thanks for watching and my pleasure!
Nice. Thanks.I can see Delta and Lake fishing, but heaveir water like surf or big lakes and bays wouldn't survive for long. You don't fish those waters so you are good. Great videos as always. Fish on.
NiCe Kayak.. WoW..Hats off to ya.. My set up is .. I'm a Professional Amateur , Bought a Hobie Oasis Tandem July 2017, First boat..using it as a solo kayak.. Originally bought it to do wildlife photography .. but I figured while I was out there , might as well fish while I was out there right..so I go out with 3 rods.. 2 for trolling and 1 with a bobber for lunch time .. gotta 150 hrs plus in it .. really enjoying it! .. top speed 6mph solo ..havn't fished for 30 yrs but I'm picking it back up.. longest trek was 19.5 miles, a learning experience, bring more FooD! LoL! .. Hobie Oasis 14' 6" .. empty weight 93 lbs , 550 carry weight.. when I pull into the parking lot.. in 15 minutes I'm in the water .. using a Deeper Sonor Plus with a Galaxy Tablet.. Good Luck to ya!
Good review. I can see how this boat is favored by flat-water fishers who don't need to load it overhead (150 lbs? Yikes!). It is so wide to be barge like yet the pedal drive makes it faster and more nimble that it's girth would lead one to believe. You yourself saw how this kind of boat behaves in chop when you capsized and needed rescue though. So it isn't for big water fishing or maritime fishers. I used to paddle an Ocean Kayak Prowler 15 and surf-launched it. I would never, ever even consider the Titan for ocean or big water fishing. I fished Lake Crowley California in white caps ithat would dump the Titan but didn't my Prowler. There is no "one boat fits all", the Titan is a great boat for a certain range of waters and so perfect for some. Right boat for the right water. Thanks for the review.
4 months so glad you waited for a while, too many people do one the first day they have it. I agree the landing gear is a must on these big yaks, I have a pro angler 14 with boondox. Only way to go.
Thanks for the thoughtful review. Seems like the Titan 10 will be a nice middle ground. We are already seeing customers pre buying boats off of our October shipment.
Anytime! Very cool! Yes, I do believe the Titan 10.5 will suit more anglers just because of the potential weight issue. Looking forward to seeing the 10.5 and 12 versions!
Great review Greg. I'm contemplating replacing my PA14 with this kayak. Just doing the research and watching as many video reviews of this boat as possible before I make my decision. Thank you for your review.
Thanks, David! I'd say if you use a trailer than this boat would be hard to beat. I'd say if you truck bed or use alternative methods for transport, wait until they release the Titan 10.5 and 12! Thanks for watching!
That wiring, lol. I would not drill the boat, but I would attach a plastic pipe to the gear track, and run the wire through it.Great video, than you for sharing . Liked, and shared. :)
Great review Greg and glad you are rocking the Titan. The kayak is slightly too big for my size and needs. Look forward to the 10.5 foot version coming out I believe it would be a winner, still offering tons of capacity and stability while being possible to car top.
Totally accurate review ... hundreds of miles peddled on the water this year ... Big Lake ..Big seas ... No worries. 250# guy that feels totally safe and stable. Can not wait to try the 12'. No lie ...I was out on Oneida Lake in 4 footers with this boat. Greg .. could you imagine pulling this one through the sand for a surf launch ?? BoonDox needs to tweak that model to make it handle the weight better.
I'd only add to what Stormy Outdoors posted that, yes, Boonedox could "tweak" its Landing Gear for the Titan, and other makes and models, too; but, it'd be really nice for Native to concede the point that if you own a very large kayak, a Titan 13.5 for sure, that it is very likely going to be wheeled down to the water. So, if this is a 99% certainty, why isn't Native beefing up, even providing a custom mount location for a Boonedox Landing Gear? Native is, after all, doing exactly this by providing two mounting areas at the stern on the 13.5 for micro power poles. So, Native relies on Boonedox to beef up its backing plates? Absurd. Take the lead here, Native! You are already working with Boonedox so mold in what is needed from the factory. It could be a multi-purpose mount so if not for a Landing Gear, perhaps someone could use the mounts for outriggers and a ton of other things. brad P.S. Good review, Greg!
Great to hear! Yeah, I remember being on Oneida when it got a "little" choppy in my slayer 13 and I couldn't get to shore fast enough! Just not my cup of tea with big waves and feeling like I could flip at anytime. No issues with the Titan. Size is definitely what makes it so great but also a pain! I don't even think you could roll this through the sand, or at least, not very far. I've actually tried putting a C-TUG cart on the front so that it has 4 wheels and that makes carting it (on level surfaces) a breeze! 10.5 and 12 definitely intrigue me!
Thanks for the Titan review! Hope Native adds the hatch in the rear for access as well as making a change in the seat material to get rid of the noise. But otherwise looks like the yak I may be buying!
I did a search on the 12' titan you mentioned, didn't find any info about it. Was hoping there'd be some info out about it. Going to wait and see if this 12 footer happens. I like the old town pdl specs but it seems the titan has room to lay down rods on the side of the seat which I do a lot. Rudder seems way better on the pdl though.
Lojo, I am a big fan of your channel and will continue to be, so please don't take this the wrong way. But, I just have to wonder why you returned your Native Titan. It just seemed like a complete 180 from some of your previous videos. The explanation for returning it in your video comparing the Hobie to the Titan just did not make sense to me so maybe you can elaborate on that. First all the PA is a great boat, no doubt. But, early on you mentioned the problems with your rudder / cable on the Titan and then posted in the comments of one of your videos it was an easy fix. Then out of the blue it was returned for this same exact reason? I can honestly say, that I would not return my Titan for a cable issue as the system is so simple that any issues are easily fixed and I would not give up the stability of my Titan to swap it for a Hobie PA. I have had some other issues with my Titan, and at times even questioned my purchase, but all have been easily resolved with a few modifications and I am glad that I took the time to make these mods and work through problems and make the boat my own, the way I want it to be, and to suit my needs. So, please forgive me but I have to point blank ask, is Hobie now a sponsor of your channel? If so, no problem I just think everyone should have full disclosure if that is the case. Or was it some other specific factors that changed your mind about the Titan?
I do like the Titan but places I go would just be too rough.. Putting in under highways etc..with all the gear I take on my propel 13 I'm sure I look like over kill..I take EVERYTHING unless I'm fly fishing..the space under that hatch for poles is a big plus, or for camping gear..
So, I'm curious why you prefer the swing arm for the transducer over mounting it underneath the kayak? Do you feel you have more adjustable options with it being on the swing arm? Just curious because I really like this kayak and am thinking of buying one this coming year.
Questiosn about the 12-VDC power for the GoPros: 1. Are you using GP4s or 5s? 2. Have you figured out how to make the USB power for GPs water-resistant or water-proof? Kind of important in kayaks unless you watn to replace all your GPs if you capsize.
Gopro 4 black rear cam, Hero 3 silver front cam. Nope, I have not and it's actually a new addition for me installed by a friend. It's in the black pak and for me personally I don't see flipping. Mainly because I watch the weather diligently now before I go out on the water and also because I've been in some serious waves already in the Titan and have been no where close to flipping. I actually am not sure I could even voluntarily flip this boat without help.
Greg Blanchard right on, I'm pretty sure they come at 28 inches. One inch longer than the hobie. I've seen videos where people say the systems rub and feel flimsy with the bar you have. Is that true of your set up?
I noticed in one of the shots that before you loaded the kayak, the Rudder was removed. Do you remove the rudder prior loading and put it back on prior to each use?
A very comprehensive review, well done. I do have one question regarding the fishfinder: how do you power it up? Do you also hook it up to the same battery as the go pro? I'm considering buying a fishfinder, but a kayak with two people on board has only so much room for gear. Thanks!
Thank you! 12v battery in the front hatch. I have a separate battery in my yak attack blakpak, also a 12v, for the gopro. This boat will support 500 pounds so you'd really have to load it up!
Greg, I love watching your videos. Definitely getting me to look at the Native kayaks. Quick question, what line do you use on your Rage Menace and Chatterbaits? Keep up the good fishing and you make things real for the regular working man. Have you ever thought of coming to the Southeast to fish? Georgia or Tennessee?
Greg I’m looking into buying the TitAn 12. When you are loading it on the back of your truck, does the rudder ever scrape the floor when the from of the kayak is placed on the bed of your truck?
Hi Greg, Considering a Titan. I fish southern California bays in a small kayak now. I'm looking for something that would allow me to stand and fish ( i use fly fly rod sometimes) and have more confidence to go out of the harbors (newport , dana point, huntington beach) . Seems like from the research I've done these are every bit as capable as a hobie pro angler. What do you give up on the 10.5 ? What would you recommend after having both the 13.5 and 10.5 kayaks? Thank you for the video it provided a lot of insight.
Hey Greg great review! I know you're busy but really need your advice. I'm a T7- T8 para and fish from shore but accessibility is terrible. I've gotten to the point that purchasing a yak is a must. Because of your PT and fishing background you have insight that others don't. Let me know what you think. Thanks
Thanks, Victor. If you take a look at my TH-cam page and go to the "About" tab and reveal my email address, please feel free to send me an email and we can have an ongoing discussion or even a phone conversation if you prefer. I have worked with many SCI's any would be more than happy to provide any advice I could.
Great video Greg. Quick question. As you picked up the front to load the native and the rear went down, it looked like the rudder hit the ground. Will this cause damage at all if it continually happens?
I have been concerned about this same thing. My rudder drags whenever I put the bow up on the trailer to load it. The rudder will completely bend. So far, I have not had an issue with the factory rudder. However, some people have had issues with rudder damage when they have replaced the factory rudder with the all metal Boonedox rudder which does not flex. For this reason, I will be keeping the factory rudder. The Titan will already turn on a dime, I see no need to put an aftermarket rudder on it.
Yep, you're right. I take the rudder off with transport. I'm so used to it now it takes me 10 seconds but can be a pain initially or if you're trying to install the rudder in the dark
Have you had any problems with the Boonedox landing gear cracking or damaging your hull? I saw a video of a guy that said his hull started cracking due to the landing gear. Also, does the rudder cable break off often if you leave it stock?
It is a great boat, but just to big for me, how ever the Titan 10.5 is looking pretty good which is coming out this October I believe, its on there website
Greg do you think you will be going to the 12' or 10.5' version or will you stay with the 13.5' i will be purchasing the 10.5' seems like it would fit my needs a little better, great review btw
Greg Blanchard Yep im preordering one soon as possible at my local yak shop! Im sure with your relationship with native you will have one quicker than most cant wait for a video thanks for the reply and tight lines
Personally, I don't see it happening, it's too big to lift that high, especially if you're by yourself. Just getting it into the bed of my truck is hard enough
Yea, Greg is right in the video. You'd definitely want a trailer or a truck bed with an extender. I went the extender route. It's not that bad to wheel around with the landing gear, I'd say it feels more like 70-80 lbs when you're moving it which is okay for me as a bigger guy but I do have to be careful of where I put in/take out. Steep ramps and shores are pretty much a no go if I don't want to ruin my back.
Not bad, I only have a small bit after a months worth of trips, and it might be coming from the rear hatch actually. This boat was the 2nd Titan made so the sealant on the rear hatch is supposedly sub par which they've corrected. Agreed, I don't care about the noise from the seat (maybe I'm used to it from the slayer?). But yeah, overall, great boat if you have a good means of getting it on/off the water!
Aliex Fishing TV the first day I took mine out it was pretty choppy. I took about 3 waves over the bow. While the compartment had about 2 cups of water the inside of the kayak remained dry.
Who (what manufacturer) has the best/most comfortable seat in a sit-on-top kayak that you have experienced? Native? Feel Free? Crescent? Old Town? Jackson? Hobie? Etc.? Your thoughts?? (Responses MUCH appreciated!)
nope, pretty dry ride. you might get some water in the boat from the rudder cable holes but that's when it's a choppy day and we're talking maybe a cup of water inside the hull.
I just purchased a 2019 Hobie PA 14 for my son and a Native Titan 13.5 for myself.....You thank the Titan seat is noisy ...The Hobie is just as noisy if not more so.....As for water I fished for 10 hrs yesterday....Not one drop of water in the boat at the end of day......The Native beats the Hobie for stability..... its not even close.....I do like the Hobie drive a little better.....
How is you rudder cable holding up Greg? Mine has broken twice in 5 trips. This is a pathetic design and completely inadequate for a Kayak of this weight.
Hello Greg. Just wanted to say that I love the channel and that I am glad to see this honest, and accurate review. I am 100% in agreement with everything you said about the Titan. There are fixes for the two negatives you described. If you will do the seat mod, (links below) it totally changes how much you enjoy the Titan. At least it did for me and I believe the fish can hear / feel that popping coming from the seat. The only thing left for me to do is to find better tires for the Boonedox as the tires are just not heavy duty enough for a loaded Titan. th-cam.com/video/FhKx4iFUwG8/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/f5nilNtnNMQ/w-d-xo.html
Really just depends on your preferences, very different boats. The Titan 10.5 will be a boat to look out for come this November. I have a feeling it will be a big winner
Nothing for Nothing, but my waist size is 46'' and I'm 6'4'' with an added weight of 280lbs. I don't think that that kayak will suit my needs..Unless I'm missing something, Am I missing something?.
Greg, there was a video done by scoutshooter showing how he modified his seat. It seemed to work well. th-cam.com/video/f5nilNtnNMQ/w-d-xo.html. Also, did you get the upgraded propeller to take care of the cavitation issue?
just getting into it researching some of the brands what there about price points material yadayadayada there price man i can see a yak being 1k and with a drive system 1500 but 2k and up why even buy i can get a real boat for that price better stability faster speed better haul ..... if spending 2k or more why are you looking at yaks ? i get people need paid but if very few people are buying it your not getting your part of the market.... am i wrong pontoon boats go for 1500 n up used...bass john boats 1500 with a real motor not no 3mph. this market is a snitch market im interested very but these yaks are way too exspensive!!!!!
The pros of a kayak over a boat is that you dont need a trailer (though for bigger yaks like this im sure a trailer would make things easier), you dont have to register them in most states, zero maintenance costs, and they can go places that boats cant go like creeks and shallower waters. There are plenty of cheap entry level fishing kayaks on the market that will get the job done just fine. These bigger and more expensive pedal kayaks are targeted at people who have been kayak fishing for awhile and want to upgrade to something that better fits their needs and wants on the water, hence all the extra bells and whistles that drive the price up.
The answer is, no. If I am to pack that Kayak like the way I see it, I would rather buy a boat because you will not go far with that low hulled garbage. You are always at risk on a low hulled Kayak like these because they are not Canoes, which can take some rough water, but this Kayak, like all other low hulled Kayaks, would in no time take water from choppy and rough water. Let's face it, you hit the water during the early part of the day. You are anywhere in the middle of a placid lake on a warm day, suddenly a cool change comes with gusty and cold winds where the placidness of the lake becomes choppy waters. You're on the Kayak in summer clothes. The cool change gets colder, you take water and start to get cold. You suffer and wished you'd have had a boat with some protection against the elements. But no, you chose this heavy thing and no protection, a summer toy, in fact a toy that is only good for still water and warm day. How often will you use it? Maybe 5-6 times in summer but not on cold or windy days and choppy water. So, yeah, a terrible waste of money I'd say.
Try switching the sides the wheels are on to see if it feels lighter to pull. They will be angled forward towards the middle
Right on review. Both my spouse and I have a Titan. I have a trailer to transport two Titans. They are a beast on land, but once in the water they are fantastic for fishing and cruising. Anytime man it is!
One of the best reviews I've seen! Great channel, glad I found it!
Good review. I can see how this boat is favored by flat-water fishers who don't need to load it overhead (150 lbs? Yikes!). Finally. Been waiting on this video for a while. Awesome set up.
Thanks Eric! I was glad to finally get this one out there for you guys!

Thanks P-Dub! Yep, the 10.5 will be a great boat for sure. Looking forward to seeing it in action!
I can't get over how big that kayak is. Bet that thing is like a cadillac on the water!
Always great flicks GB!!!💯💪👊

Seat noise: I'd try some silicone spray. Same stuff you spray on auto door gaskets to stop them squeaking.
Great reviews!
I need this in my life
Another great video Greg! Why don't you do a rod and reel arsenal video and go through your setups?
Thank you ! Will probably do that this fall!
Nice comprehensive review! Thank you!
Thank you! I hope Irma was easy on you!
we got lucky. Minor damage. Thank goodness!
Thanks for the Titan review! Hope Native adds the hatch in the rear for access as well as making a change in the seat material to get rid of the noise. But otherwise looks like the yak I may be buying!
Anytime, Terry! It's a great boat for sure as long as you have a good means getting it in/out of the water!

I saw the Titan at ACK yesterday. Naval vessels are smaller than it!
Haha, when I saw it for the first time I thought the same thing!
It is looking like my future boat, let's see
Not what it was designed for, but looks like the perfect vessel for wildlife photography...
Thanks for the review Greg !
Thanks, Chris!
I love mine.Only major flaw is the rutter wheel gets all filled up with sand and gravel and makes the rutter movement not smooth at all.
Great video brotha like always
Thanks my friend!
Greg what cross member did you use for landing gear and did you buy it from?
I do like the Titan but places I go would just be too rough.. Putting in under highways etc..with all the gear I take on my propel 13 I'm sure I look like over kill..I take EVERYTHING unless I'm fly fishing..the space under that hatch for poles is a big plus, or for camping gear..

Great review brother!!!!
Thanks brother!
Love the channel!!!! Love the boat, I own the same color. My question is what length is your cross bar for the landing gear?
THanks Budd Yakker! Ah, I'd have to go double check but it's specific for the Titan when you purchase it.
Greg Blanchard right on, I'm pretty sure they come at 28 inches. One inch longer than the hobie. I've seen videos where people say the systems rub and feel flimsy with the bar you have. Is that true of your set up?

Thanks man! 60# braid for the menace, 20# fluoro for the chatterbaits. I have actually, you guys have some legendary fisheries!
If you start catching fish, where do you put them?
A great review. Thanks for sharing
Thanks, Ralph. Anytime.
Awesome Kayak!!!!
Thanks man!! I love it
Sweet review of ur yak
im looking into one of the native watercraft titans. does the 13.5 transport well in a 6.5 ft silverado bed?
Greg Blanchard - I really appreciate it and will send you an email, thanks!
Wow! That is quite an expensive Canoe, i may have to hold the purchase of my Les Paul for that thing, well all for the sake of fishing,
Do you think a 55lb thrust electric motor will fit through the pedal drive hole?
just boat my titan and landing gear off ACK did you have to buy the middle bar and bolt kit seperate for landing gear?
Also, does the rudder cable break off often if you leave it stock?
none at all. no, only when you upgrade to the boonedox rudder with a bigger throw on it
Great video!!!!!!!!!!!!
Haha, You watched the whole thing? LOL
YES YOU SHOULD
What size truck bed are you using - Standard, extended, or short?
It is a great boat, but just to big for me, how ever the Titan 10.5 is looking pretty good which is coming out this October I believe, its on there website
Titan 10.5 looks sweet! cant wait for it
Nice kayak,
Thanks, Gustavo.
How do you think it would do on the sac or feather for salmon ?
the background reminds me of el centro
Can you attach a motor to it?
Extender or trailer, alright!
Greg do you think you will be going to the 12' or 10.5' version or will you stay with the 13.5' i will be purchasing the 10.5' seems like it would fit my needs a little better, great review btw
Because of my lifestyle and constant moving (with needing to store kayaks in apartments at times), I will be going with the 10.5.
Greg Blanchard Yep im preordering one soon as possible at my local yak shop! Im sure with your relationship with native you will have one quicker than most cant wait for a video thanks for the reply and tight lines
Great detailed review! In your opinion, can the Titan be loaded onto the roof of a Ford Expedition suv?
Personally, I don't see it happening, it's too big to lift that high, especially if you're by yourself. Just getting it into the bed of my truck is hard enough
iGoVroomVroom Thanks. I like the Titan features, but sounds like ease of transportability would be an issue.
Agreed with the comments. I racked it once by myself and it was not fun. So no, trailer or truck bed for sure. Thanks for watching!
iGoVroomVroom Thanks, much appreciated!
thanks greg!
Anytime!
Spray some dry lithium grease where the fabric wraps the pipes. It may fix it without getting lubricant on your clothes
CAn you help me? Age is an issue...I want to use it to take pictures using a heavy tripod and big lens.
Looks like water is going to get inside the kayak from the front hatch, how bad is it?
Great review 5 rods 5 reels
Lol, thanks man
You move to CA from TX? Great information thanks 👍🏼
Thanks, Bolt! I did.I move every 3-6 months.
Greg Blanchard move back its the best State in the nation 😁
Hey Greg, so what part of Cali is this. I'm there all the time and don't recognize this area.
is there any difference between the 13.5 and the 10.5 as far as the tip over? Let me know I see your on a 10.5 now
Who (what manufacturer) has the best/most comfortable seat in a sit-on-top kayak that you have experienced?
Native?
Feel Free?
Crescent?
Old Town?
Jackson?
Hobie?
Etc.?
Your thoughts??
(Responses MUCH appreciated!)
Demo
Awsome yak thumbs up
Thanks, Bubba Bass!
Did you find yourself talking in any water? Did you have to go waterproof any of the screws, rail systems, is anything like that?
nope, pretty dry ride. you might get some water in the boat from the rudder cable holes but that's when it's a choppy day and we're talking maybe a cup of water inside the hull.
I love my titan
It's a great boat for sure
if the seat noise is an issue then maybe the water splashing will too???
The only thing left for me to do is to find better tires for the Boonedox as the tires are just not heavy duty enough for a loaded Titan.

th-cam.com/video/f5nilNtnNMQ/w-d-xo.html
what net is that?
g2 landing net
Is the Native LT better?
Really just depends on your preferences, very different boats. The Titan 10.5 will be a boat to look out for come this November. I have a feeling it will be a big winner
Nothing for Nothing, but my waist size is 46'' and I'm 6'4'' with an added weight of 280lbs. I don't think that that kayak will suit my needs..Unless I'm missing something, Am I missing something?.
Big heavy boat! So you need a truck or trailer to transport it.
No he doesn't
The noise from the seat don't bothere
How much does it cost bare?
3300
Greg, there was a video done by scoutshooter showing how he modified his seat. It seemed to work well.
th-cam.com/video/f5nilNtnNMQ/w-d-xo.html. Also, did you get the upgraded propeller to take care of the cavitation issue?
How much money do you have in that setup?
Hard to say since I don't even have it anymore but maybe another 2K after the kayak itself
Has anyone used this in the ocean yet?
Here is a video on how to get rid on the seat noise
th-cam.com/video/f5nilNtnNMQ/w-d-xo.html
just getting into it researching some of the brands what there about price points material yadayadayada
there price man i can see a yak being 1k and with a drive system 1500 but 2k and up why even buy i can get a real boat for that price better stability faster speed better haul ..... if spending 2k or more why are you looking at yaks ? i get people need paid but if very few people are buying it your not getting your part of the market.... am i wrong pontoon boats go for 1500 n up used...bass john boats 1500 with a real motor not no 3mph. this market is a snitch market im interested very but these yaks are way too exspensive!!!!!
Please don't drag that kayak on the ground. It makes me cringe! Lol
NO. You shouldn't buy a Titan.
EVERYBODY SHOULD BUY ANOTHER KAYAK...
No you should not!
Huh?
