    I love my Titan 13.5. I did modify the rudder because mine didn't track really straight. The stock rudder didn't seem to have much effect in the plus or minus 7 degree rudder movements. These all had the boondocks rudder upgrade. I skinned the rudder with .020" thick aluminum so it tracks really great now. I modified the prop too and got a little more speed out of the boat. I can cruse at a steady 4.0 mph for over 30 minutes and Im 67 years old.

    Great review! Thanks for showing all three. I bought the Titan 12 from Delaware Paddlesports in Lewes Delaware and really enjoy this kayak. The first upgrade I made was the Boondox rudder as the factory rudder isn't the best. I also just installed the bull nose prop that Native sells as an upgrade and this prop is much quieter. Love fishing the local ponds in this kayak.

    Thanks ,Great video I’ll go with the 12 I was leaning towards the 10 five, but after your initial review on the three kayaks I would go with the 12
    Thanks,

    Great video guys! I’ve been saving for a 13.5. I’m 320 and 6’3” so max capacity of 600 lbs and the width is what I want. The Old Town PDL, XL, AND MK intrigue me, but I keep coming back to Titan!

    Great review guys , this demo only leaves us to get on the boat ourself. I actually saw one of these kayaks for sale and was scratching my head for a while. It's nice to see another pedal kayak , I do like the stability and pedal system shown.

    you help me a lot in making an important decision I've been looking at upgrading from a BKC 13 fishing lake Ontario and that's 13 and a half is going to be the ticket for me because I need the width for the stability when it gets a little windy and having my trolling motor on there when I'm fishing especially when I'm trolling that is absolutely amazing and it looks like the pedal drive would work with a person that has big feet I myself I've got a 13 shoe size and with this BKC the bottom of my foot kept hitting the bottom that looks like that wouldn't be a problem I really appreciate you taking the time to show all three and then is an advantages and the disadvantages That's 13 and a half is the ticket for me thank you very much

  • @glenndaugherity6187
    @glenndaugherity6187 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The one thing I worry about being a beginner kayak guy is the stability when you lean over to like land a fish ! But these don’t look like that would be a concern at all. Even though most times I’ll be fishing in shallower water is still don’t want to go over.

    I have the sp13 myself. Once you get a feel for the boat you can walk all over it too. Today I fished standing on the seat, tank well and the sides of the front hach. I'm 6'3" and 225 pounds.

    Greg's built like a gymnast. He could walk on mash potatoes. What is interesting about the "drag races" is how very seldom top-end speed is used in kayak angling. I suppose at the start in a tournament, you might want to race out to secure a location first; but, other than that, we all pedal around at a walking speed. At the front end of the video, all three of you can be seen pedaling out before the drag race . . . and you are pedaling at the same cadence, covering water at the same general speed. If a PA 14, a PDL and other pedalers were lined up with you? It'd be essentially the same thing . . . all moving along at a slow/medium or fast walking clip. My guess? The 10.5s will sell very well to customers wanting easier storage and for getting vessels to the lake and back home easier; the 12 will become the choice for competitive anglers, the 13.5 for the bass boat equivalency, guys who want to really carry out a lot of gear. Great video guys! Brad

    I’d love to see a follow up and a category I feel you missed: paddling. I feel like the 13.5 would probably be the slowest given it’s width and weight. But maybe not for a big guy with a long paddle. I’m currently in a Slayer 10 and am thinking of upgrading but my Native dealer doesn’t currently have a Titan 12. Thanks for the content. Maybe I’ll stop by when I visit my brother in Pleasant Hill next month.

    JUst bought a Native Titan 10.5. Three trips out on the water and my rudder cable already snapped. The cable on my Propel 10 lasted 4 years before it broke. Three weeks is ridiculous and I suspect they put too small a cable in this heavier boat. The set screw design at the steering handle is not good. It is sawing through the cable every time that you turn the boat.

    • @HeadwatersKayak
      @HeadwatersKayak  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree after using it for a while, it needs to be upgraded. NAtive is aware and working on an updated system. It may not be as fast as some of us would like, but it will happen soon.

    the thing is making the guy in the titan 10.5...., to fishing and casting stand up is possible to do it with the slayer 10...., the titan is amazing but is a big diference in the weight beetween both...., i can put the slayer alone on the top of the car but the titan is to much heavy for me......, can you fishing stand up on the small slayer like he do in the titan 10.5 or is a really big diference beetween both in the stability for that...
    wait for your answer.....

      @Ozzypup1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. They are very nice kayaks but very expensive. You could have a nice boat for what they cost. Most of the other people I ever see fishing on kayaks around my area have ones that cost less then $1000. Even the one I use is a vibe kayak that cost me under $800 brand new. And it does what I need it to do.

    • @cup_and_cone
      @cup_and_cone 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Keep in mind with higher end name brand kayaks they hold value extremely well, so you can resell them after a couple years and recoup a majority of your money and move on to something else. I see used Titans, Pro Anglers and Predators all selling for over 75% of their original cost all the time on Facebook marketplace and Craigslist. A lot of kayak shops also do financing now, so paying $100-250/mo is a lot more reasonable than a few grand upfront. A weekend kayak rental is $100+. If you're out on the water a few times a month, it financially makes sense to own.

Longer is better in the bay and ocean I do know that. Also Greg had his in big conditions at Kentucky Lake and he said it handled everything fine.

    Native or jackson pedal whick one would you pick

    • @HeadwatersKayak
      @HeadwatersKayak  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ohhh, tough call: they all have their strong suit. Old Towns system operated the smoothest, Native is the toughest (mostly made of metal), and Jackson is the best in shallow water. I guess it would depend on what kind of water I was in. Given that it’s summertime and I’m probably going to try to hit the ocean a lot, I think my top choice at the moment of the three options would be Old Town; specifically the salty because of its ocean friendly design.
