Great move having Greg officially endorsing your Kayaks. He has one of the best fishing channels on TH-cam and gives honest, informative feedback on the equipment he uses. If I were to get a Kayak for fishing, it would be a Native after watching him fish from them over the years.
@@dethrotjethro Sure. I went from a 2019 Hobie i11s with an MD180 drive to a 2016 Slayer Propel 10. I'm not a brand snob nor brand loyal. I actually wanted an Old town but found the Slayer like new for $800. However after my switch, I got a new appreciation for Hobie. Although I still think they can be overpriced. 1) The mirage drive is hands down better than the propel drive. It's compact, light, more efficient/less strenuous, weed free, virtually no drag when using my nk-180 motor to get from spot to spot, can be used in really shallow water and I've never gotten stuck on reeds, branches, vegetation etc. The only advantage the Propel drive has is instant reverse. I have lost fish with the mirage drive because I had to go forward and pull the reverse lever. 2) Natives up until 2022-2023 models, have been underdeveloped/bad design. The entire steering system for my 2016 slayer had to be upgraded. Oh bad factory design? Well Berley Pro has a $200 fix for this and this and that! I'd be very disappointed if I had to pay retail and then have to drop another $1000 on Berkey pro fixes to have a functional kayak. 3) The Hobie seat was extremely comfortable whereas the Native seat, not so much. Then again, the Hobie seat is overpriced at $500-700. Those are some of the reasons. I've had experience with both. I'm currently fishing out of the Native.
Safety, reliability and practicality, Greg's set-ups is achievable for the average guy and makes a lot of sense. Not having to drill this kayak is game changing as the wirings is already set, even the motors as you drill a plate instead. Keeps the integrity and resell value of the kayak!
My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. th-cam.com/users/postUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!

Marvin, we all knew you had some "PULL" with Native, after they made that Grey Ghost 'Yak for you! Lol Looks like a real BEAST, but what do I do with my 10.5 Titan? (Just got the Newport NV-180 motor/battery for it last week...!) Haha!

I bought a 2023 slayer max 12.5 because I've watched almost every video Greg has put out over the years on YT and patreon and I was really drawn to the native lineup based on watching him use it every week. Now that I own one, I know without a doubt it was the right decision and I'm totally in love. I'm going to pull the trigger and get into one of these, and I only found out about Native Watercraft because of Greg Blanchard, been watching that guy, very fun channel to watch!!
Nice to see you kept a pedal drive. Most others are not going this way with a dual motor setup. What's the top speed with a 3 HP electric motor like a 1103 Torqeedo are you getting?
Hi Keith! I'm with you and agree, love the propel drive even with the motor setup. Top speed with this fully loaded down ( ~150 lbs added gear/equipment) I'm topping out at 5.7 mph. It's the fastest the kayak I've owned so far with the motor which is impressive considering its size. -GB
Smart Native. Going out and getting a great guy to promote your product. Greg has the best fishing channel on TH-cam. Makes me want to make my 2nd kayak a native. Two thumbs up! Can’t wait to see more from I cast
Ordered mine yesterday, in Grey Goose. Probably install the 300 Newport 'Yak Motor on the stern. (Already have the Titan 10.6 with a 1.8 Newport Motor, and it's GREAT. 3.3 mph at 40% power - 105 Watts, gives me over 40 miles range with a 60 amp 24 v. battery). Already had people asking me if I want to sell my Titan 10.6...! Lol
Sounds like they fixed the only drawback that I didn't like about the Native Kayaks. The floor was always flooded. If they fixed it with a dry ride, id definitely consider it now as an option for a tournament kayak.
Whats a dry ride if you dont mind explaining? From one of the Beared Paddler's short videos,it sure looks like the floor still gets wet,and thats without a trolling motor!
Have a 2022 Titan 12. My only gripe is about the standing water on the deck. I’ll wait until this comes out to see if they fixed it. If they have, then I’ll buy one. If not…well…I have a leaky Titan 12 already, lol.
Great review and very nice kayak! This might finally be the one correctly made fishing kayak to get me out of my pos OT sportsman 120 PDL. Literally one of the best fishing kayaks out there now. Hobie needs to step it up! Still even relevant because of the name but not making any changes, yet continues to drive up the price. Can’t wait for my new titan!
We have not actually tried this yet, but it should work as there is a removable bucket and it has a sealed hatch. The bucket could be filled with ice. It is not fully insulated so the ice may melt quickly. Definitely something to try out though!
Wish it was available and priced without the Propel drive! Anyone want to buy a new unused drive, matter of fact I'll have two after I obtain this craft?
Ya, the seat pivots. Not sure how great of an idea that was. Why did they downgrade the plushness of the previous seat? Try not to fall in, or tip the boat when swiveling around on that seat. At 90 degrees, it will be sketchy.
Actually Greg was a skeptic at first and on day one he pulled into a tight little cove and wanted to cast a different direction, he swiveled and was sold. It’s super stable even with the seat sideways. I was hanging my feet in the water no problem. The swivel makes accessing all your gear super easy. The seat is actually super comfortable and a big one is that it is quiet.
That looks fantastic. Absolutely love my titan 12. Always said there isn’t a kayak out there that I’d switch to… then this came out haha. Might have to upgrade when this hits the market
OK, I have been wanting to purchase a new kayak, I have not even been looking at this one, Now The problem is this. Dang this looks so awesome. Thank you for taking the time to share this with us. Quick questions for someone new to looking at your kayaks, if you run into a submerged tree, will the peddle drive kick up so you don't damage it? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I live in Deep East Texas (Caddo Lake, Lake O The Pines, Nacaniche, Brandy Branch, and I could keep on, but they all have trees, deep wide and thick in the water) are and most of the lakes have submerged trees everywhere and it is a concern I have. Holy!!!! What a great looking kayak. And absolute power move having Greg endorse and review the boat. He is the man in the realm of kayak fishing. I need a native kayak asap. I’m sick and tired of my not so great bonafide.
That's very well thought out. I wish Old Town would take some queues from this for their AutoPilot. The AP has some of the worst storage organization (or lack thereof) of any kayak I've been in LOL
Yep for sure. We literally just put these first boats together just in time for the show. We did get one day on the water with Greg which you should start seeing around social media and the website. Once we crank out a few more I am sure we'll have tons of footage.
How well will thigh hull work on windy choppy PNW conditions inside of bay with tidal movement? Sorry for the generic abut I’m about to purchase my first Yak and this just made the list.
The concave hull of the now older Titan does help in stability, but not so much in speed. With the reveal of the Titan X, the hull does look similar to the current Slayer Max. Speed will be there for sure. Stability is now diminished, to a point. Just can't lean over too much.
@@DigitaLIon781 Ive had my titan 12 now for about 3 years I love it. I just want to have a faster hull speed with the new one. If not then maybe ill go PA360.
@@Austin_Torres Same. Have had the Titan 12 for 3 years as well. After closer inspection of the Titan X interior/deck, looks like internal water seepage will be at a minimum. That's my only complaint of mine, even with the minor mods needed to keep water out.
All fishing kayaks use barge/displacement hulls. They are not fast, they will never be fast, they are made for stability first and foremost. If you want to go fast get a real boat because a fishing kayak will never be both stable, and fast, physics has rules. The real issue with fishing kayaks is the insane pricing for recycled plastic boats, and the weight of them these days. They're both unaffordable for the average person, and way too heavy to regularly use without a trailer and a place to store the trailer. Might as well buy a jon boat which is the same price, faster, more stable, more storage, more passengers, and can go anywhere you would want to go in your kayak.
@@riverpirate1022I have a John boat. While those things you say are true. You still can’t enter a kayak fishing tournament with one. The plus side is I can have up to 2 people and a kid on it. Kayaks are or ally for solo people. They both have their pros and cons.
@@NativeWatercraftcan you explain the difference from durability/stability/weight and floatability? I thought your previous material was design feature to make the boat unsinkable
@@sejtan212 the durability, stability/ and weight are the same if not better. We hoped the material we used when we first started making the original Titan would allow us to make it lighter but that was never realized. It did add a small amount more floatation but not an amount significant enough to matter. We stopped using it a couple years ago.

That's very well thought out. I wish Old Town would take some queues from this for their AutoPilot. The AP has some of the worst storage organization (or lack thereof) of any kayak I've been in LOL
Welcome to the Native brand! 😉
Will there be any videos coming soon of the kayak in use?
Yep for sure. We literally just put these first boats together just in time for the show. We did get one day on the water with Greg which you should start seeing around social media and the website. Once we crank out a few more I am sure we'll have tons of footage.
Hey Native, can you send me a review model? Thanks!
How well will thigh hull work on windy choppy PNW conditions inside of bay with tidal movement? Sorry for the generic abut I’m about to purchase my first Yak and this just made the list.
Please tell me they added scupper holes to the back
They did
Can’t wait to see the speed numbers on this bad boy. Hope the new hull design would allow for a greater speed compared to the last one.
Is this new Titan a thermoformed or Rotomold?
It is rotomolded
@@NativeWatercraftcan you explain the difference from durability/stability/weight and floatability?
I thought your previous material was design feature to make the boat unsinkable
@@sejtan212 the durability, stability/ and weight are the same if not better. We hoped the material we used when we first started making the original Titan would allow us to make it lighter but that was never realized. It did add a small amount more floatation but not an amount significant enough to matter. We stopped using it a couple years ago.
thumbs up on the under-seat storage!!!
Can the foot steering be used to control the rudder? Hope so!!
I imagine and hoping that it would be a simple reconfigure of the cables?
@@fishntools Yes you could configure the steering cords to steer the rudder with your feet.
nice. the only thing i saw that i didnt like was the measuring board sitting up too high instead of flat on the deck.
Very awesome great job man 👍
Man, you guys had to put this out 3 weeks after I bought my slayer, max 12.5. I'm upset, lol. I would have bought this one instead
