Wow, Charlotte, that landscape painting evolved so beautifully! It was lovely watching your process and hearing you speak about how you start out trying to faithfully reproduce the source, and then step into letting go and making it yours. I am exactly the same! In trying to reproduce I do learn a lot about technique, and mixing colours, etc., but when I start letting go it feels like something magical is happening and I create space for myself to really show up. The other thing that I can really relate to is letting a painting sit for a while until I feel ready to work on it again. It feels like a part of my process, so I am just embracing that and allowing myself to have several pieces in different stages. It is actually kind of fun. Thanks for sharing about your day job and your yoga practice. I have not had a routine for a while but created a schedule for myself in December that has really made a huge difference in my productivity! Keep up the interesting videos - and Happy Painting!
I completely relate! I am starting to realize that letting paintings sit while I reflect can be the best thing for some of my pieces, and letting go while painting has been such a beautiful learning experience. Happy painting to you too!
