Hi Charlotte! Your painting with a woman and a cat looked just amazing with white textured background! Before adding colour. Maybe not sweet but very sophisticated in its minimalism :)
I really loved the work on these two paintings. Again, here you are saying you want the painting to look "sweet." I think this is a clue to your voice, which is why I recommended you watch The Cottage Fairy (maybe starting with some of her older videos). My opinion: The woman with mug and cat painting - I really liked when you started adding the two or three strokes of colour on the left side, as it brought some contrast. My opinion: I would have left the bold colour on the left, and made the background on the right really soft and ethereal. I think the woman and the cat were all you really needed in terms of focus. You seem to really be good doing faces and skin colouring, and you seem to go for paintings with people, so maybe just notice that. You are quite talented!
I understand the whole be loose leave brush strokes thing. But that painting is gorgeous! I am the same way it’s hard for me to not want to smooth things out
On the background I think of vivid color would be best applied. I would turn the painting upside down and apply it so if it ran or streaked it wouldn't run over the subject.
Yes! I've been experimenting with some different ways of painting, I usually do paint dark to light but for some reason I really struggle with acrylics and this made it a little easier for me. 😊

It's so nice to see you on TH-cam again and that you've had a strong start to the portfolio section. What canvases did you use? Thank you so much! 😊 I am so happy to be back! The canvasses I use are called "Level 3 Gallery Wrapped Heavy Duty Canvas by Artist's Loft". I buy them at Michaels but I believe they are only a US and Canada based company. (Although you may be able to use one of those shipment forwarding companies). They have really great value packs on their canvasses. For the gallery wrapped canvasses I usually buy a pack of six. So exciting that you are starting portfolio so soon!! Can't wait 🥰 Thank you so much!

You have a strong color palette, a general idea of the subjects you want to paint and you know you love mixed media! That’s a really great start I think 🥰
