One correction I wanna make is that that costume isn’t directly based on Sora’s KH1 design. It is actually based on his Limit Form from KH2, which is in of itself a reference to his appearance in KH1.

On top of that, the Kingdom Key’s colors in the Donald, Goofy, Riku and Kairi skins are references. Donald and Goofy both get the Kingdom Key D, Mickey’s Keyblade in KH2. The Kairi skin gets a color based on her Keyblade, Destiny’s Embrace, while the Riku skin gets one based on the Keyblade of People’s Hearts from Kingdom Hearts 1.
and his appearance in KH1 is based off of Mickey Mouse. Yellow Shoes, Red Shorts, White Gloves.

Blows my mind how Goku had zero outfit references when he had multiple outfits throught the history of the entire series.
He's gonna get then in a future update, the remaining characters without references / costumes just need an overhaul to their sprites to be compatible with the system they currently use for costumes, as of right now we know Sheik Zelda and MK are getting some next update, maybe goku too but we dont know yet.

I've seen someone online compare Peach's Blue/White Costume with one of the characters from RWBY
2:20 I know this costume is in a lot of smash mods or mainline games but something nobody has ever mentioned is that this is also one of the possible appearences in luigi's mansion dark moons scarescraper mode.
Some reason people confuse it with the anime look of Luigi and now I'm sure it's from Dark Moon

I'm a little surprised that you didn't cover Ganondorf's sword changing to match from the sword of sages to the claymore he wields in Smash Ultimate/that one GameCube tech demo.

I think the tanner skin on Ryu's Yellow costume could be a reference to Sean from Street Fighter 3. It's nice to see fan games put in this level of effort as well since stuff like Sonic and Pac-Man getting more interesting colors than the official titles might be allowed to have is nice. The retro costumes are neat too.

Fun fact: Waluigi isn't the only character that gets alt colors for his items! Other characters get this treatment too! This includes (but isn't limited to)...
• Mario's Luma in his Mario Tornado
• Peach's Toad
• Captain Falcon's Blue Falcon ( _typically_ matching the vehicle of the racer the costume is based on)
• Tails' blaster, and the boxing glove in his down smash
• Ichigo's Hollow mask in his up/down taunt
Again, these are only the items that change for every alt AND don't just simply share the palette of the fighter. There's items for other characters that get recolored only for specific costumes (e.g. In his Dark Pit costume, Pit's bow, arrows, and Upperdash Arm get recolored to Dark Pit's Smash appearance).
Oooh I didn't know the Captain Falcon or Tails ones. I've also heard Ganon has a different sword in some costumes to match some characters.

Tails and Ryu referencing playable characters in Smash Bros. Crusade is an extremely cool way to tie these Smash Fangames together. Even if its just by coincidence.
12:31 I personally think the purple Jigglypuff is based on a technical oversight in the introduction to Pokémon Blue which depicted Jigglypuff as Purple to have a similar color scheme to her foe, Gengar
Also the Green Samus Alt is based on the MS-06 Zaku II from Gundam
I love Ichigos costumes because he is the best character in this game and I love the cloud and kenshin references here.
But I do think cloud would join the roster at some point but I think crono deserves it aswell.
I can relate to Meta Knight not in this vid. Most of the costumes are SSF2/Smash originals, but some alternative costumes in Ultimate pay homage to Galacta/Aeon Hero and Dark Meta, respectively. A few more costumes I think would fit him would be Morpho Knight, seeing how he's officially canon, and the Light and Dark Aeon Hero forms respectively.
You should totally do every stage reference in SSF2
red kirby could also be a referance on how he looked with fire in superstar (but red kirby could also be what its based on) orange kirby can also be a referance to the orange spraypaint just like black and purple
the yellow bandana dee could be a referance to player 2 (i think) in rainbow curse
4:22 The black shell and largely gold theme remimds me a bit of DIO, especially his Part 3 design. Funny, as both have tormented a European with seemingly endless stairs.. and in the Part 3 OVA, Mario's VA has a cameo role.

the thirdshadow layer of Sandbag's Orange costume is basically equal to the color in the borders of the "FLASH" on SSF2's logo
the secondshadow layer of Sandbag's yellow costume is basically equal to the color in the middle of the "FLASH" on SSF2's logo
the first shadow layer on Sandbag's black costume is basically equal to the color in the top-middle of the "SUPER" on SSF2's logo
Sandbag's last costume (the one with inverted colors) is likely a reference to Sandbag's final smash itself, the other sandbag ones were huge stretches but this one i'm pretty confident about
