@Israel Soares Cunha I know but it could still be a reference. Especially since this is a fan project and may pull from more than just the games. It could not be a reference to the Archie Sonic but I thought it was worth pointing out nonetheless
Also, 11:52 the monochrome Wario might be a dual reference since it could also be referring to Wario Land, a series that debuted on the monochromatic Gameboy
The fact the Conker actually got in still blows my mind. It might not be official, but I'll take that half win any day!
Honestly, that's the only reason to try this hack out, since it's pretty much the only thing exclusive to this hack. That, and mad piano, I guess.
If smash was rated M. There could've been the exaggerated blood effects from bfd.
I mean, this is a fan creation, they seem to have more creative leigh way with characters to put into it whereas if it were official, Nintendo would have to negotiate with Rare to put him in which probably requires a lot of paperwork and contracts. With fan creations that are free, anything is possible.
I'm honestly still hoping they add in Banjo & Kazooie to complete the N64 Rareware Duo!

9:56 "Unlicensed Doctor" is a reference to the Tezuka manga Black Jack. The title character, Kurō Hazama is a surgeon known for operating without a license and wears a black coat and his given name, Kurō , literally translates to "black". There is no other reason that title would be given specifically to a black costume. It's just like how Captain Falcon got his Falcon Punch and Falcon Kick from Kamen Rider.
Also similar to how Samus' Smash original green color scheme has been referred to as "mass produced Samus" as a reference to the Gundam series; Sakurai loves his sneaky anime/manga references.

the purple party hat on Pikachu could actually be a reference to Project M's party hat Pikachu alt, which was made purple

I think it would be cool if there was a white or rainbow alternate for super sonic, so it could be hyper sonic.

Well, modders are typically free to do whatever they want (so long as they aren't touching Pokemon), Nintendo has to follow the guidelines other companies give them to put characters in their games. A good example of this is how Super Smash Flash has anime characters, fanart characters, and even Mr. Incredible.

4:49 Technically Ness does appear in Mother 3, but not in person. In New Pork City, there is a theater that shows certain scenes from EarthBound via a projector. Ness and his companions are present there.
Well, since he's doing fan-made Smash content, I guess it'll make sense for him to do either Crusade or Smash Flash 2 next. Although SSF2 still has characters who currently use color filters instead of actual palettes (namely DK, Zelda/Sheik, Meta Knight, Fox, Falco and Goku), I'd still love to see a video on it since its costume selection is pretty varied with some neat tidbits
I really love that they gave sonic justice in this game. His colors are amazing. His move pool has been mixed around so he's not just a ball all the time. And you can play as super sonic ANY TIME. This is hands down one of the greatest smash mods of all time- TOPPED ON by the fact that you can ACTUALLY play it on an n64.... incredible.
There was also a Blue Metal Mario, as well as a Gold Mario, costume in Mario Golf 64 so those could be references there as well
Blue Metal Mario especially using the option to make the character darker really reminds me of Shadow Mario from Super Mario Sunshine and I love that honestly
For Marth's section, just a quick game factoid: The Green and Red costumes also represent the coloring of neutral and enemy units in the Fire Emblem series up until the 3ds titles.
Couple of missing tidbits for you:
- It's rumored that Falcon's red + white costume is supposed to be 'Canadian' Falcon, with red + white being Canada's primary flag colors. I love how you tied it to Octoman, tho. Maybe The Skull, also?
- Pikachu + Jigglypuff's gross-looking green costumes, while found in the game's files, could also be a reference to the ridiculous amount of green Shiny Pokémon in the earlier generations.
- Falco had a black costume in _Brawl,_ too. Granted, he had a brown jacket instead of a gray one.
- Dr. Mario's green costume could also be linked to the Game Boy version of _Dr. Mario._
- All those costumes for Wario that you said were from _Mario Tennis,_ despite using pics that are from _Mario _*_GOLF..._*
- Bowser's model is moreso from Mario Party 1 - 3. He even has a victory pose as a Mario Party reference.
- Wolf's blue costume could be linked to his _Brawl_ appearance.
- Love how you absolutely NAILED every single one of Sonic's costume references! For Super Sonic, however, if we're linking him to DBZ, then maybe the red + blue costumes could also reference Super Saiyan Red and Super Saiyan Blue? The white costume is also a reference to Hyper Sonic from _Sonic 3 & Knuckles._

It could also be a reference to the Mastered Ultra Instinct, but if we're being fair... Hyper Sonic came first, so yeah...
@@wolfherojohnson2766 I know that. I prefer saying 'Super Saiyan Red' since they started using color code to avoid the mouthful of saying 'Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan' for Super Saiyan Blue. Just staying consistent.

Warios monochrome costume is based off of his first debut in super Mario world 6 golden coins and his first playable game debut

The green alt for Sonic gives me Scourge vibes rather than Vector vibes.
For those who don't know, Scourge is a Sonic from a different universe where the good guys were bad guys, and the bad guys were good guys. Why his fur is green and not blue is because when he tried to use the Master Emerald, he was knocked down by an echidna. Due to his transformation being disrupted, his fur was permanently green from then on.
As the person who made the alt, not a single design cue was taken from any incarnation of scourge. It is a purely vector alt

Modern Sonic's green costune might reference Vector, but it might also be a reference to Scourge the Hedgehog from the Sonic Comics
It could also be Jet the Hawk from Sonic Riders.
Or Asura, a glitch color set in sonic 2 (?), Which in turn both inspired scourge, but also Surge the Tenrec, of IDW Sonic, which would be the most current and official series of comics after the Archie series was discontinued.

I actually think the blue and red tunics for Young Link could be a reference to the Color Dungeon tunics in Link's Awakening DX, especially because of the more saturated hue!

Just wanted to comment and say that I really love these costume origin vids youve been putting out. I just really love learning about different references of gaming history that is put into each costume.
I like how the classic Sonic version of Knuckles has the slightly pink hue from his cutscene palette/PAL boxart design!

The Colors of Super Sonic being based off of the 7 Chaos Emeralds is a really nice touch but Super Sonic having a Legendary Super Sonic Skin just like in PMEX Remix is amazing af
8:46 This is especially ironic because aside from Spirit Tracks where Dark Link is a mirror of Twoon Link, Dark Links are all based on the teenage/adult Links.
The White one for the Polygon Team could reference to the Heralds skin for all the fighters in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3.
Metal Mario's blue costume comes from Mario Golf for the N64 as an alternate color for Metal Mario. That includes his Gold color too.
I think Bowser more resembles how he looks in the N64 Mario Party titles. It sure looks like he was taken from Mario Party 3, especially when you see the "sexy Bowser" victory pose.
Also the Jet Black Variant of Bowser is a possible reference to his original concept design which was a Ox originally, which the recolor looks quite similar.

If I made Conker’s costumes [I would make them a recolor + a hat (kinda like Pikachu and Jigglypuff)]:
1-default
2-berri colors + berri inspired wig
3-conker twelve tales colors + cowboy hat
4-Uga Buga colors + Uga Buga hat
5-squirrel high command army soldiers + it’s war helmet
6-neo conker colors + sunglasses
7-professor Von Kriplespac + alien armor helmet

Now I kind of wonder what the chances of actually finding a Shiny Mewtwo is. It's rare enough to find one in the first place, so finding a Shiny version would be next to impossible.
It's surprisingly simple. Mewtwo is a set encounter, so if the Mewtwo isn't shiny, reset the game and start the encounter again.
I didn’t think finding the rarest of Pokémon required the simplest of solutions.

Most Super Sonic's alternate colors are references to Dragon Ball when you think about it:
Blue Super Sonic can be reference to Super Saiyan Blue
Green Super Sonic can be a reference to Legendary Super Saiyan which you mentioned
Red Super Sonic and be a reference to Super Saiyan God
Purple Super Sonic could be a reference to Super Saiyan Rosé if his colors was more pink
Magenta Super Sonic can be a reference to Goku's Ultra Instinct

I always thought Bowser’s design in this was based off of his look in Mario Party. One of his taunts even has his laugh from Mario Party.

I get the feeling if Mother 3 is ever officially localized, the Magypsies will be completely removed ,Kumatora will be renamed Taiga, and the game will be renamed to Earthbound: Endings.
Kumatora's name would be the same and you can't remove the Magyspies since they're important to the plot.

Red Mewtwo is also possibly inspired by Pokemon Stadium. Some pokemon would change colors if you nicknamed them, and Red Mewtwo was one of the variants.

I was thinking at first that Captain Falcon's red and white color scheme was based on Phoenix, one of the racers who debuted in F-Zero AX before he was unlockable in GX, but Phoenix's color scheme is largely black and white with only the inside of his cape being red. It would have been fitting for Captain Falcon to have that costume in Smash, though.
As for Sonic's yellow modern color scheme, it could also be a reference to Super Sonic rather than just Tails. They are both yellow-colored, after all.

More of the Super Sonic colors might be Dragon Ball references, the Blue one appears to be the same shade as super saiyan blue, the light pink one might be a super saiyan rose reference. The red one is more of a stretch but it could be a super saiyan god reference or it also could be a reference to Fire Sonic from Super Mario Bros Z since he's a similar shade of red.

We never see her like that in BotW as she is an old woman in it. One notable thing about the green Pikachu ist also the fact, that it's also the logo for the German Pokémon wikia, the Pokéwiki. But it's probably just a neat coincidence.
Honestly the yellow DK kinda looks like a golden oozaru/golden great ape from DBGT(Dragon Ball GT) and the giant DK's yellow is a even more clear reference

The white dk skin is based off of donkey Kong country returns I think, white dk appears when you watch the tutorial bot play though the level

20:15 actually it was confirmed that Bean is a duck because Sega said that he was the son of one of the Dynamite Ducks (an old Sega game) and he’s even referred to as a duck in the Archie comics.
It's a common misconception to think bean Is a woodpecker so I don't blame him
About super sonic. Yes Sega did say that super sonic and the chaos emeralds were based off of Dragon Ball, and also I think you’ll find that magenta/white costume is more of a reference to Hyper Sonic.

Conkers 2nd ult is might be based on Berrys look from conkers pocket tales for the game boy, as berry used to look like conker but with long hair.
