Just remains over rev 7k rpm. A little detail that both MkI(the video) and MkII (what Miles raced), after 7k rpm, the engine warning light turns up, that because there's risk of blow up the engine, however some GT40 races didn't cared at all and used it as a tacometer
It’s a rare privilege see an original GT40 being driven to the absolute limit with style and panache. The whole drama of it all is like a gorgeously wild dangerous animal on the loose. It’s very clear to see what a formidable foe Ford were to Ferrari, Porsche, Lola and Chapparal. That ‘perfect lap’ that the late Ken Miles spoke of, this is it.
He looked like he was right on the edge the whole way around the track. Looked like he was on the very brink of losing control. Which of course is how you're supposed to do it. That was amazing!
At the limit, sliding around every corner, newer cars/motorbikes etc are faster but much less entertaining and back then, the driver/rider mattered more. Gave up on F1 years ago, yawnfest.
@@free2roam674I hope years ago was the turn of the century, or maybe the late eighties, because it's been a car plus driver thing since the MP4/4 at least, and it's not like Schumacher was driving boats.
@@goobingtonsI followed closely when our Canadian star Gilles Villeneuve was competing but enjoyed it until Ayrton Senna passed. Since then I have not watched a single race. GT40s are beasts! Guys who can plug into them and keep them on that edge surely get unique rewards. Imagine wrangling these for a 12 or 24-hour (!) race... That's serious talent. The cars and their champion drivers are well-deserved, hard-earned legends. So incredible to even watch.
So nice to see at least one of these cars doing what it was meant too and not locked in a garage under cover as another asset in some millionaires portfolio
Not sure if you're into games or not but Gran Turismo 7 has VR that makes these experiences as close to the real thing that we have. I don't play any other "game" but I do like to race and with VR I can get just a glimpse of what it'd be like at Greenwood with this magnificent machine. What a beast of a car, big American n/a V8 vs the world. Enzo had no idea of the beehive he kicked one day over 50 years ago that led to creating this machine.
Great to see, now imagine a long night stint, with traffic, at Le Mans in that monster. Respect to Flash and the men who raced these things for 24 hours!
WOW... I'd be a nervous wreck.. nothing like sawing at the wheel and throwing around a multi million super RARE piece of motoring history. Just wow....
Wow.... that was super impressive. He handled that left-front split-second lockup (at 0:58) like a boss! (another commenter said this was a suspension bottom-out, so I could be wrong). Either way, this video is a keeper! Incredible job Gordon!
¡Ésto sí es rendirle culto a la velocidad...! Un piloto de verdad acelerando a ese GT 40....¡un lujo placentero verlos a ambos.! Piloto y máquina luciéndose.... ¡Muchas gracias...!
Look at that beauty flat out through the corners .....all it needs is a Ferrari LM in its rear view mirror...what a beautiful thing ....wheres Ken to see this ❤❤❤
Classic race cars are the embodiment of turn left to go right. They're practically steered with the throttle! Wonder what kinds of laps these cars could pull with some modern suspension and tires
It’s wonderful to see these valuable historic cars driven the way they were built for. Modern technology lets the generation of our time experience how these cars pushed the limits during their times.
Its so refreshing to hear the music of the engine and not some overused song!!! There is nothing like the sound of a well tuned V8.... Especially a Ford V8!!!
Flash and that GT40 in perfect harmony
proper car. proper driver.

Dancing on greasy tires. The car loves it

That boy was wringing it's little neck.....loved that suspension bottoming puff of smoke on the straightaway bump. AWESOME!!
I love that in this modern age we can still witness these absolutely wonderful machines being thrashed!
Need to share a link to the Kenny Brack rain-dance in the GT40 from aboot 5 years ago... THAT was a master class!
That sound is FLAWLESS & the driving is GREAT!!!
Great driver, awesome car. That four wheel lateral drift exiting that last right hand turn was super cool! 😎
A proper showcase of just how much of a weapon this car is! Brilliant!
This dude alone is more entertaining than the entire F1 industry
I'd rather watch golf or paint dry than watch F1!
Absolutely correct! You can add Formula E to that also! It will be the death of motor sports! When they start ENascar, I will give it up!!
