There's a computer or two in there somewhere. This car's got a rev limiter (and not just a basic "now you have spark, now you don't" type). Vintage GT40 rev limiter was valve float or putting a rod through the block.
Don’t change a thing - this is what us gearheads have wanted for the longest time: great machine, great driver, ability to hear/see/feel what we can through this medium without stupid self promotion or obnoxious music over the entire video. Cheers
The film of the blue GT40 racing into the dark and wet is the first time I've seen an onboard bthat looked like racing in the wet as I know, i.e. great handfuls of lock, cars all over the shop, on off on off.
What a beast. She's dancing on her toes all the time whether under power or brakes, so good to watch as well. You can see what it's like when your following that Red GT40. Off to see what other video's you have cause this was just great.
There is something so majestic about the sound the v8, the blue light shining over the instrument cluster, working the steering wheel as the race track rushes by out side. These GT40's belong out on the track.
"What a car"...I mean It's nearly 60 years old and it looks as if it would beat just about any car today and make the most glorious sound whilst doing it :)
Loving it all! For those that don't know, the owner has the original but races a Gelscoe motorsport GT40 recreation at these events, from what I understand. I've seen this race at goodwood, it's absolutely nuts.
He probably also races the original one as well, most likely at more important races where: (a) organizers only admit originals, or (b) the original isn't ready... Looking at the pictures, it's very hard to spot the visual differences between the original and the Gelscoe replica, as they both were painted in the same livery.

For most curves it felt that it was going out of it, one of the most exhilarating cockpit car laps I have ever seen. The ending shots are pure gold. Also nice that at the end it shows outer angles, during the video I couldn’t help but think that “my cars and driving skills DO NOT turn at all like that” (newbie here, that is). And lo and behold, the slip angle on some turns are delightfully extreme. What a joy to see.
I was lucky enough to inspect one of the original GT40 race cars. I was amazed at how small it was and obviously light and fragile. The fellows driving them at 205 mph had to be the bravest of the brave.
omg, knowing that modern F1 cars can take Eau Rouge flat out, and seeing the GT40 have to lift so massively makes me think it must be absolutely terrifying to drive. this man makes up for lack of downforce with giant balls.
Just three and a half minutes and I'm left breathless, I cannot begin to imagine being a driver of this incredible machine at Le Mans back in 1966! Well done Enzo for being so arrogant and egotistical because it not only resulted in the GT40 but also Lamborghini cars!
Actually, an internal combustion engine is actually an air pump used in reverse. Together with its intake and exhaust systems it is actually more like a wind instrument. That's why certain cars and engines sound a certain way. A mustang always sounds like a mustang, a Corvette always sounds like a Corvette. It's all about the sum total of their parts; how they are built and tuned. A car is a work of art, it's engine a musical instrument.
Wow. White Shelby lapped like 3x lol…I appreciated how busy your hands were on the steering wheel. A constant response to the feedback u were getting from the car as you kept it on the most aggressive race line. Pure perfection
Wow talk about an experience. I could even imagine the feeling of a GT-40 on track but it's amazing I can get a bit of the music, thrill and experience through TH-cam. Awesome content, SUBSCRIBED 🇺🇲❤️👌
Ever since forza introduced me to these behemoths I’ve fallen in love. I just love all of the gt40s with a passion, even if they have stopped adding the 40 to em
Watching the drive on this qualification lap just shows you how much harder it is to drive a car back then compared to the way the new cars are set up for a much easier effort. I would love to see a 1 to 2 hour film of racing during the race. Somewhat like the film LeMans by Steve McQueen.
