I like European and Japanese cars best but no doubt when it comes to American old school muscle cars reign supreme in fact even as a kid I loved old school muscle cars just as much as late 90s early 2000s tuner cars. The late 60s early 70s muscle cars are my favorite.
I know this isn’t nascar. But if nascar stayed this course it would’ve been way better to watch. And we’d all have the best cars from the competition it produced.
Yeah as a European I’m not too well versed in Nascar but it does seem like a big shame they went away from real cars in favor of spec-cars with no room for development. Having an equal playing field has its advantages in terms of competition but personally I’d prefer watching manufacturers going crazy and cars having an identity beyond simply the number on it and the driver driving it. And as you said it would make for very cool road cars too, surely.
Great filming Alwin. Roger and Beat also go to the Spa Summer Classic event. This year's was held end of April but sadly both did not get to compete this year due to problems with the cars.
@@colinlane9338 Thank you for the kind words! Yeah I was there in Spa, really excited to film both those cars and was absolutely gutted that they didn't get any further than a few laps. That's racing though. Thankfully this weekend I got to enjoy watching them both despite the weather!
Jets shake the ground more than a Hemi... until you put that Hemi on nitro. Truly the only thing more thunderous than a top fuel launch is a big rocket launch. But those are making literally as much power as the electric grid of a couple states.
@fuselpeter5393 No. I'm saying that you can see it rips the corners, which is a very long way from the stock one. It must have taken a lot of good work.
I have a modern Mustang, and I’m not normally a classic muscle car guy, but that is the best sounding car I’ve ever heard. It sounds like a P-51 mustang with the Merlin engine when it’s going away.
Well, If you got a 351 or smaller, and do away with some smog stuff. It can sound like it. A cheap way, is have your Muffler shop cut in a bypass gate you can open and close, and some side pipes(Or not). Back in the day had a Jeep CJ5 with a 304 V8. Ordered a side pipe kit and bullet mufflers. Had so much fun, drove the neighbors crazy, till I started loosing my Hearing.. Bought regular mufflers
Yeah the Firebird has a 496 running about 730 horsepower. Coupled with some very wide slicks that thing is rapid. I’m uploading the video of it later today!

Maybe the greatest Challenger I've ever seen ! Wow What a Beauty and a Monster ! LOVE IT !
Beautiful looking classic with some serious modifications. They say "rubbing is racing" but I bet there's no "rubbing" with these! Love seeing the old stuff thanks for sharing.
Yeah the racing in the YTCC is very respectful. The series is more oriented around fun and the love for cars and racing than coming first. They will still race hard and be competitive but not to the point of coming together. Thanks for watching!
I could watch this on a regular basis. So cool to see these old cars out and about. Getting it done. These were the cars I drove when I grew up in the 70s. I remember watching the Trans Am series. The racing was intense and right on the ragged edge. Fun to watch. I bet it took steel nerves to drive them.
I wish I could go back in time to experience 60s and 70s Trans-Am racing. I'm very jealous you got to watch that and drive some of these muscle cars back in the day. Traveling to events that race cars like this Challenger is the best alternative for me :)
@@AlwinSV I still own two of them. I own a 1970 Challenger 340. And a 1970 GTX 440-6 barrel. I bought the Challenger in 1979 and the GTX in 1981. I could never get rid of my cars. I also own an 88 Conquest TSI and a 91 Strealth TT. Last car I bought I bought in 09. An 09 Challenger R/T with the STP package. I just could never give up the cars I bought because I really liked them and I always financed them. And that took years to pay off each one. Always wanted a Viper GTS but never got one. Regret that. people who never been on a track can't imagine how loud these cars are. when they are comming up they are already loud as hell but when they pass you on a straight with high rpm and you can hear the sound straight out the exhaust they litterally shatter your eardrumps while you're covering them.
Yeah you hit the nail on the head. Videos will never do the sound justice but the car managed to rearrange my organs everytime it came past. People who have never experienced this can’t imagine what it’s like and think the sound is rather quiet because their speakers cannot compare to real life 😅
Ahhhhh, YES!!! Reminds me of the Old Pony Car Wars. When Camaro's, Firebird's, T/A Challenger's, AAR Cuda's, and Mustang's Battled Ferociously in the American Trans Am Series of Racing.....Until they tossed a Detuned Corvette into the mix and they dominated the Sport. Trans Am was shortly shut down. All because GM was Crying for Wins!!! Pony Car Wars are for the Pony Cars to Battle !!! Not an Out-Classed Non-Pony Car to Race within that Series. People stopped watching!! Gorgeous Challenger T/A!!!! God Bless!!!
The best sounds from these things (for me anyway) are actually when they're far away. The driver jumps on it and you can hear the sound spread out and echo around every structure on the track...it sounds like the heavens are being torn open so God can look down and say, "that is a badass car."
Would to make a modern rendition of this one with the new generation Challenger T/A. Rollcage, make a sequential gearbox for it, maybe similar engine setup, but around 500, while also being street-legal! Love that car man its awesome AND American!

Amazing how early 70's American musclecars still look more badass than modern junk. Trans Am and Challenger look menacing.

The oldschool body with modern mechanics makes this musclecars extremely aggressive. It's good to see that 😎

Young guys may not believe this, but in the 80's we built street cars like this. The only thing legal on it (questionable) was plates and tags.
Those downshifts are pure evil, but I can’t help but imagine how much fuel a 9.4L capacity engine burns through in a race.
