  • The ice dispenser in the door of my Samsung refrigerator modem RF4287HABP quite working. The water dispenser continued to work fine. This video details how I troubleshooted the issue and fixed it.

    This was the fix for my fridge! Seems so silly that a tiny plastic piece would require complete replacement of the whole apparatus but so it goes. And holy smokes, it took all my might to pull that panel off in the beginning!

      @b.dobalina Glad to hear you were able to fix it yourself! And yeah - dumb plastic piece should have been stronger. The panel can surly stick, can’t it! lol

    Thank you! Very excellent video and exactly what I needed. I purchased the amazon unit for 70.00. Many postings on the amazon thread indicate the unit wiring is backwards - meaning the ice paddle dispenses water and vice versa (this was the case with mine - I opted to leave the unit in place). Removal was just as you stated - I put on leather gloves and gained better grip and avoided cuts. The removal of the plastic unit from the metal was a hammer job!
    Also, learned I should have removed the plastic protective covering on the paddles when the unit was on the bench instead of wrestling with the plastic covering inside the tight confines of the dispensing cove.

      @CREGGOHH I’m glad the video was helpful to you! I have learned that same ‘remove the plastic while you have easy access’ lesson many times too! Hindsight is always 20/20!

    Very well done video. Some of the Icons have gone out on my display panel and I have a used spare that I will replace it with, same model. Thanks You!

    Outstanding tutorial. I believe I can do it now. My model is a little different, but the process is the same.

      I’m glad the video helped you out! I’m sure you can do it. I’ve heard from others who surprised themselves when they were able to do it themselves. Nothing beats that feeling!

      @@DougForce got the aftermarket paddles and replaced the whole thing in about 30 minutes. It was very hard to pull the panel out and I also used a hammer to knock the old dispenser loose. The replacement works great. Thanks again.

    Hi, Doug. It is now June 18, 2022 - about a year after you made this great video. My Exact same model Samsung had it’s ice maker stop delivering ice, even though the Ice Mater was making Ice. And to top it off, the LED display was, over time, missing complete LED’s and Parts of LEDs. I began researching the problem and ran into your very well done video. I then suspected the ice delivery switch (like you showed) was either bad, ore the plastic lever to activate the switch button was broken. And since my LED panel also had a problem, I went to Amazon and found the exact model Complete control panel with switches. Unlike you did pulling it out, I had to use a thin putty knife to extract the display. After replacing the whole unit, and resetting it like you showed, the ice is now coming down again, and all the LED displays are working again. Thank you very much for your video. Regards, Tom

    Doug, great how to fix for the Samsung, just finished doing the same repair with the help of your video. Watch a lot of videos on this repair and this one you made is the best on the web and broke it down step by step. And bye the way I had to use a hammer, the rubber mallet just would not move it. Thanks again.

      @@DougForce Yes it was, but it had been in the fridge since we bought it back 2010.

    • @DougForce
      @DougForce  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mikecook6603 Yeah, they get kinda stuck over time. I was surprised how much gunk collects in and around the inaccessible areas but I guess that normal for a water dispenser.

    • @mikecook6603
      @mikecook6603 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DougForce Yea they do, but you would think the water filter installed in side the fridge would take care of the gunk.

      @Alejandra If I’m understanding it sounds like you need to press and hold the Ice Off button for 3 or 4 seconds…. Have you tried that?
