Out of all the videos I spent looking for a solution to my problem which took about 2 days. I finally found someone who can actually put a video where I can see how I can fix my problem without all the ads or jargon; where someone just talks and tells you what to do. KUDOS to you for putting a video that should have been put up the year in which the model was made. Sheesh.

By chance, was your problem a leaking water dispenser?
Bought a house, has a Samsung french door with water/ice. The water drips. It isn't under warranty. And there are no service people nearby. I'm mechanically inclined. Thinking I can make the swap with the assistance of this great video!

I just completed this yesterday thanks to this informative video. Only thing I would suggest is to try replacing the top unit first. I bought both units but the first swap fixed the issue and that fix literally takes 5 minutes tops!! Quoted $500 to fix, unit cost me $150 and 5 minutes. (Could have saved 100 bucks though on the other water valve I bought but hey, it is in and done..Thanks so much for a video you can actually watch and follow.

Thanks for the video. I only replaced the ice maker and it worked. I didn't do the valve.
My refrigerator was made in 2011 and I really struggled to get the ice maker out. I used a flathead screwdriver to hold the clip down and then I put the claw end of a hammer into the slot underneath and pulled on it gently. I couldn't get it out with my bare hands.
One note -- the wire harness *barely* was long enough. I actually had to force it. The tension is really high and it does concern me a bit but I guess it should never move. I think some of the replacement parts vary just a hair.

This was very helpful! I couldn't figure out how to get the hoses off the bottom of the water inlet valve and I didn't want to break them. I would never have guessed to push the rings down. Thanks!

Thank you so much for this great video. I have been trying to troubleshoot my ice maker for the last two weeks with absolutely no help from Samsung other than them telling me to hit the reset button. After watching this video for 5 minutes I was able to remove the component and diagnose the issue as locked up ice in the ice maker. A few seconds with a hair dryer and the ice was released from the unit and I was back up and running.

I’ve been looking for a video that helped me take the ice maker out and you are the only one who explains this. So to anyone who has been experiencing something similar to my issue here’s the solution; my ice maker started spewing out water so we took the back panel inside the fridge off and using a baster we poured water down to defrost. That solved that issue but now my ice maker wasn’t working. After watching this video I Took the little panel of inside the ice maker and there was iced frozen all over the wires. I used a hairdryer to melt most the ice in I’ll it would brake off, then I pulled the ice maker out to make sure it wasn’t frozen inside, it wasn’t. After that I put it back together and finally my ice maker started working again

Isabele Salazar Isabelle I have a similar issue. The ice dispenser dispenses water. There is no noise or movement to dispense ice although there is ice in the bucket. I thought maybe the solenoid was burned out. Thank you for your description. I will try your solution first as it costs nothing!

Great video! Thank you for sharing.
I’m having issues with my ice maker working, and then not, for sometimes months at a time? And then out of no where it starts up again on its own (it didn’t work for 4 months)?! Could this be something to do with my water line?
My water dispenser has never been an issue, the ice maker has been an ongoing issue about 9 months after purchasing it.

Great video! I replaced the ice maker unit, water inlet valve, cleaned the condenser coils of dust, replaced the water filter and had defrosted the refrigerator for ice in evaporator due to burned out fan. Still no ice. Does dispense water normally. What else can it be?

Thank you. I don't know why my icemaker stopped making ice. However yesterday I followed your instructions, took it apart and made sure it was thoroughly defrosted. I then put it back together and it started making ice. This morning the ice bucket was full. I've tried your websites, unfortunately, neither worked. I will try to call your number. If it recurs, I would buy my parts from you due to your help in troubleshooting. Thank's again.

Hello my friend and thanks for the video, I need some help. I bought a brand new ice maker for a bunch of money to me anyway, over a $100 and it's making ice but it just sits there, it never drops into the bucket. I thought this would fix it and my wife would stop bugging me about it, but replacing the unit failed. Any idea what i'm missing and what could be causing this.

@@mstang61 I did not, replaced the ice maker as whole like I posted but it just sits there. Been a rough year so I just left it. I keep reading maybe pressure problems so sometime in the near future I may run a full copper tube to the back and get rid of the cheapo tap and plastic line to the supply.

Hey, Tri City, thanks for your excellent video, which I referenced extensively.
I would like to append my experience to your video.
Why don't I make my own video? Because, 1) I don't know how to make a video, and 2) I only have 2 hands and most video makers obviously have 3 hands.
    Symptoms 1:
    1. Our 6 yo ice maker stopped dispensing ice. Auger motor tried to run but auger would not turn, suggesting things frozen inside ice box.
    2. Could not remove ice tray from ice room, suggesting ice tray frozen to ice room.
Attack 1: Used hair drier to thaw ice room, bad idea, took several hours and warped the ice house walls. The material used
is thermo plastic, not thermo setting, and even a hair drier on low deforms the room walls.
Removed ice maker. noticed that water was dripping from filler hose, meaning fill valve was leaking.
About 1 drop every 10 sec was apparently enough to freeze things.
Odered replacement valve from Amazon, about $49.
Replaced fill valve, checked for drip, assembled unit and powered on fridge.
Symptoms 2: Water was filling tray but not freezing, displayed error messages and received "error 40E = ice fan not running".
Attack 2: The ice fan in this model is behind freezer drawer.
power down fridge, remove freezer contents, remove freezer drawer front, slides, drawers.
remove 2 screws from evaporator panel, disco 2 connectors from top right behind panel, remove panel and fans
    Found :
ice box air channel completely plugged with ice where H2O had run down channel and frozen
ice fan occluded with ice, probably from air channel.
evaporator drain not flowing due occlusion near compressor
layer of ice on freezer floor due evaporator drain not flowing
defrosted freezer floor, ice channel, ice fan.
tested ice fan w 9V battery, runs ok
cleared evap drain by cleaning pipe near compressor. Also cleaned the non-freezer drain pipe, which was also occluded.
Power up. Refrig and freezer began to cool
control panel does not show errors
after several hours ice maker dropped ice.
Success: should run for another 6 years.
    -Thanks.

I have this ice maker on my Samsung RFG295aars. The ice maker makes a loud clicking noise but makes no ice. The water dispenser works well with force. Is there something in the hidden water line that could be clogged or frozen to prevent water from entering the ice maker even if it is working in the water dispenser? Thank You.

    • @rridgway
      @rridgway 5 ปีที่แล้ว

My Samsung RF4287HARS/XAA01 French Door model has a clicking ice maker. Tray fills and freezes O.K. but the heating element on the bottom of the ice tray does not get warm and release the cubes. When the rotating arms try to flip the cubes out it cannot because the cubes are frozen tight in the tray. Then the gears in the front gear box of the ice maker break as the motor turns. The clicking noise is the teeth breaking. Hopefully by replacing the entire ice maker with DA97-07365A or DA97-07365G will solve the problem.

Hoping someone sees this and can help. Have the Samsung RFG298. The top ice maker isn't working. It's not leaking water. I hear a whirring or hooting noise. Unsure if that's the fan motor behind the ice maker folks have mentioned being froze up. It was also frozen inside the back panel but I have thawed and cleared that drain. How can I tell the icemaker itself is bad or if the water line to the ice maker is blocked with calcium, etc.? Is it possible that I can get water out of the door water dispenser but a different line/connection from the water inlet valve is bad/blocked? Hope that makes sense. This is all so Damn frustrating..

If you can get water but the icemaker isn't making ice, it's the icemaker that needs replaced only, not the water valve...correct?

I have two Samsung refrigerators model #RFG238AARS both with the same top ice maker. The top ice maker in regrigerator # 1 does not work. The bottom ice maker and water dispenser in refrigerator # 1 do work. Refrigerator # 2 has been in continuous use but does not currently have water to the icemaker. The icemaker in refrig 2 was used for a very short time but has not had water and therefore not been used since since late 2012. Since the ice maker units are identical, I swapped them The unit from refridg 2 does not work in refridg #1. Since the lower ice maker and the water dispenser in the door in refridg 1 do work, do I still need to check the water valve? Should I try swapping the water valves? Any other suggestions?

Very nice video. I replaced my ice maker. Can you elaborate about what should happen after it is replaced? I pressed the "reset" button for 5 sec, the motor rotates but, the arm did not drop down. I moved it down manually (gently) and the water turned on and stopped but, after sitting overnight, no ice was produced. The water in the tray did not freeze. The original problem was water leaking from the maker and freezing in the tray section freezing the ice in tray together thus, making it unable to dispense.Other than the reset, I turned the power of to the refrigerator for 5 minutes and turned back on again pressing the reset button, setting the frige to "power freeze", I pressed the dispenser tab to ensure the auger in the tray turned.Refridge model # RFG297AARS Ice Maker DA97- 07365AR (replaced)Any Thoughts?
