- The Forester is all new for 2025 from Subaru. On the outside you will disover new sheet metal, lighting, grill and wheels. On the inside you will be welcomed by a standard 11.6in infotainment screen and sunroof. Under the hood is a 2.5L flat-4 that is mated to a CVT. Is the 2025 Subaru Forester a BETTER new compact SUV than a Honda CR-V?

I wish they never got rid of the turbo
why you own one? probably not but seems like everyone says this
Man , I really love your channel!
A perfect SUV for people who aren't into cars.
That would be Toyota
I amnot an engineer and I am sure there is a reason, but I would love if all cars had oil filter on the top, makes oil changes so simple and clean
Thanks for the review. My wife has been interested in the Forester for years. The two things that stopped her from buying were the lack luster 4 cylinder engine and the noise. I appreciate your comments on both. I'll pass on to her the results of your review, but those two areas will probably still keep her from buying.
I test drove one and then ordered one! Believe me there is plenty of power. I really don't understand people complaining, I found it just as quick as the Rav4 or CR-V!
I don't understand all manufacturers going with lower profile tires. Roads in my area are rough.
I'm with you. Hate the huge wheel trend.
@@almassengale Last week I had sidewall damage from a pothole. Cost me $450 to replace the tire and alignment.
I agree. I always look for the highest profile tires a model has.
You can always downsize the wheel afterwards, although that would be an extra money out of pocket.
I just bought a 2025 Toyota Camry LE which has 16 inch tires. My 2007 Honda Accord had low profile tires and I was constantly having to buy new tires from potholes, curbs, etc.
I like it. The forester kinda gives me a mix of ford explorer and vw atlas vibes from the front end
*This was good !! Thank u 4 ur efforts !!*
I'd really need to get the Sport in the Sapphire Blue Pearl. What a great combo with the copper wheels!
My 2015 Forester has 498,000 miles.
I'm lucky to have my 2016 FXT for the power and acceleration especially when going on hills on the highway.
You just can't go wrong with a Forester.
You can if you want something with some power. Thing needs a better engine.
@@digitaldoc100 Or a decent design.
They fucked up the 2019 -2021 foresters with the TCV in place of a thermostat... Then made a better one for the 22-24... So ya some forester models are bad
@digitaldoc100 no car is perfect but this really does meet the needs of about 90 percent of drivers out there. Power can be nice but most people don't care.
@@digitaldoc100 All the cars in this class basically have the same base hp and engine.
Hi
Joe Good To See You Love Your Style
Hi Robisson! I appreciate your support!
Yes of course Joe & I be happy to afford this.
Question do you personally think the 2025 subaru forester is a better vehicle than the mazda cx5, toyota Rav4 or honda CRV, your respond stay safe looking forward.
test drive or buy each one and let us know. :)
Love your video
I have driven a regular Forester in 2003 my boss had one and i used to do pick orders up for her. Yes she was a lady Boss I thought back then the cars were really good loved they way they handled on the road always love the look of the Subaru Legacy love to see a video on that one. Wonder if they will ever change the Logo Like Kia Did also when Mazda did as well
The Forester love the Shade of blue. Wow that engine is very low
The thing i miss about the cars today is a CD Player they need to make one option not everyone likes Docking for Music I love the Old Fashion CD Players
Such a Great Looking Forester and Great Video
9:15 I will never understand why some automakers like Subaru, Honda, Toyota, Daihatsu and Hyundai still sticking with a CVT gearbox, why can't they just stick with a traditional and normal Automatic gearbox. At least you get to balance normal driving , better gas mileage and less engine-noise . Look i still like your videos joe, keep on going😅
Joe, that 25 Forester is the best out there. make sure you get the Touring trim level with the LED lights 👍 I like it Joe, but you already know that 💯
Looks good
These have gone up in price A LOT over the past five years. $38k… wow
Should be more like $28K.
@@chuckwalla2967 The Premium is the best value.
Go shop around with a $38k budget and see what it gets you. A Jeep Compass, equinox, terrain, sportage, crv… and the forester will have more available options. $38k for this in todays market is good value. Plus, you’ll find these for under msrp all day.
@@Adam_S281 I don’t think it’s a good value, but not much is. I do like that Subaru dealers seem willing to negotiate.
@@dforrest4503when the average new car price is $46k .... 38k is a bargain.
Joe, don't you think the new model looks a bit like a dated Ford or Toyota? A little less sleek and certainly less Subaru? Just curious because that is how it struck me and i am feeling that I did prefer the previous years. For instance my mom has a silver 2021 and it looks kind of nice and slightly sporty. Hope all is great with you!
I hope the looks grow on me, cause as of now, they arent
looks better with some mud on it
Idk why i just love Subarus. I know they don’t make good designed cars and they are slow to update and for some reason refuse to keep up with them. But man I would buy this Forester in a heartbeat
I have a 2018 Crosstrek and it is my first Subaru.
The area I live in Western Maryland Subarus are very popular and have some of the most loyal buyers.
Two reasons, one the cars are very reliable and two they are better in deep snow than front drive based AWD systems. I’m sure it’s because of the low center of gravity of the boxer engine and symmetrical AWD.
As far as the CVT goes, to me it’s not as loud as some others I’ve driven and the way they make it shift it feels like a typical transmission.
I’ve owned a lot of cars and trucks and this Crosstrek has been a great car.
Mine was an early 2018 and I have put Falken Wildpeak tires on it and it goes in snow.
I’m looking at getting a new Subaru and was waiting to see this and the new Outback. At first I didn’t like the looks of the Forester, but it has grown on me.
TCV or thermostat???????
I believe it’s a thermostat.
no zonk for laggy touchscreen?
It is a pre-production
@@RaitisRidesunfortunately post-production screens act the same 😫
Once you can offer a hybrid then maybe.
Right now I’ll keep my 2022 CRV hybrid averaging 40 mpg.
That would be a nice setup.
Hey Joe when are you going to have a review about the HONDA HR-V 2025? Like to hear ur thoughts on that SUV. Thx Joe
Can’t wait when they bring back XT
Banking on Sport and up getting they Hybrid drivetrain by default when it's released. More power with some immediate electric torque and better efficiency should really help it. Horizon blue has not been a favorite for me though. Love Geyser, WR Blue Pearl, Sapphire and the Cosmic blues, Horizon and Marina just scream powder blue Prius to me.
Now if they do a Wilderness as Hybrid by default when announced, that'll sell me instantly. Otherwise, I'm looking at a touring when my Outback lease is up.
Thanks for sharing your great thoughts on this one Ryan!
Fingers crossed Subaru does something soon.
$38k+? That's 2-3 year old Lexus territory.
It's Bidenomics. Everything is up.
Yeah, Touring trim is actually $41+
Joe and Lori and Steve keep up the good work real true and I love the video 👍
Thanks brother for having my back!
The look is really growing on me. Well done, Subaru.
You are not the first to say that!
Got to zonk the Edison lightbulb in rear turnsignal
Love the Forester!! Have owned two. This one may be my third!
Are the speakers on Premium really bad 😢? They don’t have a package to upgrade like other trims
That is a great question!
If you're an audiophile, the HK system is definitely the way to go.. I'm sure the 6 speaker system is fine for people who aren't... but the 4 speaker system in the base is definitely not good. Hopefully they'll offer a fosgate accessory upgrade at some point for the lower trims.
@@ryanslemmer5905 I listen to a lot of audiobooks and TH-cam or news 😟 not as much music. Do you think that would be a problem ? I will test them but I’m just afraid that they are really bad
@@ryanslemmer5905 Premium Forester with tax is almost 40k sooo I really wouldn’t want crackling speakers
@@agak61 So... put in better speakers if the ones in it aren't great and you don't want to upgrade to a different trim? Or adjust your equalizer to sound better at a lower volume?
Waiting for someone to do a review on the Premium trim.
These are very popular in the Pacific NW where I live, for a reason. They are versatile reliable and cheap to maintain. They have very good AWD systems and look pretty darn good to boot. ☮️
Not so cheap to fix the drivetrain once they fail.
@@chuckwalla2967 it's 2024 not 2014
Weird how Subaru only has one model which is the brz that has LED turn signals front and rear but none of their models have it. Some models have it up front but that’s it. Subaru gotta commit to doing it
That's the first thing I look at when I go car shopping.
OR when I see someone in front of me turning. I think to myself, "damn .... I'd better go buy one of those, they have led turn signals".
🙄🤣🤣🤣
I've sold a TON of these excellent vehicles. If the new Gen is as good as the past, it is the best buy (IMHO) SUV with Viscous Coupling AWD; which l absolutely loved! Durable as heck and not fancy makes it great for kids.
Please make a video on Range Rover SV vs Maybach 🙏 🙏😭😭
He doesn't do trips to the junkyard, &or dealership service departments.
You'll have to do that comparison on your own.
It’s back to the old tall station-wagon look.
yes. veri ugli.
Well made, great for the snow, definitely bland and not a fast engine. But I am too old for gunning it thru traffic. Great for carrying all of my metal detecting gear
I like it. It looks rugged without exaggerating the lines too much.
Awesome Subaru Forester.
No zonk on the touch screen? Touch screens can be a safety hazard. Search for Physical buttons outperform touchscreens in new cars, test finds Vi Bilagare" you will find out that touch screens operations takes a lot longer than physical buttons. Vi Bilagare also has a current generation Outback among their test cars BTW. Also, imagine doing this in the freeway where you are running at least 55mph then for some reason you need to do something on the touch screed for at least 5s - you would have driven the entire length of a football field with your eyes closed (this is according to NHTSA) or longer if you took longer to operate the touch screen.
I think the car looks ok, but cover the logo, I’ll never guess this is the new Subaru, I thought it’s a new Ford car. #StopCopyEachOther
When is the 2025 outback coming out?
Already arriving but they made no changes 2026 should be redesign
Ahh, ok, to bad, was hoping for redesign for 2025. Haven't seen any utube videos, been looking, no one has one posted, lots of Forester ones.@@David-dx5wz
thanks Steven
В стиле первого кузова .Супер .
nice interior, be nice for road trips! 🙂
My chevy let me down. Now on to subaru. Fingers crossed.
From a distance, the front end looks like a Ford especially with the oval emblem. I’m thinking that’s not a good thing…..
I was thinking the same
God. I want to like these cars so much but they are just so ugly!!!!! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. nothing modern about any of their models!!!
I agree! Or an old Toyota design. Maybe a combo. Bummer.
i really want to love subaru but honestly they need to up their aesthetic game . their sells will go up like crazy for sure.
Trust me I know how you feel!
That growling noise😂 and the infotainment graphics plus orientation feels old.
Subaru knows its customer base very well. The redesign is not over the top
Probably a good alternative and cheaper to the Rav4 TRD-Off Road/Adventure. Subaru is starting to appeal to the masses.
great video
heard they wanna partner with Toyota again to make all hybrids models,,,maybe next year
Toyota own 20% of Subaru.
Joe dont forget to show & test for us the new BMW 5 & 7 series😮 mercedes is doing well with the new design dont forget it
You got it!
One can get a carbon turbo Mazda that will get up go for basically same price.
Which Mazda? CX-50?
Joe is a type of a guy to get international driver's license when driving in California
LOL you are freaking hilarious!
I did not realize that Subaru used Charmin for the soft arm rests! 😂
That bring the good stuff!
It’s just so old still , like it’s 2025 , get with the program already all the other heavy hitters look so much more modern ( CrV , Rav4 , Tucson/Sportage , cx50/cx50 even the new Equinox
FORD front end
16:37, look at below the tail light. That bump looks like it got hit on that corner. Don't like that design.
Nice interior and good size but it looks quite dated and also forgot to zonk the old fashioned light bulbs. If only it didn't have a CVT
Anyone else getting ford explorer vibes from this?
Just the front of it. I see Jeep Cherokee on the sides.
Last model was a good looking and unique SUV, this just looks like a cop car.
The front looks like a old Ford Edge !
We actually just got a 2024 Wilderness and a big reason was, we love the lower sloped hood. The visibility is unmatched. This new one I just know we'd have a whole big area of hood to peer over.
Same interior as every other Subaru of this year…
Large Compact Crossover SUV Nissan Rogue Mitsubishi Outlander Mazda CX-5,CX-50 Hyundai Tucson Kia Sportage Ford Escape
Can this come with a hitch receiver? It must be an option right?
Yes it can.
@@RaitisRides Thanks for some reason they don't list as accessory. Maybe included with touring spec.
I got a RS last June.
Hi
Guys Hope Many Around Here Remember Mercury Mariner From Last Decade Around 2011 In All Aspects As Ford Use To Produce Several Subaru Cars At Detroit Michigan Plant Usa 🇺🇸
I totally remember those!
Will be curious to see if 2026 Outback (redesign like rumors suggest) incorporates Subaru’s next gen driver cockpit and infotainment system. If so, too bad this refreshed Forrester stuck with the current setup. Not bad, but a slow response time to touch inputs several years in without being properly addressed remains extremely disappointing. Rumored hybrid powertrain option would be interesting to see as well. Otherwise, this is a vehicle that knows its target market well and overall delivers.
It’s an improvement over the old look……….but I like Honda CRV
I’ve heard a lot of great things about the forester and outback from friends but I’m not a fan of the look and styling of either. I can’t unsee the 1980’s wagon that my mom drove.
Love my Forester. It's a 2009, lol, but only 87,000 miles.
is it a decent car? I like the blue color - my first car was that color, 1970 Dodge Charger, tony macaroni (Italian Brother)
It's going to cost more. The Limited cost the same as the Touring did in 2023. I do like the lights in the front and back. Going to test drive to see the changes in steering, handling, seating, eyesight cameras, 360 cameras with rear view mirror camera option and sound quieting improvements.
How he use camera recording while driving?
JJ - is Steven left handed? just wondering 😄
It's alright Joe.
Hi it’s Lucy I don’t like the auto start stop feature. I do like the vertical screen in the centre. But I like the older one better. My husband likes the new forester.😂❤🎉😊
Less than $100 can delete the start/stop
The wifey has a 2020 Forester Sport ... and a couple of gripes .. the AUTO START/STOP shakes the entire car when it restarts ... MPG could be better ... and who's "NORM"
Hopefully the upgrades to the motor and starter help smooth it out. The 2.4 turbo in Outback and Legacy XT are significantly smoother. They still have their shuddery moments but they're better for sure. Was getting 27-29 out of my Forester Wilderness regularly, wasn't complaining with that transmission, tire and suspension change.
You do know for less than a $100 that start/stop can be bypassed.
Or better yet, quit trying to push the brake pedal thru the floor like Fred Flintstone, and it won't engage.
@@danielfair4675 yes thank you ...actually that was a semi rant ...the full rant going something like this ...the longer we own the Forester the more I dislike the 2.5 boxer engine ... Compared to any Honda the 2.5L boxer seems crude noisy unrefined ...I'm sure one day I will sell it ..thanks again for the reply keith
This 2025 is a much cleaner and understated design than the 24; both inside and outside. it kind of follows the 24 CRV, which also has a much cleaner design than the model it replaces.
I'd say that the 25 is a hugh change from the 24, yet it's amazing that the outside dimensions are all less than an inch more than the old model. Good job Subaru!
No! The new CR-V Hybrid is awesome.
Yeah why no zonk for the incandescent light bulb back turn signal?😂
You can't see it, who care
@@danielfair4675 it gets a zonk every other time!
Is Subaru just allergic to round wheel openings?!
Toyota
Hey Joe you didnt ZONK the Tommy Edison light bulb in the turn signal! But great review to the hardest working man in the car bidness! Shouts out to Steven with the camera work
Hard pass.
At this point these are falling behind with that ancient powertrain. The styling took a step backwards this year and they are so much less fuel efficient than the Honda or Toyota hybrid options.
Hybrids are for Karen & Ken
the black badge on the C pillar ruins the flow of the design
Too expensive
Lol, go shop a Porsche Macan or M-B GLA250 .... you'll discover it's a bargain.
Their infotainment screen is so awful ugly
It is not my favorite that is for sure!
the Honda CR-V is one of the more reliable vehicles on the road. The Subaru Forester Reliability Rating is 3.5 out of 5.0, which ranks it 10th out of 26 for midsize SUVs.
That's funny, CR has it at #1 out of 21 compact SUV's in 2024.
Not impressive in looks, blah wheels, little overpriced, but it'll still attract Subie diehards.
Doesn't seem very "modern" at all. Eh.. 🤷♂
same car different special effects. nothin realli new w/ the lates edition of this vehicle.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one.
